Abstract

Quality Control is very important in efforts to minimize the number of defective products. One of them is in small and medium businesses in the Kerudung Micro Small And Medium Enterprises in Sukowati Bungah Village, Gresik District, Gresik Regency. This Micro Small And Medium Enterprises owned by Ms. Hj difficultiawati. The purpose of this research is to analyze the defects of veil products by using the Six Sigma method namely DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analuze, Improve, Control). The results of this study indicate that the company has a total number of disability veils of 225 units consisting of untidy edge trimming, creased fabric, holes in the veil fabric, less neat screen printing, inappropriate colors. In the process of making this veil there is a value of the damage ratio on goods by calculating the upper control limit (UCL) of 134.9761 and the Lower Control Limit (LCL) of 73.6899 and the average damage to the CL veil of 104.3333 currently at level 1 sigma so that improvements need to be made to achieve level 6 sigma. Using the Pareto diagram tool and for quality improvement improvements were made to the veil disability with SIPOC (Supplier, Input, Process, Output, Customer).

Abstract

The demand for environmentally friendly materials has driven the utilization of natural fiber–based biocomposites as an alternative engineering material. This study aims to optimize the injection molding process parameters of polypropylene (PP)–sisal fiber biocomposites with the aid of maleic anhydride polypropylene (MAPP) as a compatibilizer. The research scope covers the effect of process parameter variations on the mechanical properties, particularly impact strength. The composite material consists of 85% PP, 10% sisal fiber, and 5% MAPP, which were extruded into pellets prior to processing using an injection molding machine. Optimization was carried out using the Taguchi method with an L9 (3⁴) orthogonal array design. Four main parameters were investigated: barrel temperature (200°C, 210°C, 220 °C), injection pressure (50 bar, 55 bar, 60 bar), holding pressure (40 bar, 45 bar, 50 bar), and injection velocity (60 mm/s, 65 mm/s, 70 mm/s). The response variable was impact strength (kJ/m²) according to ASTM D256-04 standards, while other parameters were kept constant. Data were analyzed using the Signal-to-Noise Ratio (S/N ratio) with the “larger-the-better” criterion to obtain the optimum condition. The results showed that the optimum parameter combination A1B3C3D2 (200 °C, 60 bar, 50 bar, 65 mm/s) provided the best response, as this combination yielded the highest Signal-to-Noise ratio with a more stable impact performance. Under these conditions, the material flowed well into the mold, fiber distribution was uniform, and stronger bonding occurred between fiber and matrix, thereby enhancing the mechanical properties.

Abstract

Salah satu perusahaan minyak dan gas bertujuan untuk mengganti jaringan pipa yang ada di wilayah kerja Brantas dikarenakan umur pemakaian sudah hampir melebihi umur desain dan harus diganti dengan desain baru, sehingga diperlukan pigging pemeliharaan dan perawatan pipeline agar memiliki lifetime yang cukup lama dengan alat untuk pigging berupa pig launcher. Untuk mengatasi hal tersebut diperlukan desain pig launcher dengan design pressure sebesar 680 psig dan design temperature sebesar 200 ˚F yang disimulasikan dengan finite element methode dengan memperhatikan beban pipeline pada pig launcher. Hasil analisis menghasilkan equivalent von mises pada kondisi hydrotest 30226 psi, operating 35704 psi, sustained 30178 psi, expansion 33833 psi dan maximum shear stress pada kondisi hydrotest 15381 psi, operating 17985 psi, sustained 15364 psi, expansion 17043 psi dan total deformation pada kondisi hydrotest 0,077553 inch, operating 0,10245 inch, sustained 0,077695 inch, expansion 0,10094 inch dimana nilai tersebut yakni  equivalent von mises, maximum shear stress dan total deformation masih dibawah allowable sehingga desain dapat diterima berdasarkan ASME VIII Divisi I.
