Abstract

Infectious diseases are diseases caused by the entry and growth of microorganisms, one of which is pathogenic bacteria (Novard et al., 2019). High use of antibiotics for infectious diseases increases the risk of irrational antibiotic use which can result in the therapeutic goal not being achieved. This study aims to determine based on patient characteristics, the profile of antibiotic use in hospitalized patients at RSU. HKBP Balige and the quantity of antibiotic use in DDD units. This study is observational (non-experimental) which was conducted retrospectively using data obtained from the Hospital Information System (SIRS) for the period January-April 2024 in the form of drug names, dosage forms, dosage strengths, quantity of use, number of hospitalized patients per month, length of hospitalization. Data analysis in this study used the quantitative Anatomical Therapeutic Chemical (ATC) / Defined Daily Dose (DDD) and Drug Utilization 90% (DU90%) methods. The results of the study showed that there were 2 types of antibiotics used in dengue fever patients during 2024 with an average total usage value of 280.07 DDD/100 HR. The most widely used types of antibiotics were cefixime (66.70%) and cefotaxime (33.30%), and the most common route of antibiotic administration was intravenous, and the most frequent duration of antibiotic therapy was <3 days (85.71%).

Abstract

Background: In general, people consume catfish meat as a source of protein and a high content of omega 3, while the bones are disposed of as waste. Collagen is a protein derivative that has the effect of maintaining skin elasticity. Objective: To find out whether the catfish bone collagen can be formulated into lotions which in certain consentration can moisturize and do not irritate the skin. Method: Extraction of collagen from catfish bones, characterization of collagen by infrared spectrophotometry, making collagen lotion of catfish bones with a concentration of 1%, 1.5%, 2.5%, 3.5% and evaluation of collagen lotion preparations and test the ability of the preparation to moisturize. skin using a Skin moisturizer detector (SG- ed statistically using the ANOVA test with SPSS 20 Free trial. Result: Catfish bones contained collagen in waves of 3250-3350 cm-1 and 1260-1630 cm-1 which indicated the presence of amine and amide groups. The statistical test results show the probability is smaller than 0.05. The highest humidity was in the FE formula which contained 3.5% collagen with a moisture percentage of 53.0% with a level of "Moist" but lower than the lotions on the market with a percentage of 54.3%. Conclusion: Catfish bone collagen can be formulated into oil-in-water (M/A) emulsion type lotion.

Abstract

Abstract

Houseflies are a vector that can transmit diarrheal diseases. Diarrheal disease is the leading cause of under-five mortality in Indonesia at 10.3%, so fly control is a necessity. One method of fly control is the use of vegetable repellent. This study aims to determine the relative effectiveness of repellent solutions derived from fragrant pandanus leaf (Pandanus amaryllifolius Roxb.) and mango golek leaf (Mangifera indica) against houseflies (Musca domestica). This research used a true experiment with a posttest only control group design. The sample houseflies (Musca domestica) with 270 flies in 3 repetitions. Data was analyzed using a two-way ANOVA test. The results showed a difference in repellent effectiveness of fragrant pandanus leaf solution and golek mango leaf solution. The difference in repellent power of fragrant pandanus leaf solution with a concentration of 5% by 25%, 10% by 25%, 15% by 37.5% and 20% by 50%. While golek mango leaf solution with a concentration of 5% by 50%, 10% by 50%, 15% by 62.5%, and 20% by 75%. There is a difference in repellent effectiveness. It is recommended that the community utilize the golek mango leaf solution as an environmentally friendly alternative to repel houseflies (Musca domestica).
