Abstract

This research was aimed to describe the improvement of students problem solving skills through discovery learning and student readiness in online learning. This study is a quasi experimental design using a nonequivalent pretest-posttest control group design. The population were all students of class XI MIPA SMAN 3 Bandar Lampung. The sampling technique used purposive sampling. Problem solving skills, student readiness in online learning were analyzed by independent t-test and correlation test. The results showed: (1) discovery learning is effective to improve problem solving skills on chemical equilibrium material; (2) there is a significant relationship between self-control and problem solving skills; (3) there is a significant relationship between the efficacy of using the internet in online learning with problem solving skills; (4) there is a significant relationship between self-control and the efficacy of using internet in online learning with problem solving skills. Keywords: online learning, student readiness, problem solving skills, discovery learning. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v23i2.pp400-409

Abstract

This study aims to describe the teacher's perception of problem-solving-based laboratory activities to improve the problem-solving skills of junior high school. This study involved 30 science teachers in Lampung. Collecting data in this study using a questionnaire, then analyzed using descriptive analysis. The survey results show that 65% of science teachers have not carried out problem-solving-based laboratory activities in their learning activities. This is due to several factors including teachers not being able to manage time in learning activities and limited tools and materials in school laboratories. Whereas on environmental pollution material for class VII of Junior High School, students can be invited to carry out laboratory activities based on solving real problems such as water pollution by laundry industrial waste. Based on the survey results, it can be said that the laboratory activity program is needed by teachers and students to improve students' problem solving skills. Keywords: laboratory activities, problem-based learning, problem solving skills.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v23i1.pp327-334

Abstract

This study aims to describe teachers’ perceptions towards students’ worksheets based on bagasse waste processing projects to improve students' creative thinking skills. This research was conducted in Lampung Province involving 42 junior high school science teachers. This study uses the ADDIE research and development method by Branch. At the analysis stage, performance analysis and needs analysis are carried out. At the development stage, two education experts validated the suitability of the content with project-based learning steps and indicators of creative thinking skills according to Torrance and validated the suitability of the construction with the components of the student worksheets. At the implementation stage, it will be tested in class VII at SMP Negeri 3 Kotabumi. The evaluation stage is by evaluating the results of students after the learning is carried out. The success of increasing students' creative thinking skills is seen based on the results of n-gain and effect size. Keywords: students’ worksheet, project based learning, creative thinking skills.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v23i1.pp335-344

Abstract

This study aims to develop interactive worksheet, describe the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of interactive worksheet by using liveworksheets to improve junior high school students' science process skills in the material of additives and addictive substances . The research method uses the 4-D development model. The subjects of this study were 66 students consisting of 32 students in class VIII A and 34 students in class VIII B at Gajah Mada Junior High School. The instruments used in this study were questionnaires and tests. Questionnaires are used to obtain validation data, test student responses and teacher responses while tests are used to measure effectiveness by collecting pre-test and post-test data. The results of this research and development indicate that the results of the validation of material and media experts obtained a percentage of 88% in the valid category. Practical interactive worksheets are used with a percentage of values with very practical criteria. This interactive worksheet is also effective for improving students' science process skill in the experimental class with an average N-Gain of 0.72 with a high classification and the effect size value is 0.94 with the big category.
