Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk memperkaya dan memperluas pengalaman guru-guru dalam penggunaan aplikasi digital pembelajaran daring untuk menudukung kegiatan pembelajaran selama masa pandemi. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan ini adalah pelatihan penggunaan beberapa aplikasi digital seperti mentimeter, socrative, dan quizzes. Hasil dari kegiatan pelatihan ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa guru-guru yang diberikan pelatihan penggunaan aplikasi digital dapat mengeksplorasi penggunaan aplikasi tersebut dengan baik dan membantu mereka dalam mempersiapkan materi pembelajaran yang lebih menarik perhatian siswa.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to investigate if Concept Sentence Technique significantly affected students’ achievement in writing narrative. This research was conducted by using experimental research design. The population was all students of grade X TKJ of PAB-10 Patumbak with the total number of students was 30 students. There were two parallel classes, namely X TKJ-1 and X TKJ-2. Each class consisted of 15 students. By employing cluster random sampling technique, X TKJ-1was selected as experimental group and X TKJ-2 was selected as control group. The experimental group was taught by applying Concept Sentence Technique, while the control group was taught by applying Conventional Technique. The instrument for collecting the data was writing test. The data were analyzed by using Mann Whitney U-test Formula. After the data had been calculated, it was found that the smaller U-observed value was 11.9. It was smaller than U-table value which was 75 at p=0.05 (11.9 < 64). It meant that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was successfully accepted and Null Hypothesis (Ho) was successfully rejected. Based on the research finding, it was found that Concept Sentence Technique significantly affected students’ achievement in writing narrative.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to develop appropriate listening materials through song for the eleventh grade students of Network Computer Engineering at SMK Karya Setia Pegajahan. This study was a Research and Development (R & D). The steps of this study were: conducting needs analysis, designing the syllabus and the first draft of the material, judging by expert, and writing the final draft of the materials. The results of the study indicated that (1) English is very important for future job as a technician; (2) Mastering English is crucial to pass the National Examination; (3) The students also want the teacher to explain the formulas before discussing a task and leading the students in discussing a particular text. The activities applied five steps of the scientific approach: observing, questioning, collecting, analyzing, and communicating. Based on the data analysis from the expert judgment, the mean score of all aspects of the three developed units is 3.88 which is in the range of 3.25 ≤ x̄ ≤ 4.00 and can be categorized as “Very Good”.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find out how the application of mind mapping method in improving students’wrting skill of descriptive paragraph of grade X students in SMA Harapan 3 Medan Harapan 3 Medan. This research is a Classroom Action Research. The subjects in this study were students of grade X SMA harapan 3 Medan.. While the object of this study is the application of mind mapping method in improving students’ writing skill of descriptive paragraph . Based on the results of the study, it was found that from the results of the action as much as 2 (two) cycles in grade X students of SMA Harapan 3 Medan concluded that the use of mind mapping method can improve writing skill of  descriptive paragraph. From the results of the Cycle I and Cycle II activities as many as 70% of students were declared complete in the writing material of  descriptive text with an average value of 71. Thus this study was stated to be successful and it could be said that the use of mind mapping method could improve students'wrting skill of descriptive paragraph.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to investigate if Gallery Walk Technique significantly affects students’ speaking skill. The design used in this research was experimental research design. The population of this research was the students of grade X of SMA Pelita Bulu Cina. The total number of the population was 30 students. Cluster sampling technique was used in drawing the sample. So, 15 students were selected into the experimental group (X-I) and 15 students were selected into control group (X-II). Speaking test was used as the instrument of this research. The data were analysed by using Mann Whitney U-test formula. It was found that the smaller U-observed value was 1. It was smaller than U-table value which was 64 at p = 0,05 (1 64). Thus, Ha was accepted and Ho was successfully rejected. Thus, Gallery Walk Technique significantly affects students’ speaking skill.

Abstract

This study is aimed at improving students’ speaking skill through Two Stay Two Stray Strategy. This study was a classroom action research. The subject of the research was the students of class X MIA-1 at SMA Teladan Sei Rampah consisting of 32 students. The research was conducted in two cycles consisting of three meetings in each. The instruments for collecting data were speaking test, observation sheet, diary notes and questionnaire. Based on the speaking test results, students’ scores kept improving in every test. On the orientation test, the mean score was 39.5. There were no students gaining score ≥ 75. In the first meeting of Cycle I, the mean score was 43. There were no students gaining score ≥ 75. In the second meeting, the mean score was 47.3. There were no students gaining score ≥ 75. In the third meeting, the mean score was 49.36. There were no students gaining score ≥ 75. In the first meeting of Cycle II, the mean score was 57.5. The number of students gaining score ≥ 75 was 5 (15.6%). In the second meeting, the mean score was 72.78. The number of students gaining score ≥ 75 was 20 (62.5%). In the third meeting, the mean score was 82.30. The number of students obtaining score ≥ 75 was 30 (93.75%). Based on the observation sheet, diary notes, and questionnaire, it was revealed the learning process ran well. The students were active and enthusiastic in learning. Thus, Two Stay Two Stray Strategy can improve students’ speaking skill

Abstract

The objective of this study is to find out whether Roundtable Strategy significantly affects students’ achievement in writing descriptive text. It was conducted by using experimental research design. The population of this research was the tenth grade students of SMK Dwi Tunggal Tanjung Morawa which consisted of two parallel classes with the total number of students was 70. By applying cluster random sampling technique, class X TKJ-2 consisting of 35 students was selected as the experimental group and class X TKJ-1 consisting of 35 students was selected as the control group. The instrument for collecting the data was writing test. The data were analyzed by using t-test formula. It was found the value of t-observed was 3.15 with the degree of freedom (df)=58 at the level of significance α=0.05. It meant that t-observed value was higher than t-table value (3.15>2.00). In conclusion, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted and the null hypothesis (Ho) was succesfully rejected. Thus, Roundtable Strategy significantly affects students’ achievement in writing descriptive text.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh problematika yang dihadapi oleh mahasiswa dan dosen ketika pembelajaran daring selama pandemi Covid-19. Mahasiswa dan dosen belum beradaptasi dengan pembelajaran daring karena ketidakmampuan menggunakan aplikasi dan berbagai faktor lainnya. Oleh sebab itu, mahasiswa dan dosen perlu dibekali dengan literasi teknologi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis perspektif mahasiswa dan dosen terhadap pembelajaran daring akibat pandemi Covid-19 serta mengetahui upaya yang dapat dilakukan FKIP Univa Medan untuk membekali mahasiswa sebagai calon guru untuk menjawab peluang dan tantangan dalam pembelajaran daring di Era 4.0. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif. Responden penelitian adalah mahasiswa semester VI dan dosen pengampu mata kuliah dengan jumlah 70 orang. Data diperoleh dengan instrumen observasi, kuesioner, dan wawancara. Analisis data meliputi tahap reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Dari hasil pengumpulan data sekunder dapat dilihat bahwa dosen mengkombinasikan metode pembelajaran daring synchronous dan asynchronous. Terdapat dua jenis perspektif yang dianalisis yaitu perspektif kognitif dan perilaku. Dari hasil analisis data diketahui bahwa responden memiliki perspektif kognitif dan perspektif perilaku yang positif terhadap pembelajaran daring karena responden sangat setuju bahwa pembelajaran daring merupakan solusi yang tepat di masa pandemi Covid-19 serta berbagai kemudahan diperoleh dalam pembelajaran tersebut. Perspektif perilaku yang negatif muncul hanya karena adanya kendala internal dan eksternal yang dihadapi dalam pembelajaran daring. Upaya yang dapat dilakukan untuk membekali mahasiswa menghadapi peluang dan tantangan dalam pembelajaran daring di Era 4.0 yaitu dengan memasukkan mata kuliah baru antara lain literasi teknologi, ICT dan multimedia dalam pembelajaran, dan micro teaching pembelajaran daring ke dalam kurikulum program studi.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to improve students’ achievement in writing descriptive through collaborative writing. This research was conducted at SMP Negeri 28 Medan academic year 2018-2019 as the subject of researcher. The subject of this research consisted of 35 students of the eighth grade. The research was conducted with classroom action research. The research was conducted by dividing into two cycles with 6 meeting for each. The sources of data were qualitative and quantitative. The qualitative data were collected by observation sheets, questionnaires and diary notes. Quantitative data were taken from tests, carried out at the end of every cycle. Based on the result of the data analysis there was an improvement of the result of the students’ achievement in writing descriptive text from each cycle. After doing test on cycle I, there was an improvement of the result of the students’ mean was 72.8 with 24 students who got successful score criteria above 70 or it was 69 % and 11 students who got unsuccessful score criteria above 70 or it was 31 %. Then, an improvement was done in second cycle after reflection in the first cycle, there was an improvement of students’ mean was 77.9 with 31 students who got successful score criteria above 70 or it was 89 % and 4 students who got unsuccessful score criteria above 70 or it was 11 %. In other words, the students’ achievement at writing descriptive text was improved. And based on questionnaire sheets, observation sheets, diary notes, and documentation, it showed that the expression and excitement of the students were also improved.
