Abstract

Background: The most common complications in Diabetes Mellitus patients are foot problems and high risk for amputation. Factors that trigger problems in diabetic feet in the form of neuropathy factors, namely loss of sensory nerve function and circulatory disorders. One of the non-pharmacological therapies to prevent these problems is safe Neuromuscular Taping (NMT) which is applied to the skin with elastic plaster through a decompression method to prevent a decrease in peripheral blood circulation and improve blood circulation. Objectives: The purpose of this study was to determine the comparison of the effectiveness of Neuromuscular Taping (NMT) intervention on microvascular circulation which was assessed by Ankle Brachial Pressure Index (ABPI) measurement in type 2 Diabetes Mellitus patients. Methods: This study used a quasi-experimental research design with a pretest-posttest control group approach. The number of respondents to this study was 60 type 2 DM patients divided into treatment group respondents and control group respondents. The intervention group was given NMT intervention for 2 weeks with daily plaster changes while the control group was given standard foot care education. The data collected is an ABPI score that describes microvascular circulation using a sphygmomanometer. Analysis was carried out using paired sample t-tests which were used to determine the effectiveness of the intervention. Results: Based on the results of the study, significant changes were obtained in the microvascular circulation of the treatment group (p = 0.000) α 0.05 which is the category of normal microvascular circulation or no disturbance. Increased microvascular circulation is caused by the application of NMT for 2 weeks. Conclusion: There was an increase in microvascular circulation seen through changes in Ankle Brachial Pressure Index (ABPI) values before and after Neuromuscular Taping (NMT) intervention. There were significant differences between the intervention and control groups in changes in ABPI scores.

Abstract

Background: Adherence to the recommended dietary patterns for individuals with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) is a major challenge in effectively managing the disease. One reason is the varying levels of knowledge among T2DM patients regarding appropriate dietary patterns. Limited knowledge makes it difficult for patients to understand appropriate eating patterns, impacting the effectiveness of diet management. As an educational digital media, the Embodied Conversational Agent (ECA) has proven effective in improving patient knowledge and adherence to T2DM management. Purpose: Developing and evaluating the feasibility of peunajoh.id as an ECA-based application designed to strengthen knowledge of the DMT2 diet. Methods: This study used a Research and Development (R&D) design with the Borg & Gall development model. Validation was conducted by 3 material experts and 3 media experts, followed by an initial trial on 15 T2DM patients in the prolanis community to assess the content's understandability and ease of use of the application, and an operational test on 45 T2DM outpatients to test the effectiveness of the widespread use of ECA media in a regional hospital. Data were analyzed using the Content Validity Index (CVI) to assess the appropriateness of the content and the percentage of user satisfaction with the use of ECA media in dietary education for T2DM patients. Results: Expert validation yielded an average I-CVI of 0.88 (material) and 0.83 (media). Abstract

The increasing intensity of industrial activities in the coastal area of West Aceh has the potential to contaminate aquatic environments with heavy metals such as chromium (Cr), lead (Pb), and mercury (Hg), which can accumulate in aquatic biota and pose health risks to humans. This study aimed to analyze the concentration of heavy metals in Sinanodonta woodiana, assess community exposure levels based on consumption patterns, and estimate non-carcinogenic health risks using the Environmental Health Risk Assessment (EHRA) approach. The study was conducted at four sampling sites along the Krueng Meureubo River and involved 141 respondents. Heavy metal concentrations were analyzed using Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry, while health risks were assessed based on daily intake and Hazard Quotient (HQ) values. The results indicated that Pb (2.36–5.65 mg/kg) and Hg (1.10–53.27 mg/kg) concentrations in mussel tissue exceeded national food safety limits, whereas Cr concentrations (<0.0001 mg/kg) remained within acceptable levels. Risk characterization showed that 71.7% of respondents had HQ values greater than 1 for Pb and Hg, indicating potential non-carcinogenic health risks associated with regular mussel consumption. In contrast, Cr exposure did not present a significant health risk. These findings highlight that the consumption of freshwater mussels from the Krueng Meureubo River may pose health risks to coastal communities, underscoring the need for continuous monitoring of water quality and aquatic food safety to prevent long-term adverse health effects.

Abstract

Cognitive diagnostic assessment serves as a tool to evaluate and identify students’ cognitive abilities. This study investigates its implementation in the Indonesian language subject for fourth-grade students at UPTD SD Negeri 8 Belinyu. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach, the research utilized eight assessment indicators: four focusing on students and four on teachers. Both students and teachers were included as participants, while data were gathered through interviews, observations, and documentation, then systematically analyzed. Findings indicate that students’ ability profiles (Indicator 1) averaged a score of 3, classified as moderate. Potential strengths (Indicator 2) scored between 3 and 4, suggesting opportunities for adaptive strategy development. Potential weaknesses (Indicator 3) scored 3, indicating situational constraints. Students’ cognitive capacity (Indicator 4) scored 3–4, reflecting readiness to engage in learning. Among teacher-related indicators, remedial instruction (Indicator 5) was implemented optimally with a score of 4, whereas learning support distribution (Indicator 6) scored 3, showing uneven provision. Learning alignment with curriculum standards and objectives (Indicator 7) and clarity in individual assessment (Indicator 8) both scored 4. In conclusion, cognitive diagnostic assessment contributes positively to students’ academic achievement, offering a structured and sustainable framework for enhancing learning outcomes at both individual and class levels.
