Abstract

Background. The Quran, revealed to Prophet Muhammad (SAW) over 23 years in Arabic, serves as a comprehensive guide for humanity. Its preservation and reliable transmission make it central to Islamic teachings. However, understanding the Quran requires Tafsir (exegesis), which provides essential context, linguistic insights, and explanations. Despite this, many interpret Quranic verses without proper knowledge of Tafsir, resulting in widespread misinterpretations. Surah Al-Baqarah, a chapter covering diverse themes, is particularly vulnerable to such misunderstandings. Purpose. This study aims to address common misinterpretations of seven selected verses in Surah Al-Baqarah by relying on established Tafsir works. The objective is to rectify these errors, promote accurate understanding of the Quran, and emphasize the necessity of using scholarly resources to interpret its teachings. Method. The research employs a qualitative literature review method. Data is sourced from books, scholarly articles, and journals that discuss Quranic exegesis. The study examines interpretations of the chosen verses using classical Tafsir works, including those by renowned scholars, to clarify their meanings and provide contextual understanding. Results. The analysis identifies key causes of misinterpretation, including neglect of historical and textual context, linguistic misunderstandings, and cultural biases. By referring to authoritative Tafsir, the study provides accurate explanations of the seven verses, reinforcing their intended meanings. Conclusion. The study highlights the risks of misinterpreting Quranic verses and underscores the importance of Tafsir for accurate understanding. By clarifying misconceptions in Surah Al-Baqarah, this research contributes to better public comprehension of the Quran and reinforces the need for scholarly guidance in interpreting its verses.

Abstract

This paper examines the interpretation of Surah al-Ma'un in the Tafsir Al-Ibriz by KH. Bisri Musthofa and its relevance to the formation of social ethics in Islamic boarding schools (pesantren). Through a literature study and content analysis approach, this research finds that KH. Bisri Musthofa understands Surah al-Ma'un as a critique of religious practices that are merely ritualistic without social sensitivity. In his interpretation, values such as concern for the poor, empowerment of the weak, and rejection of stinginess and ostentation become the ethical foundations for students and the Islamic boarding school community. This interpretation not only emphasizes theological aspects but also builds social awareness contextual to the lives of rural Javanese communities. This study concludes that KH. Bisri Musthofa's interpretation makes a significant contribution to strengthening the tradition of Islamic boarding school social ethics oriented towards humanity, solidarity, and social benefit.

Abstract

Purpose: This study addresses a critical research gap, while rapid technological development reshapes organizational competitiveness, evidence on how digital leadership specifically drives long-term sustainable performance remains highly fragmented. Consequently, this study aims to systematically examine the role of digital leadership in achieving business success and sustainability in the digital transformation era. Methodology/approach: Using the PRISMA and SALSA approach, twenty peer-reviewed articles (2015–2025) were screened, evaluated, and analyzed thematically. Findings: Findings reveal that digital leadership positively influences business success and sustainability, with digital capability, culture, affective commitment, and top-management innovativeness serving as key mediators. Practical implications: The study concludes that strengthening digital leadership is essential for firms to achieve competitive advantage and sustainability outcomes, offering strategic implications for policy, organizational development, and future academic research. Originality/value: This research addresses a fundamental gap in prior studies, the absence of an integrated framework for digital leadership. The novelty lies in synthesizing ten years of systematic literature to comprehensively map the determinants, mediators, and outcomes of digital leadership on business and sustainability performance.
