Abstract

Background:Perineal wounds in postpartum mothers are a common condition following vaginal delivery that requires optimal care to prevent infection and promote healing. The mother's knowledge of perineal wound care is believed to play a crucial role in accelerating the healing process. Objective:To determine the relationship between postpartum mothers' knowledge about perineal wound care and the speed of wound healing. Method:This study used a cross-sectional design with 50 postpartum mothers as respondents at Community Health Center X. Knowledge was measured using a standardized questionnaire, while wound healing speed was assessed using the REEDA Scale on the 7th day postpartum. Data analysis was performed using the Chi-square test at a significance level of 0.05. Results:Of the 50 respondents, 32 mothers (64%) had good knowledge and 28 of them (87.5%) experienced rapid healing. The Chi-square test results showed a p-value of 0.002 (<0.05), indicating a significant relationship between postpartum mothers' knowledge and the speed of perineal wound healing. Conclusion:Good knowledge of postpartum mothers about perineal wound care is significantly related to accelerated wound healing.

Abstract

Green tea (Camellia sinensis) is known to contain polyphenol compounds, especially catechins, which act as antioxidants and photoprotectors against ultraviolet (UV) radiation. This study aims to formulate a sunscreen cream from green tea extract and test its Sun Protection Factor (SPF) value in vitro using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The research methods include green tea leaf extraction by 70% ethanol maceration, cream formulation in three extract concentrations (5%, 10%, and 15%), and SPF testing using the Mansur method. The results showed that increasing the concentration of green tea extract was directly proportional to the increase in SPF value, where a concentration of 15% had an SPF value of 27.4 which is classified as very high protection. The cream formulation also met the organoleptic, pH, homogeneity, and stability test parameters. In conclusion, green tea extract can be formulated into an effective sunscreen cream with a high SPF value.

Abstract

Background: Postoperative pain is a common problem experienced by patients after surgery. Inadequate pain management can slow the recovery process, increase physiological stress, and reduce the patient's quality of life. One non-pharmacological method that can be used is deep breathing relaxation techniques, which aim to increase oxygenation, reduce muscle tension, and provide a calming effect. Objective: To determine the effectiveness of deep breathing relaxation techniques in reducing pain intensity in post-operative patients. Method: The study used a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test approach. post-test control group Design. The sample consisted of 60 elective post-surgery patients at Hospital X, divided into an intervention group (n=30, given deep breathing relaxation techniques) and a control group (n=30, given standard care). Pain intensity was measured using a Visual Analog Scale (VAS) before the intervention and 30 minutes after the intervention. Data analysis was performed using paired t- test and independent t- test. Results: The mean pain score before intervention in the deep breathing relaxation group was 5.8 (SD ±1.2), decreasing to 3.2 (SD ±1.1) after intervention. Meanwhile, in the control group, the pain score before intervention was 5.7 (SD ±1.3) and after 30 minutes it became 5.4 (SD ±1.2). Statistical tests showed a significant difference between the two groups (p < 0.05). Conclusion: Deep breathing relaxation techniques are effective in reducing pain intensity in postoperative patients. This method can be recommended as a simple, inexpensive, and easy-to-implement non-pharmacological therapy to support postoperative pain management.

Abstract

The use of traditional medicines remains a primary choice among the public because they are considered natural, inexpensive, and readily available. However, not all traditional medicines are safe, especially for pregnant women, as some lack distribution permits from the Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM), which carries the risk of containing hazardous materials, non-standardized dosages, or being contaminated with chemical substances (ZKO). This community service activity aims to increase the knowledge of pregnant women and their families regarding the risks of using traditional medicines without distribution permits. The methods used were health education through lectures, interactive discussions, and leaflet distribution. The results of the activity showed an increase in participants' understanding of the dangers of using traditional medicines without distribution permits and the importance of medical consultation before taking medication during pregnancy. It is hoped that this activity will reduce the risky use of traditional medicines and raise awareness of the importance of drug safety for maternal and fetal health.

Abstract

At this time the mother really needs attention, understanding and affection that is more specific otherwise there will be coping failure in the postpartum mother which results in anxiety during the postpartum period. The aim of the research is to analyze the effect of implementing the One Student One Client (OSOC) maternity service model on maternal anxiety levels in the postpartum period at Permata Hati Kisaran Hospital in 2022. Quasi-experimental research with a non-equivalent control group design. The subjects of this study were 80 postpartum mothers divided into 2 groups into the intervention group and the control group. In the intervention group, intervention was given in the form of providing OSOC assistance during the postpartum period, while the control group was given conventional postpartum care. The results showed that there was an effect of applying the OSOC model to a decrease in anxiety in postpartum mothers with a probability of 7.429 times not feeling anxiety compared to those who were not accompanied. The results of data analysis revealed that the OSOC intervention group had an effect on the anxiety level of postpartum mothers with an asymp value. Sig 0.000 (< 0.05). Referring to the results of data analysis and research findings, it can be concluded that the effect of applying the OSOC maternity service model has an effect on the anxiety level of mothers in the postpartum period.
