Abstract

This study aims to identify the scientific literacy skills of students at Malang State University based on gender, year of study, and study program. The research method uses quantitative description. The sampling technique uses purposive random sampling. The population of the study is S1 students at Universitas Negeri Malang who are pursuing education programs. The sample consists of 208 students, divided into 62 males and 146 females. The data collected includes the results of scientific literacy tests using the TOSLS (Test of Scientific Literacy Skills) instrument and demographic data from the respondents obtained through questionnaires. The test instrument is divided into nine indicators of scientific literacy, including the ability to identify scientific concepts, evaluate the validity of sources, and interpret graphs. Data analysis was conducted using the KR20 reliability test, Shapiro-Wilk normality test, and non-parametric analysis such as Mann-Whitney and Kruskal-Wallis. The results of the study showed that the average level of success in questions was 73.37%, based on gender, with details of male respondents with a score of 74.38% and female respondents with a score of 72.36%. The level of scientific literacy of students based on the year of study in working on questions decreased from the first year to the third year (first year = 37%; second year = 46%; third year = 17%). There was a difference in the level of success in completing questions statistically based on the study program, which showed significance (H = 47.93; p <0.05). Geography education students' scores in solving test questions were second worst compared to students studying Biology, Physics, and Chemistry, so they had to do more science-based activities in each lecture activity.

Abstract

Pendidikan memiliki peran penting dalam pengembangan displin ilmu khususnya dalam melakukan penelitian pada tingkat Universitas. Era modern ini, bahan tepat guna seperti Bioetanol sangat diperlukan sebagai bahan bakar ramah lingkungan yang dapat dibuat dengan proses fermantasi dan destilasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pelatihan dan pendampingan pembuatan bioethanol dengan bahan dasar singkong dan jagung pada mahasiswa PVTO Universitas Bhinneka PGRI. Proses pelaksanaan Pelatihan dilakukan secara intensif untuk meningkatkan keterampilan dan kemampuan dalam melakukan sebuah uji coba bioethanol sehingga hasil yang didapat bisa bermanfaat untuk bahan bakar. Proses pelatihan dan pendampingan dilakukan melalui 4 tahapan, yaitu persiapan, proses pendampingan dan pelatihan fermantasi bahan, hingga proses pendampingan destilasi dan uji coba. Hasil keterlaksaan pelatihan dan pendampingan ini sangat diperlukan dan dalam pelaksanaan kegiatan tersebut dapat melatihkan keterampilan mahasiswa dalam proses pembuatan bioethanol. Dalam pelatihan ini mahasiswa melakukan umpan balik yang baik, sehingga tidak hanya meningkatkan ketemapilan mahasiswa tapi juga memberikan pengalaman dalam membuat suatu produk bahan bakar yang bermanfaat.

Abstract

The development of science and technology has an influence on various aspects of human life, such as competition in the social, industrial fields and the development of social life globally. The solution offered to face the development of science is to increase scientific literacy skills which are expected to be able to become the golden generation in modern society. Scientific literacy is important to explicitly integrate the aspects needed to develop science learning in schools. The target of this research is teachers at SDN 1 Pakisaji, Tulungagung, which was carried out on February 23 2024. The aim of this research is to provide training and assistance in making PISA questions oriented towards SSI questions so that they can improve the quality of teachers in scientific literacy. This research provides benefits for teachers in being able to broaden their horizons in presenting questions to students so that later with the SSI-oriented PISA questions, they can also help students in analyzing various kinds of questions and improve their analytical skills on questions.

Abstract

Praktikum pada umumnya dirancang secara khusus agar mahasiswa dapat melakukan eksperimen, kemampuan memecahkan masalah dengan pendekatan ilmiah. Tujuan dalam Penelitian ini adalah untuk mengembangkan panduan praktikum pada mata kuliah larutan yang berorientasi pada literasi sains mahasiswa pendidikan IPA Universitas Bhinneka PGRI dan melihat kelayakan dan kepraktisan dari pengembangan panduan praktikum tersebut. Jenis penelitian ini menggunakan metode Research and Development (R&D) yang diawali dengan studi pendahuluan dan sampai tahap uji terbatas untuk melihat kepraktisan sehingga menghasilkan produk panduan praktikum yang berorientasi pada kemampuan literasi sains. Pada penelitian ini dilakukan uji validitas materi dan media untuk melihat kelayakannya, serta angket yang diberikan pada mahasiswa untuk melihat kepraktisan panduan praktikum. Didapatkan hasil uji validitas materi dengan presentase 91 persen yang menyakan sangat layak, validitas media menunjukkan presentase 88 persen dan menyakan sangat layak, serta uji kepraktisan media menjukkan presentase 82,67 persen yang merupakan kriteria sangat layak. Secara keseluruhan hasil pengembangan panduan praktikum ini dinyatakan sangat layak untuk tahap awal pengembangan panduan.

Abstract

Abstract

The use of PhET simulations is an alternative in delivering science concepts in science learning activities in elementary school. However, not all teachers can operate and design learning activities using PhET simulations. The target of this training is the first elementary school teachers in Tulungagaung City. Training activities were carried out through zoom so that teachers from various sub-districts in Tulungagaung could participate. The method used was training and workshops on the application of technology in learning activities. The final result of the training activities is that each teacher can apply PhET simulations media in designing learning activities in the classroom.

Abstract

Pembelajaran Swishmax yang valid dan dapat diterima serta mampu menggambarkan konsep abstrak pada materi getaran dan gelombang untuk siswa kelas 8 Sekolah Menengah Pertama (SMP/MTs). Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Model Four-D yang terdiri dari tiga tahap yaitu pendefinisian, perancangan, dan pengembangan. Kelayakan media yang dikembangkan dinilai melalui validasi ahli dan uji keterbacaan. Hasil pengembangan media Swishmax materi getaran dan gelombang ditujukan untuk siswa kelas 8 SMP/MTs. Berdasarkan hasil uji kelayakan, ahli media memberikan skor rata-rata sebesar 93,25% yang menunjukkan bahwa media sangat layak. Penilaian ahli isi menunjukkan bahwa ke-20 konsep yang diujikan dinilai sangat sesuai, sedangkan uji keterbacaan menghasilkan skor rata-rata 93,75% yang menunjukkan bahwa media diterima dengan baik oleh seluruh responden. Berdasarkan evaluasi tersebut, media pembelajaran yang dikembangkan dapat dianggap memenuhi kriteria sangat layak dan berpotensi meningkatkan pemahaman konsep siswa.

Abstract

Praktikum merupakan bagian penting dalam pembelajaran IPA karena melibatkan eksplorasi fenomena fisik yang relevan dengan kehidupan sehari-hari. Namun, pembelajaran IPA di sekolah dasar masih didominasi oleh metode ceramah dan diskusi, sementara pendekatan saintifik seperti praktikum belum dimanfaatkan secara optimal. Hasil survei menunjukkan bahwa 82% guru SD mengalami kesulitan dalam mengoperasikan KIT IPA. Untuk menjawab permasalahan tersebut, dilakukan program pelatihan bagi guru SD/MI di Kabupaten Pasuruan terkait pemanfaatan KIT IPA, khususnya pada materi Gelombang dan Optik. Pelatihan dilaksanakan dengan metode ceramah, demonstrasi, dan tutorial, serta diikuti oleh 30 guru. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman dan keterampilan guru dalam menggunakan KIT IPA sebagai media pembelajaran. Diharapkan keterampilan tersebut mampu mendukung implementasi kurikulum merdeka. Antusiasme tinggi dari peserta selama pelatihan turut menjadi faktor pendukung keberhasilan kegiatan pengabdian ini.

Abstract

Violence committed by teachers in schools reflects a serious violation of the ethical standards and professional guidelines that should govern education. This study examines five cases of physical violence by educators in various schools across Indonesia, encompassing verbal, physical, and sexual abuse. The purpose of this research is to identify patterns, causes, and the impact of such violence on students, both physically and psychologically. The research employs a descriptive qualitative method with a case study and literature review approach. The findings reveal that violence is triggered by teachers' inability to manage their emotions, improper disciplinary methods, and a lack of supervision in schools. To prevent such incidents, teacher training, consistent implementation of ethical codes, and stricter oversight of teacher qualifications are necessary.
