Abstract

This study aims to analyze the understanding of the concept of the Fractions operations of Mappi students. This was qualitative research with the subject were 5 students from Mappi Regency, Papua in the Class A matriculation program. The study was conducted in February-May 2019. Data were obtained from written test results and were strengthened by interview results. Test results and interviews were analyzed descriptively and qualitatively. The results showed that the five students of Class A matriculation program had different concept understanding abilities. Subject 1 could understand the concepts of addition and subtraction in the fraction operation and changed the form of mixed fractions into ordinary fractions. Subject 2 could understand the concept of addition in fraction operations and change the form of mixed fractions into ordinary fractions. Subject 3 understands the concepts of addition and subtraction in fraction operations, which could represent and change the form of mixed fractions into ordinary fractions. Subject 4 could understand the concepts of addition and subtraction in the operation of fractions. Subject 5 had a low understanding of the concept and could only change the form of mixed fractions into ordinary fractions. With these results, the conceptual understanding of 5 Mappi students about fractional operations needs to be improved.

Abstract

This research aims to increase students' activeness and learning outcomes regarding flat shapes by using the problem-based learning model in class III of SD N Ploso. This research is classroom action research. The data analysis technique uses qualitative and quantitative descriptive analysis. The subjects of this research were 4 students in class III of SD N Ploso. The research results show an increase in student activity and learning outcomes in each cycle. During the pre-cycle the average student learning activity was 25%, then in cycle I the average increased to 50% and in cycle II the average increased by 75%. Furthermore, the average value of student learning outcomes also increased in each cycle starting from the pre-cycle of 62.5. Furthermore, in cycle I it increased by 70, and in cycle II it increased again to 82.5. Based on the results of the research, it can be concluded that the use of the problem-based learning model can increase the activity and learning outcomes of class III students at SD N Ploso in the shape material.

Abstract

There are several factors that influence student learning completeness, one of which is learning motivation, an internal factor that students must possess. This research aims to improve the motivation and learning completeness in mathematics through the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by Wordwall in Exponential and Logarithmic materials for the 10th-grade students at SMA Santa Maria Yogyakarta in the 2023/2024 academic year. This study is a Collaborative Classroom Action Research. The subjects of this research are all 10th-grade students at SMA Santa Maria Yogyakarta. The research procedures were carried out in two cycles, each consisting of four stages: 1) planning, 2) implementation, 3) observation, and 4) reflection. The variables in this study are the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by Wordwall, learning motivation, and student mathematics learning completeness. Data collection techniques in this study included observation, questionnaires, and tests. The research instruments used were observation sheets, questionnaire sheets, and test sheets. The percentage of student motivation in cycle I showed that 0% had very high motivation, 25.71% high, 40% moderate, 34.29% low, and 0% very low. However, student motivation in cycle II increased, with 2.86% in the very high category, 65.71% in the high category, 17.14% in the moderate category, 14.29% in the low category, and 0% in the very low category. Based on these results, it can be seen that there was an increase in student motivation from low to moderate, from moderate to high, and from high to very high. The mathematics learning process using the Problem-Based Learning model assisted by Wordwall showed an increase in student test results. In cycle I, the average score reached 94.29, with 19 out of 23 students meeting the minimum completeness criteria (KKM), while in cycle II, the average score reached 95.68, with 21 out of 23 students achieving the KKM. It can be concluded that the Problem-Based Learning model assisted by Wordwall can improve the motivation and learning completeness in mathematics of 10th-grade students at SMA Santa Maria Yogyakarta

Abstract

This research is motivated by the suboptimal mathematics learning outcomes of students, as seen from the Mid-Semester Assessment and daily assessments on previous material, specifically relations. This study aims to improve the mathematics learning outcomes of students using the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model in class X students participating in tutoring activities at a senior high school who reside in a dormitory. This research is a classroom action research (CAR) study with two cycles. The CAR design follows the Kemmis and McTaggart model, which consists of four stages: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were 32 class X students participating in tutoring activities at a senior high school who reside in a dormitory. Data collection instruments included learning outcome tests and observation sheets on the implementation of learning. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive analysis. The success criterion for this research was that more than 78% of students achieved the Minimum Completeness Criteria (KKM) of 75. The results showed an improvement in mathematics learning outcomes using the PBL model. In the initial condition, only 50% of students met the KKM with an average score of 62.25. In cycle I, 65.63% of students met the KKM with an average score of 70.61, and in cycle II, 84.39% of students met the KKM with an average score of 86.67. Therefore, it can be concluded that the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model can improve the mathematics learning outcomes of class X students participating in tutoring activities at a senior high school who reside in a dormitory.
