Abstract

Problem-based learning was an alternative learning model that can be implemented in a learning based on Reflective Pedagogy approach. Reflective Pedagogy not only prioritized knowledge aspect but also attitude aspect. This research was aimed to 1) describe the implementation of PBL using cycle of Reflective Pedagogy on Advanced Statistics learning and to 2) describe its influenced based on critical attitude, enthusiasm, and caring for others. The subject of this research was Psychology Student of class A. Data collection was gathered from the questionnaire and the results of student reflection. The result showed that the PBL phases could be well implemented in Advanced Statistics learning using Reflective Pedagogy. From the analysis was concluded that PBL gave influenced in good enough category based on critical attitude, enthusiasm, and caring for others. DOI: https://doi.org/10.24071/ijiet.2018.020102

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kompetensi pengetahuan konten matematis dengan topik Koordinat Cartesian. Ini adalah studi deskriptif. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah 26 calon guru yang berlatih mengajar di sekolah. Kemampuan Koordinat Cartesian dikumpulkan dari tes. Hasil penelitian ini adalah 96,15% mampu menafsirkan. Pertanyaan sistem koordinat memiliki indeks kesulitan sedang.

Abstract

This study was aimed to describe ability of prospective student educators in using computer technology to develop mathematics learning multimedia. The ability was used to develop Power Point multimedia and Adobe Flash multimedia. This study was descriptive research with 27 prospective student educators as a subject. Researcher was main instrument assisted product evaluation rubric and questionnaire. The result showed that the average of ability of prospective student educators in using computer technology was in good category. The average score were 77,59  in using Power Point multimedia and 74,54 in using Adobe Flash multimedia. The ability was sufficiently to be used in learning and teaching. From the product analyzed and questionnaire, we found that the ability were not maximal because there were many tools untapped primarily in Adobe Flash. Unfamiliar yet in used also became a factor that affected the ability of prospective educators in using computer technology. Keywords: The ability in using computer technology, mathematics learning multimedia, prospective educators

Abstract

This study aims to (1) determine whether or not there are some differences in effectiveness of flat-sides space learning using problem-based learning approach and the one usingconventional learning approach viewed from critical thinking skills, learning outcomes, and attitudes towards mathematics and (2) search the comparative effectiveness of every variable.It is a quasi experimental study with control-group design. The population is the eighth-year students of SMPN 2 Sentolo. To obtain the sample, this research made use of purposivesampling technique. One class of the school was chosen as a control class and another as an experiment class which was homogenous and was in fulfillment of the assumptions ofnormality judged from the pretest result. Test on normality assumptions of pretest and posttest data was multivariately analyzed using test of Mahalanobis distance. While, test onhomogeneity of variance-covariance matrix was analyzed using the homogeneity of Box's M test. And, test on hypotheses was analyzed using two-group MANOVA and Post-Hoc procedure. The result of the two-group MANOVA showed that there were differences of effectiveness between flat-sides space learning using problem-based learning approach and the one using conventional learning approach seen from critical thinking skills, learning outcomes, and attitudes towards mathematics simultaneously. The result of the Post-Hoc procedure indicated that flat-sides space learning using problem-based learning approach was more effective than the one using conventional learning approach in terms of critical thinking skills and learning outcomes, but not in terms of attitudes towards mathematics.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the understanding of the concept of the Fractions operations of Mappi students. This was qualitative research with the subject were 5 students from Mappi Regency, Papua in the Class A matriculation program. The study was conducted in February-May 2019. Data were obtained from written test results and were strengthened by interview results. Test results and interviews were analyzed descriptively and qualitatively. The results showed that the five students of Class A matriculation program had different concept understanding abilities. Subject 1 could understand the concepts of addition and subtraction in the fraction operation and changed the form of mixed fractions into ordinary fractions. Subject 2 could understand the concept of addition in fraction operations and change the form of mixed fractions into ordinary fractions. Subject 3 understands the concepts of addition and subtraction in fraction operations, which could represent and change the form of mixed fractions into ordinary fractions. Subject 4 could understand the concepts of addition and subtraction in the operation of fractions. Subject 5 had a low understanding of the concept and could only change the form of mixed fractions into ordinary fractions. With these results, the conceptual understanding of 5 Mappi students about fractional operations needs to be improved.

Abstract

Quality of learning mathematics is supported by the availability of qualified learning facilities for students, for example worksheet. This study aims to describe how to develop and produce student’s worksheet (LKS) of flat side space, based on Problem-Based Learning (PBL) which is valid and practical. This study is research and development which is held in SMP N 2 Pengasih, Yogyakarta using Thiagarajan development model. The result of study is obtained development process of LKS comprising defining phase, designing phase, developing phase that starts from expert validation, revision, readability test, product revision, field test, and ends with the disseminating phase. The result of expert validation shows that LKS is valid in very good category. LKS practically gets very good category from tehacher assessment. The result of students assessment shows that 43,75% students can use LKS in very good category and 56,25% students can use LKS in good category.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan produk berupa perangkat pembelajaran bangun ruang SMP dengan pendekatan problem-based learning yang valid, praktis, dan efektif dilihat dari pencapaian kompetensi dasar, kemampuan berpikir kritis, dan sikap terhadap matematika. Jenis penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan model 4D yang meliputi tahap pendefinisian, perancangan, pengembangan, dan tahap disseminasi. Hasil penelitian berupa perangkat pembelajaran bangun ruang yang terdiri atas silabus, RPP, LKS, dan instrumen evaluasi berupa tes pencapaian kompetensi dasar dan kemampuan berpikir kritis yang valid, praktis, dan efektif. Kevalidan perangkat mencapai kategori sangat baik ditinjau dari penilaian para ahli. Kepraktisan perangkat mencapai kategori sangat baik ditinjau dari penilaian guru, penilaian peserta didik, dan observasi keterlaksanaan pembelajaran. Aspek keefektifan dipenuhi dari tercapainya minimal 75% peserta didik lulus KKM ditinjau dari pencapaian kompetensi dasar dan berpikir kritis, serta lebih dari 80% peserta didik mempunyai sikap terhadap matematika dalam kategori tinggi. Dari kegiatan ekperimen diperoleh bahwa perangkat yang dikembangkan lebih efektif daripada perangkat pembelajaran konvensional ditinjau dari pencapaian kompetensi dasar, berpikir kritis, dan sikap terhadap matematika.Kata Kunci: pengembangan, perangkat pembelajaran, pendekatan problem-based learning, bangun ruang SMP Developning Space Learning Kits in Junior High School with Problem-Based Learning ApproachAbstractThis study was aimed to produce space learning kits with problem-based learning approach in Junior High School which was valid, practical, and effective based on achievement of basic competence, critical thinking skill, and attitude towards mathematics. This study was and development study using the 4D development model that included defining, designing, developing, and  disseminating phase. This study produced valid, practical, and effective space learning kits that consisted of syllabus, lesson plans, students’ worksheets, and assessment tests that included test of basic competence achievement and critical thinking test. Kits validity gets very good category from expert assessment. Kits practically gets very good category from teachers assessment, students assessment, and observation of learning implementation. The aspect of effectiveness was seen from achievement minimal 75% of the student pass the minimum score for achievement of basic competence and critical thinking skill, and more than 80% of student have attitude toward mathematics in high category. The result of experiment activity shows that the developed learning kits more effective than conventional learning kits based on achievement of basic competence, critical thinking, and attitude toward mathematics.Keywords: development, learning kits, problem-based learning approach, space

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis desain pembelajaran matematika berbasis HOTS serta menganalisis tantangan mahasiswa dalam mengembangkan pembelajaran matematika berbasis HOTS dalam konteks perkuliahan Pengajaran Mikro. Subjek penelitian ini adalah 16 mahasiswa yang mengikuti perkuliahan Pengajaran Mikro kelas B. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah penyebaran angket, observasi, dan wawancara. Data hasil penelitian dianalisis secara kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa desain pembelajaran matematika berbasis HOTS terlihat pada dalam kegiatan pendahuluan, inti, dan penutup pembelajaran. Pada kegiatan pendahuluan, penerapan HOTS terlihat dalam kegiatan apersepsi dan motivasi. Penerapan HOTS pada inti pembelajaran dilakukan dengan memberikan soal atau masalah HOTS, menerapkan pembelajaran berbasis masalah (problem-based), menggunakan alat peraga, gambar, dan media lainnya untuk menemukan konsep, dan melakukan tanya jawab untuk merangsang mahasiswa berpikir kritis. Pada kegiatan penutup, aktivitas HOTS terlihat dalam menarik kesimpulan dan penugasan dengan pemberian proyek. Namun, dalam persiapan dan pelaksanaan pembelajaran, mahasiswa mengalami beberapa tantangan dan kesulitan, diantaranya menemukan ide pembelajaran, membuat masalah dengan level HOTS, tidak mudah membuat mahasiswa memahami materi matematika, memerlukan waktu yang lebih lama dan perlunya pemahaman mendalam mengenai pembelajaran berbasis HOTS. Dengan mengetahui kesulitan-kesulitan yang dialami mahasiswa dalam mendesain pembelajaran berbasis HOTS ini dapat membantu dosen menentukan metode pembelajaran yang tepat untuk meminimalisir kesulitan tersebut.

Abstract

Higher-order thinking skills (HOTS) are essential skills required in 21st-century learning. This study aims to describe students' understanding of HOTS-based mathematics learning holistically. The comprehension in question includes insight into HOTS-based mathematics learning, both general comprehension and HOTS-based mathematics instructional design, and an understanding of HOTS-based problems (insight and ability to solve problems). This research was a qualitative study with the subject of 16 students of class B Micro Teaching lectures. Data were gathered from context questionnaires and HOTS profile questionnaires, observations of learning practices, tests, and interviews. Data analysis used was a qualitative technique consisting of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions and verification. The results showed that the students had a good understanding of HOTS-based mathematics learning. HOTS is understood as a skill that requires critical and creative thinking in solving problems at the level of analysis, evaluation, and creation. The majority of HOTS-based learning activities were shown by giving HOTS questions. Students have a good understanding of HOTS questions but this is not the case in creating and solving problems. Students' ability in solving HOTS level questions still needs to be improved.
