Abstract

Climate, particularly environmental temperature, plays an important role in diseases caused by plant viruses. This study investigated the role of environmental temperature and humidity on development of Tobacco mosaic virus (TMV) on pepper (Capsicum anuum L). The research was conducted by using regression analysis. The results showed that TMV infection in plants could inhibit the growth of chili peppers. The temperature influenced disease development of TMV for up to 56,6%, whereas the humidity did not influence TMV disease development. Keywords: temperature, humadity, TMV, disease development, pepper

Abstract

The objective of this study was to study the growth and yield of Soybean (Glicine max L. Mer) treated by guano fertilizer and tall grass mulch, conducted from July to September 211 in  Experimental Garden of Agriculture, Univesity of Haluoleo, Kendari. The study wass arrange on Randomized Completely Block Design in factorial pattern, consisting of two factors.   The first factor  was  guano fertilizer (G),  consisting of four level i.e. without guano fertilizer (G0),  4 t ha-1of guano fertilizer (G1), 8 t ha-1of guano fertilizer(G2), and 12 t ha-1guano fertilizer (G3). Second factor is was tall grass mulch(M) consisting  of four level i.e. without mulch(M0), 5 t ha-1,(M1), 10 t ha-1,(M2), and 15 tha-1. (M3). Eachcombination was repeated tree times as block so there were 48 experimental units. Variabel observed were plant height, number of pods formed, number of seed planting, dry weight of 100 seed and yield in t ha-1.  The  results of the research   indicate that the effects of interaction between guano ferlizer and tall grass mulch were significantly difference on plant height, number of pods formed, number of seed planting, dry weight of 100 seed adn yield in t ha-1. Keywords : soybeans, guano fertilizer, mulch

Abstract

ABSTRACT The research was conducted to study seedling and growth of Brassica juncea applied with nutriflora liquid Fertilizer on hydrophonix system.  The experiment has been carried out from September to December 2010 at Anduonohu, Haluoleo University Campus. The research was arranged in a randomized blocked design with three replications and five liquid fertilizer dosages; 2,5 ml L-1  water, 5,0 ml L-1  water, 7,5 ml L-1  water, 10 ml L-1 water, and 12,5 ml L-1  water.     Characters observed were seedling percentage (%), vigor index, seedling dry weight (g), number of leaf, plant height (cm), fresh weight (g), shoot root ratio, and dry weight (g). The results of research indicated seedling and growth of Brassica juncea increased with application of nutriflora liquid fertilizer on hydrophonix system. The highest fresh weight of Brassica juncea occurred with the application of 7.5 ml L-1 water of nutriflora liquid ferlizer, and the highest dry weight of Brassica juncea occurred with the application10 ml L-1  water nutriflora liquid fertilizer.  Nutriflora liquid fertilizer applied significantly correlated with the fresh and dry weights. Keywords: seedling, growth, Brassica juncea, liquid fertilizer

Abstract

This study was to determine differences in the distribution of photosynthate of vegetative phase of several varieties of soybean (Glycine max L. Merril) cultivated on acid soil of Southeast Sulawesi. This research was conducted in the sub district Anduonohu, Poasia district and at Agrotechnology Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture University Halu Oleo, Kendari from July to October 2013. The research design used was randomized block design (RBD) with three replications. Variety treatment consisted of varieties Kaba, Argomulyo, Tanggamus, Grobogan and Gema.  The variables observed in this study were root dry weight, stem dry weight, leaf dry weight, stem dry weight, and branch dry weight. Results of statistical analysis of the data showed that the treatment affected the distribution of photosynthate on different plant varieties. Different varieties gave significant effect on root dry weight, stem dry weight, leaf dry weight, branch dry weight.Keywords : Acid soils, distribution of photosynthate, soybean, varieties
