Abstract

The ever-increasing waste of paperboard is a serious challenge to the environment, prompting this research to explore the potential of paperboard ash as a filler replacement in asphalt mixtures. This research was conducted at the Laboratory of the National Road Implementation Center of East Java-Bali, with testing methods that included sieve analysis, specific gravity measurement, and X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) analysis. The test results showed that 82.03% of the paper ash particles successfully passed the No. 200 sieve, indicating that this material is fine enough to function as a filler in asphalt mixtures. In addition, the average specific gravity obtained was 2.628, which meets the provisions in the 2018 Bina Marga General Specifications (Revision 2). XRF analysis revealed a dominant composition of calcium oxide (CaO) of 72.20%, followed by silica (SiO2) 10.9% and alumina (Al2O3) 6.8%, showing similarities with limestone filler. These findings indicate that paperboard ash can not only improve the stability of asphalt mixtures, but also contribute to waste management. By utilizing waste paperboard as filler, this research plays a role in sustainable development efforts and reduces negative impacts on the environment. In addition, the use of paperboard ash as an alternative filler in asphalt mixtures can also help reduce dependence on non-renewable natural resources, as well as reduce the volume of waste that ends up in landfills. Abstract

In Indonesia, waste from home industries is still a major challenge in sustainable environmental management efforts. One type of waste that is often overlooked is Ethylene Vinyl Acetate (EVA)-based sandal sponge waste. This waste is generally disposed of without further utilization, thus potentially polluting the surrounding environment. This research aims to utilize EVA waste as an additive in PG 70 modified asphalt mixture in the asphalt concrete layer, which is a road pavement layer that directly bears the traffic load and must be able to withstand vertical pressure, shear force, deformation, and temperature fluctuations. EVA waste was processed through washing, shredding, and drying before being mixed into the asphalt using the wet mixing method. A series of laboratory tests were conducted to assess the effect of EVA addition on the physical characteristics of asphalt, including penetration, flash point, ductility, specific gravity, and softening point tests. The results showed that the addition of EVA waste tended to increase the flash point and softening point, but decreased the penetration, ductility, and specific gravity values. All test parameters are still within the limits required by the General Specifications of Bina Marga 2018 (Revision 2). These findings prove that EVA waste has potential as an additive that not only improves asphalt performance, but also supports more environmentally friendly and sustainable waste management solutions. Abstract

Jalan Raya Kapas Krampung merupakan salah satu jalan di Kota Surabaya dengan panjang jalan 1.358 meter dengan tipe jalan 2/2 TT dengan lebar lajur 3,5 meter dan jumlah jalur adalah 2 lajur, dengan lebar kereb adalah 1 meter. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui volume lalu lintas karena sering terjadinya kemacetan di Jalan Raya Kapas Krampung Surabaya. Adapun sebab terjadinya kemacetan yaitu banyaknya aktivitas antar jemput siswa dan kendaraan yang parkir tidak pada tempatnya. Maka perlu dilakukan analisa volume lalu lintas menggunakan manual count pada ruas jalan ini. Metode penelitian ini dilakukan secara kuantitatif menggunakan Pedoman Kapasitas Jalan Indonesia (PKJI) 2023. Perolehan data berasal dari data primer, data Primer adalah data dari survei lalu lintas yang telah dilakukan di lapangan pada Ruas Jalan Raya Kapas Krampung Surabaya. Hasil analisis menunjukkan jam puncak volume arus lalu lintas terjadi pada hari Jumat 13 September 2024 pukul 16.00 – 17.00 dengan total 2198,9 skr/jam.

Abstract

The increasing volume of transportation users annually has had an unstable impact on the quality of infrastructure construction, particularly on asphalt roads. Therefore, there is a need for monitoring to effectively and efficiently address damages to asphalt roads. One method of maintenance or repair for asphalt pavement that exceeds the planned lifespan in the Asphalt Concrete Binder Course (AC-BC) layer is through the diversion of common filler materials using the Marshall method. The researcher aims to explore the substitution of common filler materials, one of which involves utilizing waste glass powder to enhance layer stability. The waste glass powder material utilized is sourced from the production remnants of CV Sari Jaya Aluminum, located in Mojokerto. The research aims to investigate the impact of waste glass powder on Marshall parameters AC-BC Laston layer. The optimal and most efficient outcome obtained from the use of waste glass powder filler influence is a filler variation level of 2.5% with a planned asphalt content of 6.0%. All the obtained Marshall characteristic parameter results have met the requirements of the General Specification of Bina Marga (revision 2) Year 2018.

Abstract

Jalan Raya Kapas Krampung adalah salah satu jalan di Surabaya dengan panjang 1.358 meter, termasuk dalam kategori jalan 2/2 TT, memiliki lebar lajur 3,5 meter, dan terdiri dari 2 lajur, dengan lebar kereb 1 meter. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memahami jumlah hambatan samping yang menyebabkan kemacetan yang terjadi di Jalan Raya Kapas Krampung Kota Surabaya. Salah satu penyebab kemacetan adalah banyaknya kegiatan antar jemput siswa serta kendaraan yang berhenti maupun kendaraan parkir di depan toko yang mengambil sebagian jalan. Oleh karena itu, perlu dilakukan analisis hambatan samping menggunakan teknik manual count pada jalan ini. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif, dengan menggunakan Pedoman Kapasitas Jalan Indonesia (PKJI) 2023. Data yang diperoleh berasal dari sumber data primer, yang merupakan data hasil survei hambatan samping yang telah dilaksanakan di lapangan pada Ruas Jalan Raya Kapas Krampung Surabaya. Hasil dari analisis menunjukkan bahwa jam puncak Hambatan Samping terjadi pada hari Jumat, 13 September 2024, antara pukul 16.00 – 17.00, tingkat hambatan samping berada dalam kategori Tinggi (T), dengan frekuensi sekitar 617,1 ≈ (617) kejadian per jam.
