Abstract

AbstractThe role of teachers, especially in primary school education, is something that needs to be considered as a form of anticipation of emotional fatigue that results in burnout. This study aimed to examine the effect of teacher self-efficacy in mediating the relationship of mindfulness to the domain of burnout conditions. Data collected from participants in inclusive primary school (n = 174) using convenience sampling techniques. This study used Mindfulness in Teaching Scale, Teacher Efficacy in Inclusive Practice, and Maslach Burnout Inventory-Educator Survey as measuring tools, which has been adapted to the context of inclusive education in Indonesia. The results of the regression test and the Sobel test showed that self-efficacy significantly mediates the relationship between mindfulness conditions and the domain of personal achievement in burnout conditions. The teacher's self-efficacy becomes an important thing to consider when wanting to handle mindfulness in helping to improve the domain of personal accomplishment in burnout conditions. Implications, limitations of the study, and suggestions for further research are discussed.Keywords: Burnout; Inclusive education; Mindfulness; Primary school teacher; Self-efficacy  AbstrakPeran guru terutama di pendidikan sekolah dasar menjadi hal yang perlu untuk diperhatikan sebagai bentuk antisipasi terhadap kondisi kelelahan emosional yang berujung pada burnout. Penelitian ini bertujuan menguji pengaruh efikasi diri guru dalam memediasi hubungan kondisi kesadaran (mindfulness) terhadap domain kondisi burnout. Pengambilan data partisipan penelitian di sekolah dasar inklusif (n=174) dilakukan dengan teknik convenience sampling. Penelitian ini menggunakan alat ukur Mindfulness in Teaching Scale, Teacher Efficacy in Inclusive Practice, dan Maslach Burnout Inventory-Educator Survey, yang telah diadaptasi ke dalam konteks pendidikan inklusif di Indonesia. Hasil uji regresi dan uji Sobel menunjukkan efikasi diri secara signifikan memediasi hubungan antara kondisi mindfulness dengan domain pencapaian personal pada kondisi burnout. Efikasi diri guru menjadi hal yang penting untuk diperhatikan ketika ingin melakukan penanganan terhadap kondisi kesadaran (mindfulness) dalam membantu meningkatkan domain pencapaian personal pada kondisi burnout. Implikasi, keterbatasan penelitian, dan saran untuk penelitian selanjutnya didiskusikan.Kata kunci: Burnout; Efikasi diri; Guru sekolah dasar; Mindfulness; Pendidikan inklusif

Abstract

AbstractAcademic procrastination in college students is a common phenomenon, although procrastination’s negative impacts were well known. This study aimed to examine the role of self-regulation in mediating the correlation between mindfulness and academic procrastination. Data were collected by distributing online questionnaires to college students from various universities in Indonesia (n = 305). The sampling technique used was convenience sampling. Instruments used in the research were the Mindfulness Attention and Awareness Scale, the Short form of Self-regulation Questionnaire, and the Academic Procrastination Scale. The regression and mediation analyses were held. Results showed that self-regulation partially mediated the correlation between mindfulness and academic procrastination. Increasing in dispositional mindfulness helps college students regulate themselves, thereby reducing the tendency to procrastinate. The implications and limitations of the study and suggestions for further research are discussed.Keywords: academic procrastination; college students; mindfulness; self-regulation.AbstrakProkrastinasi akademik pada mahasiswa merupakan fenomena yang umum terjadi, meskipun dampak negatif prokrastinasi telah banyak diketahui. Penelitian ini bertujuan menguji peran regulasi diri dalam memediasi hubungan antara mindfulness dan prokrastinasi akademik. Pengambilan data dilakukan melalui penyebaran kuesioner secara daring kepada mahasiswa di berbagai perguruan tinggi di Indonesia (n=305). Teknik sampling yang digunakan adalah convenience sampling. Penelitian ini menggunakan alat ukur Mindfulness Attention and Awareness Scale, Short Self-Regulation Questionnaire, dan Academic Procrastination Scale. Hasil uji regresi dan uji mediasi menunjukkan regulasi diri memediasi korelasi antara mindfulness dan prokrastinasi akademik secara parsial. Peningkatan kondisi kesadaran pada mindfulness membantu mahasiswa meregulasi dirinya, sehingga mengurangi kecenderungan untuk melakukan prokrastinasi akademik. Implikasi dan keterbatasan penelitian serta saran untuk penelitian selanjutnya didiskusikan.Kata kunci: mahasiswa; mindfulness; prokrastinasi akademik; regulasi diri.

Abstract

Mahasiswa berada pada masa penting yang berdampak bagi masa depannya, penetapan tujuan menjadi salah satu hal yang akan membantu keberhasilan mahasiswa program sarjana. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis mindfulness dan implikasinya dalam penetapan tujuan pada mahasiswa program sarjana. Jenis penelitian ini merupakan penelitian korelasi dengan metode studi non-eksperimental. Desain dalam penelitian ini merupakan cross-sectional study. Metode pengumpulan data melalui menyebarkan kuesioner untuk mengambil data sebanyak satu kali kepada mahasiswa yang berbeda. Teknik aanalisis menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif. Sampel penelitian dipilih menggunakan metode convenience sampling. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kedua variabel memiliki hubungan yang signifikan (r=0,186, p<0,01). Nilai R2 = 0,034 (SE = 0,401) yang menunjukkan bahwa sebesar 3,4% variasi penetapan tujuan dapat dijelaskan oleh variasi kondisi mindfulness pada mahasiswa. Diketahui pula bahwa model regresi ini memiliki nilai F(1, 196) = 6, 928 dan t=2,632;  p<0,01 dengan β=0,185. Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa mindfulness dapat berperan sebagai prediktor penetapan tujuan. Jika dituliskan dalam persamaan regresi, maka formula model regresi adalah Y = 2,632 + 0,095 Mindfulness. Hal tersebut menunjukkan setiap kenaikan kondisi mindfulness pada mahasiswa akan meningkatkan penetapan tujuan sebesar 0,095. Mindfulness memiliki hubungan yang positif signifikan dengan penetapan tujuan. Implikasi penelitian ini dapat memberikan dampak kepada mahasiswa dalam meningkatkan keberhasilan mahasiswa dalam menyelesaikan studi di perguruan tinggi.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the correlation between self-compassion and hope on teachers in inclusive schools. This study used quantitative method with cross-sectional design with correlational research type. The participants were 162 inclusive primary school teachers in Jakarta, Depok, and Bogor, who were recruited through nonprobability sampling technique that is convenience sampling. The adapted Adult Hope Scale (AHS) and Self-Compassion Scale (SCS) were used as instrument in this study. The findings show that there is a significant positive correlation between self-compassion and hope. This relationship can be caused by mental support, self-confidence, positive attitude, and the increase of competency perception based on self-compassion that may facilitate the individuals to have better hope.

Abstract

A growing body of studies shows that the higher individuals' education level, the higher their chance of getting a better salary. Unfortunately, for unprivileged students who want to improve their living conditions, the risk of failure to complete college is much higher because of numerous obstacles regarding their economic status. Having good academic resilience may foster unprivileged college students to achieve success in their studies. This study aimed to find out the relationship between mindfulness and academic resilience with self-compassion as a mediator. One hundred thirty-one unprivileged college students participated in this cross-sectional, quantitative study. Three adapted scales were used: (1) The Mindfulness Attention Awareness Scale (MAAS), (2) The Self-Compassion Scale (SCS), and (3) The Academic Resilience Scale (ARS-30). The data were then analyzed with the Hayes Regression technique. The findings support the hypothesis that self-compassion fully mediates the relationship between mindfulness and academic resilience among unprivileged Indonesian college students with a 23.1 percent contribution. Therefore, among unprivileged students, the impact of mindfulness on academic resilience will be higher through self-compassion.

Abstract

Penerimaan teman sebaya bagi anak berkebutuhan khusus pada lingkup pendidikan inklusif dianggap penting. Hal ini dikarenakan adanya kesempatan bagi mereka untuk berinteraksi bersama dengan teman-teman sebaya mereka sehingga proses belajar dan bersosialisasi dapat berjalan dengan lebih baik. Penelitian ini hendak melihat bagaimana hubungan antara efikasi guru dengan penerimaan teman sebaya terhadap siswa berkebutuhan khusus yang dimediasi oleh strategi pengajaran guru pada sekolah inklusif. Partisipan dari penelitian ini adalah 70 orang guru dan 596 murid dari 18 sekolah inklusi. Adapun alat ukur yang dipergunakan pada penelitian ini adalah The Teacher’s Sense of Efficacy Scale (TSES) untuk mengukur efikasi guru, The Bender Classroom Structure Questionnaire Versi Indonesia (BCSQ_VI) untuk mengukur strategi pengajaran guru, dan Peer Acceptance Scale (PAS) untuk mengukur penerimaan siswa sebaya. Dari penelitian ini didapatkan hasil bahwa tidak ada pengaruh langsung (direct effect) yang signifikan antara efikasi guru terhadap penerimaan teman sebaya terhadap siswa berkebutuhan khusus di sekolah inklusif, b = 0,0145, t = 0,3584, p= 0,7212 dan ada pengaruh tidak langsung (indirect effect) yang signifikan antara efikasi guru terhadap penerimaan teman sebaya terhadap siswa berkebutuhan khusus di sekolah inklusif, b = 0,0311, LLCI = 0,0083 dan ULCI = 0,0722. Hal ini membuktikan bahwa strategi pengajaran guru memediasi penuh hubungan antara efikasi guru dan penerimaan teman sebaya terhadap siswa berkebutuhan khusus di sekiolah inklusif.

Abstract

During the covid-19 pandemic, 12th grade high school students felt more stressed and tired due to a continued isolation. Therefore, academic resilience is needed so that students can face existing academic problems. It was found that self-compassion can foster resilience. This study aims to analyze the relationship between self-compassion using the Indonesian version of the Self-Compassion Scale and Academic Resilience using the Academic Resilience Scale-30. 277 participants from 12th grade high school students who are distance learning took part in this correlational research. Results show that there is a positive correlation between self-compassion and academic resilience. This therefore results in a new finding of how students could be more academically resilient in facing academic burdens during the pandemic. To get a more comprehensive picture, future studies could explore more demographic data, such as whether anyone assists students while distance learning and how stressed students are.

Abstract

When entering college, first-year students faced new challenges. College adjustment is necessary in the early period of college because it can predict college success. Covid-19 pandemic hinders college adjustment due to distance learning. Meanwhile, a previous study conceptually mentioned that self-compassion supported college adjustment. This study examined the correlation between self-compassion and college adjustment among first-year college students in distance learning during Covid-19 pandemic. Undergraduate students batch 2020 (N = 381) were surveyed using Self-Compassion Scale and Student Adaptation to College Questionnaire. Pearson’s correlation test showed a positive significant correlation between self-compassion and college adjustment. The strongest correlation was found between isolation and personal-emotional adjustment. These findings indicated that self-compassion tends to help a better college adjustment in a distance learning context.

Abstract

Guru sekolah inklusif rentan mengalami stres terkait pekerjaan, yang dapat menimbulkan burnout. Burnout berdampak negatif pada performa guru maupun pencapaian akademis dan sosial siswa. Penelitian sebelumnya mengajukan self-compassion sebagai pencegah burnout. Penelitian ini menguji korelasi antara self-compassion dengan burnout pada guru SD inklusif menggunakan Self-Compassion Scale dan Maslach Burnout Inventory-Educators Survey. 170 guru kelas dan pendamping SD inklusif direkrut dengan metode purposive dan accidental sampling. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui google form dan kuesioner paper-and-pencil di SD inklusif di Jakarta, Depok, Bogor. Pearson correlation digunakan untuk menganalisis korelasi antara self-compassion dengan burnout. Sesuai hipotesis, self-compassion berhubungan signifikan dengan dimensi burnout, yaitu hubungan negatif dengan kelelahan emosional dan depersonalisasi, serta hubungan positif dengan pencapaian personal. Penemuan mengindikasikan self-compassion sebagai pelindung terhadap burnout pada guru SD inklusif. Dengan demikian, penting bagi guru sekolah inklusif untuk mengembangkan self-compassion untuk mengantisipasi burnout. Limitasi dan saran penelitian didiskusikan lebih lanjut.

Abstract

This study aims to adapt and examine the psychometric properties of the Multidimensional Teachers Resilience Scale Indonesia Version (MTRS-I). The study about teacher resilience in Indonesia is still limited and uses the general resilience scale. There is no measurement that is specific to teacher resilience that can be used. This study used a quantitative research approach with a cross-sectional design for adapting the Multidimensional Teachers Resilience Scale (MTRS). Participants were obtained by convenience sampling. A total of 408 teachers in Indonesia participated in this study. Data was collected through a survey method using Google Forms, distributed through social media and the nearest school whose teachers were willing to participate. Data was analyzed using confirmatory factor analysis to confirm the validity and internal consistency for reliability. The result demonstrated that MTRS-I has a good-fit model. All items have factor loading of greater than 0.6, which are well-defined factors. The reliability study showed good results, either for the total score or the score of each dimension. Therefore, MTRS-I had met adequate validity and reliability. There were 13 items which were divided into four dimensions, namely emotional resilience, motivational resilience, professional resilience, and social resilience. Thus, MTRS-I is beneficial to measure teacher resilience in Indonesia.
