Abstract

The protected forest as life support ideally has a good performance in this case its vegetation, so that its main function can run well. However, as a forest with various functions, the protected forest of Ambon City, especially the Mount Sirimau Protection Forest Group as a strategic protected forest is located upstream of Ambon City which is very influential on the activities of Ambon City as its downstream, because it has a social and economic impact. The performance of a forest area can be seen from its land cover. In addition, the geophysical characteristics of an area will also affect the land cover of the area. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to determine the condition of land cover in the Mount Sirimau Protection Forest Group based on its geophysical characteristics. The research method used was the survey method and the data analysis method was descriptive analysis. The land covers in the Mount Sirimau Protection Forest Group consisted of seven land covers, spreading over soil types, rock types, topography, and slopes. Intensive management of protected forests is needed according to their geophysical characteristics so that the function of protected forests can be more optimal.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Livestock population structure and feed performance have a crucial role in the development of a sustainable livestock industry. The aim of this research is to present a number of portraits of trends in livestock productivity and production of animal feed from agricultural waste in the Yapen Islands Regency (KKY) region which is a regional livestock and agricultural production area. The research uses descriptive research methods with literature review techniques. The objects of observation in this research are livestock production, agricultural crop production, and the need for livestock development in the KKY area. The data obtained was then analyzed descriptively to obtain an objective picture of livestock production, agricultural crop waste production, and the suitability of commodity development in each district. The results of the study show that in the Yapen Islands Regency area, the portrait of livestock production is not yet optimal, marked by low livestock production figures for several commodities. The inverted pyramid of livestock population growth indicates an unhealthy acceleration of livestock production. The livestock capacity is 1139.08 ST (UT). The availability of animal feed from agricultural waste needs to be intensified. It is necessary to increase the livestock population and intensify the production of animal feed whose availability is guaranteed.

Abstract

Humans and nature cannot be separated because both have a close relationship as an ecosystem. The purpose of this study was to determine: 1) the level of social and ecological resilience; 2) Scenarios on ecological and social factors for the sustainability of protected forests. The research method uses survey methods and data analysis uses qualitative-verification analysis based on the results of the calculation of the resilience index and the phase of the socio-ecological system. The results showed that the level of social and economic resilience was partially or simultaneously at the level of resilience with their respective indexes: social: 0.6944); ecology: 0.8148 and socio-ecology 0.7460. The exploitation phase (growth) leads to the conservation phase. The results of the scene show that both of them are at a high level of resilience with a resilience index of 0.8889 (high resilience) and a reorganization phase. If this phase can be maintained with various management interventions according to its function, it will minimize the level of disturbance to the Mount Sirimau Protection Forest Group.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the social, economic and cultural characteristics of the community around the Mount Sirimau Protected Forest Group in Ambon City, Maluku Province. In this study, we use an interdisciplinary approach to understand the relationship between humans and the environment in the region. Data was collected through field surveys, interviews and literature studies. The results of the analysis show that communities around protected forests have a high dependence on natural resources provided by these forests as their main source of livelihood. They also have a rich culture, with a diversity of traditions, beliefs and cultural practices deeply rooted in their daily lives. However, this study also reveals the social and economic challenges faced by society, including limited access to public services and income inequality. The importance of community participation in protected forest management is also highlighted in this study. In conclusion, this study emphasizes the importance of a holistic approach in protected forest management, which takes into account social, economic, cultural and ecological aspects. Collaboration between government, non-government organizations and local communities is needed to formulate sustainable strategies to preserve protected forests and improve the welfare of surrounding communities.

Abstract

The objectives of this study were to determine the social aspects of resin forest product management, analyze the level of community income in managing resin forest products and determine the contribution of resin forest product income in Rambatu village, Inamosol sub-district, West Seram Regency. This study applied the survey method to collect data from a specific location, namely Rambatu village, using questionnaires and direct interviews with individuals and groups at the research site. The results of the study revealed that the community of Rambatu Village coexists with resin tree species that have become an additional source of income for the local community. By paying attention to the level of community income in managing resin forest products by striving for management without depleting the results of resin trees in Rambatu village and reviewing the contribution of income from resin forest products which is quite helpful to the community's economy, namely 30.52%, this is smaller than the side income of the community reaching 69.48%. Therefore, the management process must cooperate with related parties such as the Vocational Training Center (BLK) to seek the development of knowledge and skills in managing resin forest products properly and correctly and seek a better sales concept between resin workers and collectors so that the income of the Rambatu community increases.

Abstract

Natural disasters such as landslides and droughts pose a serious threat to communities living in the mainland of DAS Waeruhu. Therefore, through a social approach to the community, we call socialization about mitigation and adaptation to the disasters of drought and drought in this region. Some of the problems faced by the communities in the region are: (a) the topography of the district is steep, increasing the risk of droughts, especially during the rainy season; (b) forest deforestation greatly increases the risk for drought due to the loss of soil-resistant vegetation; (c) development without good planning, including building houses on steep slopes, may increase drought risk; (d) changes in irregular rain patterns can cause drought, threatening water supply for agriculture and household needs; (e) rising temperatures and global climate change can worsen drought conditions and reduce available water resources; (f) underprivileged populations may find it difficult to build disaster-resilient infrastructure or take necessary mitigation measures; (g) public awareness of risks and depletion, as well as ways to cope with these risks, can be a serious problem; (h) limited access to education can hinder the public's vital understanding of adaptation and disasters.
