Abstract

The number of processed fish circulating in the market does not necessarily guarantee that thepreparation has a level of cleanliness and nutritional content that is good for health. One form ofprocessed food favored by children is nuggets. By being processed into nuggets, fish becomes easyto eat, making it suitable to be used as food for children. The purpose of this activity is (1) to introducevarious processed fish that are healthy, nutritious, delicious and definitely liked by children, (2) todisseminate information about various kinds of processed fish that are liked by children, and (3) toteach ways to process fish-based foods. This activity was carried out in Kualu Village, KamparRegency, Riau Province. Activities are carried out through counseling with several stages, namelylectures, direct demonstrations and practice, giving leaflets, and monitoring. The achievement ofactivities in the form of counseling about the making of catfish nugget and its handling by housewivesin area 5, RW 01, Kualu Village, Tambang District, Kampar Regency. Abstract

Stingrays are a type of fish that has experienced a reasonably high population decline in nature due to their relatively low reproduction, overfishing, and habitat degradation, so it is feared that they could become extinct. This study analyses the length-weight relationship, condition factors, and growth patterns of Himantura uarnacoides stingrays landed at TPI Dumai Riau Province. This study was conducted in May–July 2023 and June–July 2024. The number of samples analyzed was 48 (24 females and 24 males). The results showed that the length of H. uarnacoides stingrays that landed at TPI Dumai ranged from 32.5–78 cm. The smallest fish size was in the 27.5–35.5 cm class range. The size of the fish most often caught was in the 51.5–59.5 cm class range. The highest condition factor value of 1.40 was found in the 28–25 cm class range. The length-weight relationship shows the equation W = 0.000059L2.869 with a coefficient of determination (R²) value of 0.911. The growth pattern of the H. uarnacoides stingray is negative allometric

Abstract

Abstract

The quality of the Siak River is gradually deteriorating with the rapid socio-economic development in its tributary watersheds. S. Sibam and Air Hitam are part of the Siak tributaries in the Siak tributary sub-region in Pekanbaru City. The quality of the Sibam and Air Hitam tributaries in the Siak Watershed of Pekanbaru City has been studied to determine the relative pollution level of water quality standards. Water quality measurements were carried out from January to August 2022 at the upstream, middle, and confluence with the Siak River. The pollution level of the Sibam River and Air Hitam River was measured using the pollution index method. The quality of the Sibam River and Air Hitam waters is compared to the quality standards according to The Regulation of Government of the Republicof Indonesia(RGRI) Number 22/2021 Class III. The water quality parameter measured consisted of dissolved oxygen, TSS, pH, BOD, COD, nitrate, nitrite, ammonia, and total phosphate. Pollution index calculations for the Sibam and Air Hitam rivers show light pollution, with index values ranging from 1.75 to 3.57. Nitrite and ammonia concentrations in the Sibam River do not meet quality standards. Whereas in the Air Hitam River, the BOD, nitrite, and ammonia level exceeds the quality standards (RGRI Number 22/2021 Class III). The highest pollution index is in the middle of the river, with settlements on both rivers. Keywords:Pollution IndexWater QualitySibam RiverAir Hitam River

Abstract

Lake Bokuok is an oxbow lake located in Aursati Village, Tambang District, Kampar Regency, Riau Province. This lake has undergone changes due to human activities, affecting the existence of aquatic organisms, including plants and fish. This study aims to determine the relationship between aquatic plants and fish in Lake Bokuok. Data collection was carried out in February-March 2025 using a survey method. Aquatic plant samples were collected once for species identification and four times for density calculations, while fish samples were collected four times for fish count calculations. The study results showed differences in aquatic plant density and total fish numbers across the three stations. Among the three stations, four aquatic plant species and four fish species were identified. Station III had the highest aquatic plant density and relative density (57.32 Ind/m²), which also correlated with the highest fish count (59 individuals). Conversely, Station II had the lowest aquatic plant density (25.08 Ind/m²) and the fewest fish (33 individuals). Statistical analysis showed a positive correlation between aquatic plant density and fish abundance, though the relationship was not statistically significant. Water quality in the lake is still considered suitable for supporting aquatic organisms. This study provides an initial overview of the role of aquatic plants in supporting fish life in natural lakes. These results are significant as a basis for water management and the development of sustainable conservation policies to maintain the ecological balance of Lake Bokuok
