The background of this study is the nutritional status of mothers during pregnancy which can be influenced by several factors. The nutrition of pregnant women is one of the focuses of community nutrition improvement activities because of its significant impact on the condition of the fetus they are carrying. Nutritional problems that are often encountered in pregnant women are chronic energy deficiency (CED). The average level of education of the Indonesian population, especially women, is still low, this has an impact on health, encouraging infectious diseases and malnutrition. The 2018 Basic Health Research (Riskesdas) showed that the prevalence of CED risk in pregnant women (15-49 years) was still quite high, namely 17.3%. The percentage of pregnant women with CED is expected to decrease by 1.5% each year. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between education and maternal nutritional status during pregnancy at the Musuk I Health Center. The design of this study used a quantitative descriptive research type using a retrospective approach, the population technique used simple random sampling in the chi-square method, the population was 430 people who came from January to December 2023, using the slovin formula, a sample of 81 respondents was found. Research Results There is a significant relationship between maternal education and maternal nutritional status during pregnancy at the Musuk I Health Center. The results of the chi-square test obtained a value of ρ value = 0.046 <ɑ = 0.05, which means that there is a relationship between maternal education and maternal nutritional status during pregnancy at the Musuk I Health Center.

Abstract

Ibu hamil terlihat antusias selama mengikuti permainan. Perwakilan setiap kelompok menyelesaikan permainan sejak awal hingga akhir. Anggota lain pun ikut terlibat dengan memberi bantuan jawaban sesuai pertanyaan yang didapatkan kelompoknya. Beberapa ibu hamil bertanya mengenai mitos ataupun informasi yang masih kurang dipahami. Hasil Uji Wilcoxon pengetahuan ibu hamil sebelum dan sesudah mengikuti permainan ular tangga didapatkan nilai ρ = 0,001. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa edukasi melalui permainan ular tangga terbukti meningkatkan pengetahuan ibu hamil tentang kehamilan berisiko tinggi.

Abstract

Abstract

Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) remains a significant public health challenge in Indonesia. Educational initiatives such as antenatal classes (kelas ibu hamil) serve as strategic promotive and preventive measures to improve maternal knowledge and preparedness for childbirth. This community service activity aimed to enhance pregnant women’s readiness by delivering interactive education covering danger signs during pregnancy, birth planning, family support, and stress management. The program involved 10 pregnant women in Polengan Village, who participated in a pre-test, an educational session, and a post-test. Results showed a significant increase in the average score from 62.5 to 90.0. Notable improvements were observed in knowledge of pregnancy danger signs (from 60% to 90%), planning for delivery and support persons (from 50% to 100%), and awareness of the importance of emotional support and stress management (from 40% to 80%). This program demonstrates that antenatal classes are an effective tool to improve maternal readiness, contribute to reducing MMR, and support the development of a healthier and more empowered future generation. Abstract

Pregnancy in adolescence has a high risk for the health of the mother and fetus, one of which is caused by an imbalance in nutritional intake. Pregnant adolescents often do not understand the increased nutritional needs during pregnancy, and are still influenced by physical complaints such as nausea and cultural beliefs related to food taboos. Explaining the fulfillment of balanced nutrition in adolescent pregnancy in the Kalibaru Village Health Center area, North Jakarta. This study used a qualitative approach with a phenomenological design. The main informants were five pregnant adolescents aged 17–19 years, and supporting informants consisted of families, cadres, and midwives. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman method. Pregnant adolescents generally eat three meals a day with snacks, with a variety of foods such as vegetables, fruits, fish, and milk. However, nausea in the first trimester is a major obstacle in fulfilling nutrition. In addition, some informants continue to consume foods that are considered taboo due to a lack of understanding of the risks or benefits of these foods. Fulfilling the nutrition of pregnant adolescents still faces challenges from both physical factors (nausea) and socio-cultural factors. Evidence-based nutrition education and assistance involving families and health workers are needed.
