Abstract

Based on interviews with the Principal of SMP Negeri 2, Sungai Kakap District, Kubu Raya Regency, several pieces of information were obtained that (1) biology teachers in schools have not optimally utilized natural resources in the form of the diversity of Bryophyta around them as learning resources and (2) there is a lack of skills for students in managing the potential of natural resources around them into learning resources and marketable products. The Community Service Program (PkM) aims to train students to utilize the diversity of Bryophyta by making moss art for students of SMP Negeri 2 Sungai Rengas due to its aesthetic value. The PkM activity was conducted through training and assistance in making moss art for students. During the activity, the students who participated in the training seemed very enthusiastic in listening and following the instructions given and also obtained interesting and varied Moss Art designs from each group. The results of Moss Art-making activities can become one of the internalized activities in the development of the Pancasila Student Project at SMP Negeri 2, Sungai Kakap District, Kubu Raya Regency. The implications of this service are 1) making moss art can be used to strengthen the profile of Pancasila students in implementing the independent curriculum in schools, and 2) teachers can integrate Moss Art making into Biology learning on lower-level plant classification material.

Abstract

This research aims to identify the diversity of plants that make up peatland vegetation in the Mount Bongkok Reserved Forest after forest fires. This research is a quantitative qualitative descriptive research. The method used is the plot method. Area of observations were determined using purposive sampling with the assumption that the existing vegetation could represent the entire community. The sampling size/intensity (IS) used was 5% of the total area of 100 Ha, so the total sampling area was 5 hectares. The sampling location was divided into 50 observation plots with a size of 25x40m each plot. The results showed that Ubah (Syzygium sp.) and Pulai (Alstonia pneumatophore) plants were found at all sampling points. Geronggang plants (Cratoxylon arborescens) and Jelutung plants (Dyera lowii) were found at more than 50% of sampling points. These four plants are plants that are suitable for habitats in peatlands. This shows that this plant is suitable for growing in the peatland habitat and can be used for peatland conservation

Abstract

Zoology as a branch of biology not only emphasizes theoretical aspects, but also requires mastery of practical skills in observing, analyzing, and understanding the interactions between organisms and their environment. The results of observations during the Field Lecture on Lemukutan Island showed that many students were still confused when mentioning the names of species and body parts of Invertebrate animals found during field exploration. This study aims to determine the validity, student responses, and effectiveness of the SETS-based teaching module through Invertebrate exploration on Lemukutan Island. This study is a type of R&D research using the ADDIE design. The data collection tools used in this study were validation sheets, student response questionnaires, and Zoology concept understanding tests. Data analysis used validation score calculations, student questionnaires, and N-Gain Score results of students' Zoology concept understanding tests. The results of the study showed that the SETS-based teaching module was declared very valid for use as teaching materials in learning with an average value for each aspect of 1.00. Overall, students gave a positive response to the SETS-based teaching module after being tested with an average percentage score of 79%. Meanwhile, the increase in the average post-test score after the implementation of SETS-based teaching modules in learning activities reached 87 with the criteria of "very good". This study has a positive impact on the resulting module so that it can be used to improve understanding of Zoology concepts in the following year.Abstrak.
