Abstract

This community service (PKM) activity aims to overcome the problems experienced by teachers at Pesisir Elementary School. new silo village, X hamlet, Silo Laut District, Asahan Regency. Namely the difficulty of teachers in cultivating students' interest in studying mathematics and the lack of a fun learning approach, one of which is the use of the Puzzle Straw mathematics props. Mathematical Straw Puzzles are puzzles that involve arranging straws to complete a challenge or achieve a certain goal. This can be a creative and fun form of puzzle or game involving the manipulation or arrangement of straws. This service activity was attended by 6 Pesisir Elementary School teachers. The results of this PKM activity are: 1) Students are more enthusiastic in learning mathematics, especially in geometric geometric material. This is because the Puzzle Straw teaching aid allows students to directly explore geometric concepts of geometric shapes. Students not only sit and listen to the teacher's explanation, but can also see directly all the objects in the props, carry out gradual exploration, and demonstrate the physical objects of the props. 2) Teachers' enthusiasm for responding to PKM program material has increased. This is indicated by the number of teachers asking questions, suggestions and criticism, as well as providing solution views on the application of Puzzle Straw teaching aids in elementary schools. 3) There has been a significant increase in teachers' knowledge and understanding of elementary school mathematics concepts, as well as the benefits of the Puzzle Straw teaching aids in elementary school mathematics learning, especially the concept of spatial geometry. This can be seen from the number of teachers who can answer questions about elementary school mathematics concepts, and can explain the benefits of the Puzzle Straw teaching aids in elementary school mathematics learning.

Abstract

When it is done appropriately, the transition from traditional classroom instruction to technology-based instruction in English language instruction has a lot of potential advantages. A few crucial aspects of its implementation to consider include selecting appropriate technology and emphasizing vocabulary expansion. There is a great chance that training targeted at increasing students' vocabulary following the use of audio-visuals in English language learning will boost their motivation even more. Participants from Silo Baru Village's coastal primary schools will have the chance to learn more about this technology in particular. It is hoped that by using audio-visual media to enhance vocabulary acquisition, students will become more intrinsically motivated as a result of this training activity. It is thought that since kids are really interested in studying, they would be able to concentrate more on improving their mastery of vocabulary in English. It is important to monitor and evaluate the impact of this training, both in terms of increasing vocabulary and in students' learning motivation. The data and feedback obtained from this activity will be key to assessing the effectiveness of audio-visual technology in improving the English language skills of coastal elementary schools in the new silo village of Asahan Regency.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the role of lecturers in overcoming students' difficulties in active speaking using the Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) approach in English courses in the IAIDU Asahan Islamic Religious Education (PAI) Study Program. English speaking skills are one of the important competencies that students must master, especially in this era of globalization. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method by collecting data through observation, interviews, and document analysis. The research subjects were lecturers and students at the PAI IAIDU Asahan Study Program. The research results show that the role of lecturers is very significant in helping students overcome their difficulties in active speaking. The application of CLT has proven to be effective in improving students' active speaking skills, because this approach emphasizes the use of language in real communication contexts, provides interactive exercises, and creates a supportive learning environment. This research also found that the lecturer's role is not only as a facilitator but also as a motivator and guide who provides constructive feedback and encouragement for students to continue practicing speaking in English. Based on these findings, it is hoped that lecturers can continue to develop adaptive and innovative teaching methods to help students overcome their challenges in active speaking.

The background of the study acknowledges the importance of philosophical inquiry at the master's level and its role in advancing language philosophy. The research objectives are to examine and to categorize the specific domains of the philosophy of language within selected theses, aiming to understand the scope and diversity of discussions in these areas. Employing content analysis and comparative analysis as research methods, the study comprehensively analyzes five master's theses from various disciplines. The technique for data analysis involves a detailed examination of the theses to identify the prevalence and treatment of the three philosophical domains. Research findings reveal a rich tapestry of perspectives on ontology, axiology, and epistemology, each thesis contributing uniquely to the field. The conclusion highlights the complexity and diverse nature of contemporary language philosophy. This study serves as evidence to the varied and intricate discussions shaping the philosophy of language today.
