Abstract

This study aims to analyze a comparative perspective of education systems in Indonesia, Europe, and America. The main focus is to identify differences in educational approaches, curriculum structures, teaching methods, and the challenges faced by Indonesia in enhancing its education quality and global competitiveness. A qualitative library research method was employed, reviewing literature related to the education systems of the three regions. The results show that Europe emphasizes equitable access, flexibility, and competency-based education tailored to local needs. In contrast, the United States adopts a decentralized system, encouraging student freedom in course selection and non-academic skill development through extracurricular activities. Meanwhile, Indonesia applies a more centralized curriculum focusing on uniformity and cultural-moral values. Indonesia’s main challenges include achieving equitable access to quality education, improving teacher capacity, and integrating technology into learning processes. This conclusions represent that Indonesia can adopt best practices from Europe and America, such as curriculum flexibility, competency-based approaches, and technology utilization, to create a more innovative and inclusive education system.

Abstract

Islamic finance is one of the sectors with great potential in supporting global economic growth, especially in countries with a Muslim majority population such as Indonesia. However, the development of this sector still faces challenges, especially the low level of Islamic financial literacy and inclusion. Islamic financial literacy is related to the public's understanding of the principles, products, and benefits of Islamic finance, while inclusion reflects the extent to which the public has access to Islamic financial services. The purpose of this study is to discuss strategies that can be applied to improve Islamic financial literacy and inclusion, including through community-based education, digitalization of financial services, increasing product innovation, and strengthening supporting policies. The methodology used is a descriptive qualitative approach. This approach was chosen because it provides space to gain a deep understanding of the phenomenon being studied, namely the role of Islamic financial literacy and inclusion. The results of the discussion show that synergy between the government, Islamic financial institutions, and the community is needed to overcome existing obstacles. With the right approach, Islamic finance can not only be an alternative, but also an inclusive and sustainable financial solution, and contribute to national economic development.

Abstract

Sustainable and adequate urban sanitation development is a fundamental aspect of realizing healthy, inclusive, and resilient cities. However, local fiscal limitations, suboptimal institutional capacity, and the low involvement of multiple stakeholders pose significant challenges in providing safe sanitation services in Depok City and Bogor City. The Public-Private Partnership (PPP) scheme is viewed as a strategic alternative to bridging financing gaps while improving the efficiency and quality of urban sanitation services. This study aims to analyze the challenges of urban sanitation development in Depok and Bogor, identify key factors influencing private sector involvement through PPP schemes, and formulate sustainable urban sanitation development strategies involving the private sector. The study employs a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques including in-depth interviews, observations, and document studies with key informants from local governments, business actors, sanitation practitioners, and community representatives. The results indicate that the main challenges include weak tariff regulation, limited inter-agency coordination, low public awareness, and inadequate integrated fecal sludge management services. The key factors influencing private sector engagement include legal certainty, project economic scale, availability of technical data, and the readiness of local government institutions. This research recommends strengthening regulations and planning, establishing Badan Layanan Umum Daerah (BLUD) for sanitation management, enhancing multi-stakeholder collaboration, and developing attractive PPP schemes for private partners as part of efforts to accelerate the achievement of safe and sustainable urban sanitation targets.

Abstract

This research aims to explore the role and relevance of local wisdom in facing the impacts of human-induced (anthropogenic) climate change. The main focus of this research is to identify how knowledge and practice of The local community can assist the community in adapting to the increasing environmental challenges. This research method uses a descriptive qualitative approach. Agriculture in Jayapura Regency is generally a plantation. Central Maluku is a plantation area which is generally a smallholder plantation. While in Manggarai Regency, dry land agriculture is common. Climate change projections in Jayapura Regency show a tendency to shift. While in Yapen Regency, Kaimana Regency, Maluku Regency, Maybrat Regency, West Halmahera Regency and Central Maluku Regency do not show any significant changes compared to baseline conditions. And in Kabupaten Manggarai there is the potential for climate change. Regional vulnerability was conducted at TEKAD target locations. In general, the level of village vulnerability is quite varied from non-vulnerable villages to vulnerable villages. Adaptation options in general that can be done include controlling drought, floods, landslides, improving farming and increasing food security, building and managing food granaries, strengthening community capacity, handling sea level rise, sea water abrasion and high waves.

Abstract

Tangerang Regency spans an area of 377.40 km2 of sea and 298.52 km2 of coastline. The ongoing pandemic has impacted the social systems of villages, particularly in terms of resource governance, including Suryabahari Village in Tangerang Regency. This community service aims to quickly identify the economic potential of coastal communities and raise awareness of the importance of rearranging the village's social system in light of recent changes brought on by the pandemic. The methods employed in this activity include discussions, interviews, and focus group discussions. Discussions were held with the Pakuhaji Sub-District Government and the Suryabahari Village Government to understand the village's potential and challenges. Interviews were conducted with a number of village community leaders to swiftly map the village's potential. Focus group discussions involved representatives from the sub-district government, village government, and the community. The results indicate that a majority of the community demonstrates a high level of resignation towards the changing environment, primarily due to a lack of awareness and available solutions. However, after receiving education, people began to recognize the environmental threats and the need for change.

Abstract

Batam's significant economic potential in the Indonesia-Malaysia-Singapore Growth Triangle (IMS-GT), which is attributed to its strategic location near Singapore, high level of security, modern economic sector, advanced infrastructure, and large purchasing power among its population. In this research, the methodology used is autoethnography, with a focus on personal reflection and narrative analysis, with data collected through journals, participant observation and interviews. The Government Cooperation Agreement with Business Entities (GCA), is an alternative collaboration between the Person in Charge of the Cooperation Project (GCA) and the Implementing Business Entity (IBE) which is mutually beneficial for the Parties. Hang Nadim International Airport is the object of PPP cooperation from the Brown Field Project-solicited which was initiated by BP Batam as GCA. The value of the final stage investment project is estimated to be more than IDR 10 trillion. Through an auction process, it was won by a consortium consisting of PT Angkasa Pura 1 with 51% shares, Incheon International Airport (South Korea) with 30% shares, PT WIKA with 19% shares (before dilution). After 3 (three) years of operation, the public using airport services has enjoyed it a lot. The Passenger Terminal Building is better organized, services and facilities at the airport are better with a value (Level Of Service – ref. Minister of Transportation Regulation Number 178 of 2015) of more than 90%. In the near future, Terminal 2 will also be built - with more sophisticated facilities. And besides that, BP Batam as PJPK has obtained concessions each year for a minimum of IDR 50 billion+. In 2025, based on the agreement of the Parties, it will increase to IDR 90 billion+ and share the Revenue of the Cargo Terminal Building. On the other hand, BUP in the first year still suffered losses and in the second and third years it managed to make a profit. Conclusively, the PPP model is suitable for Indonesia, allowing infrastructure development without using APBN funds, improving service quality, and ensuring predictable revenues for the GCA. Apart from the advantages that have been presented, there are obstacles which cannot be addressed in this study. It is hoped that in the coming year there will be significant improvements both in the construction of Terminal 2 and other supporting facilities.
