Abstract

The research examines how labor absorption in East Java's Horseshoe region is influenced by several key factors: population, average years of schooling, TPAK, minimum wage, and GRDP per capita. Using panel data regression analysis through the Fixed Effect Model (FEM), determined by Chow and Hausman testing, the investigation adopts a quantitative methodology. The analysis draws on secondary data spanning 2014-2023, sourced from the Central Bureau of Statistics of the corresponding region. The results show that the variables of Total Population and TPAK have a positive and significant effect on employment. Meanwhile, the variables of Average Years of Schooling, Minimum Wage, and GRDP Per Capita have no significant effect, and even tend to be negative. This finding indicates that an increase in the active working-age population contributes to labor absorption, while formal education and wage policies have not been able to optimally encourage labor absorption in the region's dominant informal sector. This study provides policy implications for local governments in encouraging inclusive and quality-based employment growth. Keywords: Labor Absorption, Population, Average Years of Schooling, TPAK, Minimum Wage, GRDP Per Capita.

Abstract

The phenomenon of suboptimal labor absorption in Sidoarjo and Pasuruan districts as the industrial base areas of East Java Province has led to an increase in unemployment problems in both districts. To maximize the potential of existing industries to absorb more labor, it is necessary to analyze the influence of industrial sector factors on the absorption of industrial sector labor in Sidoarjo and Pasuruan districts. This research method uses a quantitative descriptive approach. The type of data used is time series data from 2010-2023. The data analysis technique used is multiple linear regression model analysis using classical assumption test. The results of data analysis found that Industrial GRDP and HDI have a positive and significant effect on employment in Sidoarjo and Pasuruan districts. Meanwhile, the number of industries and industrial investment have no significant and positive effect on employment in Sidoarjo and Pasuruan districts. Furthermore, the minimum wage has a significant and negative effect on employment in Sidoarjo and Pasuruan districts.

Abstract

Banten Province is one of the provinces located on the island of Java with a relatively high level of economic activity. However, the high rate of open unemployment has become one of the hindering factors in the economic development of Banten Province. This research aims to determine the influence of population growth, poverty, education level, and provincial minimum wage on the open unemployment rate in Banten Province. The data used in this study are secondary data obtained from relevant authorities for the period of 2011-2021. The analytical method employed is multiple linear regression analysis. The research findings indicate that poverty and education level, individually, have a significant influence on the open unemployment rate in Banten province. On the other hand, population growth and provincial minimum wage, individually, do not have a significant influence on the open unemployment rate in Banten province. However, when considered collectively, population growth, poverty, education level, and provincial minimum wage have a significant influence on the open unemployment rate in Banten province simultaneously.

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of life expectancy, average years of schooling, and Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) on the Human Development Index (HDI) in Denpasar City. Utilizing annual data from 2010 to 2021 sourced from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the study employs multiple linear regression analysis to discern the relationships among these variables. The findings indicate that both life expectancy and average years of schooling have a positive and significant effect on the HDI in Denpasar City. In contrast, GRDP exhibits a positive but insignificant effect on HDI. These results suggest that enhancing the quality of health and education is the primary driver for improving HDI in Denpasar City. Consequently, initiatives aimed at improving community welfare in Denpasar should prioritize advancements in health and education to achieve superior human development outcomes.

Abstract

This study aimed to develop resistance in shallot (Allium cepa) against twisting disease caused by Fusarium oxysporum by applying microorganism-based biopesticides. By inducing resistance in shallots, the research sought to explore the pathogen-host interactions, understand infection mechanisms, and establish sustainable disease management strategies. Utilizing a biopesticide approach within an organic farming framework, this study aimed to assess the effectiveness of biopesticides in inducing plant defense mechanisms. The experimental design was non-factorial and followed a randomized block structure, consisting of four treatments with three replications each: (A) Chemical pesticide and fertilizer, (B) Biopesticide applied to seeds and plants, with chemical fertilizers on soil, (C) Soil sterilization with biopesticide and pesticide application on plants, and (D) Soil sterilization with biopesticide, with biopesticide applied to seeds and plants. Observations focused on disease intensity and salicylic and jasmonic acid levels in shallot bulbs. Results demonstrated that biopesticide application successfully reduced disease incidence and increased resistance, as shown by higher levels of salicylic and jasmonic acids in treated plants. The study concluded that biopesticides are promising for enhancing systemic resistance in shallots.

Abstract

This research deeply explores the relationship between public awareness in paying taxes and its impact on increasing local revenue realization, a crucial aspect in the sustainability of regional development. In this context, the research employs a descriptive qualitative approach, which allows for an in-depth understanding of the dynamics at play, with a focus on secondary data analysis of local revenue realization. The main findings of this study underline the existence of a significant positive correlation between the level of public awareness in paying taxes and the increase in local revenue realization. More specifically, this study highlights the effectiveness of the *door-to-door* strategy as a highly influential method in raising public awareness of their tax obligations. This approach allows direct interaction between tax officers and taxpayers, which has proven to be effective in increasing public understanding, compliance, and ultimately, contribution to local revenue. In addition, this study also identified other factors that influence people's awareness in paying taxes, such as level of education, understanding of the benefits of taxes, and trust in local government. The implications of this study suggest that a more personalized and educative approach, such as the door-to-door method, is crucial in raising tax awareness. Overall, this study provides valuable insights into the importance of public awareness in paying taxes for increasing local revenue realization. The findings of this study can be the basis for local governments in formulating more effective policies and strategies to increase public awareness and compliance in paying taxes, so that in the end it can support sustainable regional development.
