The research employs a qualitative method with a descriptive qualitative approach. The research subjects are Grade VIII students at SMP Negeri 23 Banjarmasin. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis is conducted through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study show that the music learning process using the P5 activities themed Local Wisdom involved five classroom meetings, consisting of three stages: the opening activity, the core activity, and the closing activity. These five meetings reflected student behavior that aligns with the characteristics of the Pancasila Student Profile, which includes elements of faith in God Almighty and noble character, global diversity, critical thinking, independence, collaboration, and creativity. These activities provided students with knowledge about arts within the context of local culture, particularly that of South Kalimantan. Furthermore, the P5 activities aimed to enhance students’ learning engagement and creativity.

Abstract

Corn cobs are a cultural problem in the NTB region because they are very influential at post-harvest harvesting. Poor handling of post-harvest corn cobs is a very serious problem in the area. Where corn cobs are only used by the community in general, making corn cobs as a mosquito repellent, by burning corn cobs. Corn cobs are corn residues resulting from shelling seeds which contain potential compounds that can be biologically transformed into other compounds, namely lignin, cellulose and hemicellulose. For example, making corn cobs chopper as a tool in handling post-harvest results. The purpose of this plan is to produce an efficient corn cob chopping machine so that it is useful for the community in NTB. The results of observations from the previous tool and processing data will be used to make the design size of the corncob chopper according to the real conditions of the previous tool. The results of the calculation of the transmission system of the corn cob chopper showed that the rotation of the electric motor was 1 HP = 1400 rpm, the shaft diameter was 20 mm, the seat belt used type A with a length of 828.4 mm. The materials used in this corncob chopping knife are as follows: knife = stainless steel material, bearing = cast iron, vant belt = rubber, pulley = aluminum, shaft = S35C-D. From the results of testing the corn cob chopper, 2 kg was obtained in 5 minutes.

Abstract

This study explores the transformation of Kungkurung music among the Dayak Meratus community in Piani Village, Tapin Regency, South Kalimantan, from its origin as an agrarian ritual toward a contemporary form of cultural performance. Employing a qualitative ethnographic approach, data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation to reveal the symbolic, social, and pedagogical dimensions of Kungkurung. The findings demonstrate that Kungkurung functions as a medium of collective identity formation and ecological spirituality, reflecting Pierre Bourdieu’s concept of habitus and Merriam’s tripartite framework of music as concept, behavior, and sound. The shift from ritual to public performance exemplifies Jeff Todd Titon’s idea of “continuity in change,” indicating that the community’s adaptation preserves traditional meanings while embracing new socio-cultural contexts. Ethnopedagogically, Kungkurung embodies four educational values collectively, discipline, spirituality, and ecological harmony that sustain intergenerational transmission of cultural wisdom. The study concludes that Kungkurung represents not merely a musical expression but an evolving pedagogical system that integrates art, environment, and social cohesion, thus contributing to cultural sustainability and character education rooted in local wisdom.
