Abstract

Measurement-related math subject is taught in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah, but many students still struggle to understand the concepts making the subject becomes boring and unappealing. Low learning outcomes in mathematics might be caused by boredom with the subject and problems in comprehending. The Talking Stick learning model is implemented to help students who are struggling with mathematics. This study sought to determine whether the Talking Stick learning model may improve learning outcomes in mathematics. This experimental study used quantitative methodology. The participants were third-graders at MIN 9 Aceh Tengah. A formative test with multiple choice questions was used as the data collection tool. The test was administered to both the experimental and control classes in two stages, namely the pretest (beginning test) and post-test (final test). The t-test was the analytical method utilized. The data demonstrated that the Talking Stick learning approach might be used to enhance learning outcomes in mathematics.

Abstract

Learning media is seen as a communication tool that bridges between abstract ideas and the real world, learning media also makes the process of interaction independence, communication and material delivery between educators and students so that it can take place in an appropriate and efficient manner. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the scales media oriented on the model of politics and learning independence on understanding the mathematical concepts of STAIN GPA mathematics students. The method used in this study is a quasi-experimental method. The subject of this study was a fifth semester mathematics student consisting of 26 students. Sampling from this study is by using population samples. Data collection before and after treatment was obtained from the test scores on the ability to solve mathematical questions in linear program subjects, PLSV and PTSLV. The test given consists of 10 questions in the form of essays. In addition to using the test in this study also used a questionnaire to see the independence of student learning which consisted of 22 item statements. The results showed that it was 15.65 ≥ 2.05 so that Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted, or in other words the use of the Polya model oriented scales media and learning independence could have a positive and significant effect on understanding the mathematical concepts of STAIN GPA Mathematics Students.

Abstract

Learning mathematics in primary schools often faces challenges in making abstract concepts easier for students to understand. One approach that can address this challenge is ethnomathematics, which integrates elements of local culture into mathematics learning. This research aims to explore how ethnomathematics can be used to improve mathematical communication understanding in primary school students. The research method used is to use a literature review of various sources that examine the importance of training primary school children's communication in mathematics. Ethnomathematics can improve students' understanding of mathematical concepts through a cultural context that is familiar to them. This approach is also effective in training mathematical communication, where students learn to explain their thought processes, discuss with peers, and solve mathematical problems collaboratively. Students who learnt with the ethnomathematics approach showed improved mathematical communication skills, both orally and in writing. The importance of applying ethnomathematics lies in its ability to make mathematics more interesting and meaningful to students, thus increasing their motivation and active participation in learning. In addition, ethnomathematics also encourages the development of critical and creative thinking skills, which are essential in mathematical communication. Although its implementation requires teacher creativity and preparedness, these findings confirm that ethnomathematics is an important and effective approach in mathematics education in primary schools.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengahsilkan modul dengan penggunaan bahasa lokal (Gayo) dalam penyajian dan penyelesaian masalah soal matematika, dan mengetahui hambatan mahasiswa saat menggunaan bahasa lokal (Gayo) dalam penyajian dan penyelesaian masalah soal Matematika. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode mixed methods, Model penelitian ini menggunakan model Model pengembangan ADDIE terdiri dari lima tahapan yang meliputi analisis, desai, pengembangan, implementasi dan evaluasi.  Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh mahasiswa Fakultas Tarbiyah Prodi PGMI tahun ajaran 2022/2023. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan secara purposive sampling, yaitu sebanyak 28 mahasiswa. Dari hasil penelitian diperoleh modul yang valid dengan rata-rata 0,78. Nilai kepraktisan kefektifan dari modul berdasarkan angket yang disebar adalah 3,8. Berdasarkan hasil yang didapat maka modul tersebut dapat digunakan untuk pembelajaran di kelas. Adapun hambatan nya adalah tidak semua materi dapat dirancang ke dalam bahasa Gayo, dan fasilitas media pembelajaran yang masih minim, sehingga perlu dilakukan pengadaan media oleh pihak kampus atau sekolah untuk menunjang kegiatan belajar.

Abstract

Masyarakat Gayo di Kabupaten Aceh Tengah masih mempertahankan sistem pengolahan lahan pertanian dengan tradisi tolong menolong antara sesama petani untuk lebih memudahkan dalam proses mengolahan lahan pertanian dengan sistem atau istilah dalam bahasa Gayo disebut Alang Tulung Berat Bebantu. Tujuan alang tulung pada bidang pengolahan lahan pertanian pada masyarakat Gayo adalah untuk meningkatkan nilai siraturahim antara saudara, masyarakat dengan bekerjasama dan saling menguntungkan.
