Abstract

Protected forests play a role in guarding a balanced ecosystem and water resilience by supporting cycle hydrology and preventing the degradation of the environment. However, the low public awareness regarding the importance of forest protection Still becomes a challenge in effort conservation. Research This aims to analyze the effective method of socialization in increasing understanding, attitudes and behaviour of the Larike Village community-related preservation of forest protection as an effort to guard against water resistance. The method used covers discussion group focused (FGD), seminars, training conservation land and water, as well as campaigns through digital media. Evaluation is done through pre-tests and post-tests to measure the change level of public understanding. Research results show an improvement in public understanding from 30% before socialization to 85% after socialization, as well as a change in attitude positive from 40% to 88%. In addition, the behaviour of society in effort conservation increased from 29% to 82%. The conclusion of the study This is that method systematic and community-based socialization participation can increase awareness as well as community involvement in the preservation of forest protection use guard resilience source water power sustainability.

Abstract

Abstract

Natural disasters such as landslides and droughts pose a serious threat to communities living in the mainland of DAS Waeruhu. Therefore, through a social approach to the community, we call socialization about mitigation and adaptation to the disasters of drought and drought in this region. Some of the problems faced by the communities in the region are: (a) the topography of the district is steep, increasing the risk of droughts, especially during the rainy season; (b) forest deforestation greatly increases the risk for drought due to the loss of soil-resistant vegetation; (c) development without good planning, including building houses on steep slopes, may increase drought risk; (d) changes in irregular rain patterns can cause drought, threatening water supply for agriculture and household needs; (e) rising temperatures and global climate change can worsen drought conditions and reduce available water resources; (f) underprivileged populations may find it difficult to build disaster-resilient infrastructure or take necessary mitigation measures; (g) public awareness of risks and depletion, as well as ways to cope with these risks, can be a serious problem; (h) limited access to education can hinder the public's vital understanding of adaptation and disasters.

Abstract

This article explores the utilization of non-timber forest products (NTFPs) within the framework of forest management, particularly in the context of climate change. Employing a qualitative methodology through a comprehensive literature review, the study examines the significance of NTFPs in enhancing forest resilience and supporting local communities. The findings indicate that NTFPs play a crucial role in sustainable forest management by providing alternative livelihoods, contributing to biodiversity conservation, and mitigating the impacts of climate change. The research highlights the importance of integrating NTFPs into forest management strategies, emphasizing their potential to foster adaptive practices that enhance ecosystem services. Furthermore, the study identifies challenges such as overharvesting, lack of market access, and insufficient policy support that hinder the sustainable utilization of NTFPs. Recommendations are provided for policymakers and forest managers to promote the sustainable management of NTFPs, including the development of community-based management approaches and the establishment of fair trade practices. This article contributes to the understanding of the multifaceted role of NTFPs in forest ecosystems and underscores the need for innovative strategies that align conservation goals with the socio-economic needs of local communities in the face of climate change.
