Abstract

Technological advances have simplified many fairies in human life, ranging from the social, business, political, and even educational realms. One form of technology that plays an important role in facilitating and helping humans today is computers. The presence of computers has boosted the emergence of various applications that play a very important role in supporting human work such as in producing graphic design products. Graphic design works are certainly no longer a foreign entity in life, starting from the clothes worn, the packaging design of the daily food/beverages consumed, and even the logos of the electronic objects purchased are also inseparable from the touch of graphic design. That is the value and meaning of the existence of graphic design works today for humans. Graphic design, in addition to being able to support human work to open up business opportunities, can also be a medium to foster a creative and innovative attitude for anyone who has a desire for it. On that basis, the team also considers it necessary to facilitate training such as this service to encourage the emergence of creativity and innovation in students by making SMP Negeri 1 Meulaboh, West Aceh Regency, Aceh Province as the target of this service. The steps taken in this service are divided into three time sessions, namely the beginning, middle, and end. The presentation of the material was carried out by applying the concept of Think Pair Share. From the results of the thorough evaluation, the following records were obtained: (1). Students have a high interest in these kinds of activities; (2). There is a drastic increase in knowledge and ability in students after the activity is completed from before who do not know at all and have never heard of graphic design; and (3). After the presentation of the material and demonstration, students have been able to independently practice how to design a logo using the professional application Adobe Photoshop, even if they are not very skilled.

Abstract

Perangkat smartphone telah berubah menjadi kebutuhan dan gaya hidup bagi genarasi z (gen-z). Content-content yang disajikan dalam media sosial diharapkan dapat menjadi pendorong bagi dunia pendidikan dan kehidupan sosial. Namun tidak menutup kemungkinan segala hal yang dilihat dapat menjadi konsumsi yang tidak layak bahkan merusak. Masa depan gen-z hampir bergantung dengan kemajuan internet. Oleh karena itu mereka diharapkan tidak hanya menjadi pengguna dan penikmat content namun juga harus dapat menjadi seorang content creator. Melalui pengabdian ini, berupaya untuk memberikan pengetahuan mengenai pentingnya serta keuntungan menjadi seorang content creator yang menarik atau viral. Melalui kegiatan ini didapati hasil ternyata banyak gen-z dalam hal ini siswa/i MAN 1 Aceh Barat dan SMAN 2 yang pernah membuat content video namun belum maksimal. Mereka belum mendapatkan pengetahuan secara langsung (pelatihan) mengenai ide atau materi membuat content serta teknik-teknik dalam mengolah video menjadi menarik dan layak untuk diposting di media sosial.

Abstract

Podcast sudah menjadi media informasi dan komunikasi di Sekolah Tinggi Agama Islam Negeri Teungku Dirundeng Meulaboh diharapkan dapat membantu mahasiswa untuk mencari informasi mengenai dunia perkuliahan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana karakteristik Host Dirundeng Podcast dalam menerapkan gaya komunikasi dan faktor yang menjadi penghambat komunikasi Host Dirundeng Podcast. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif dengan prosedur pengumpulan data berupa observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Informan dalam penelitian ini yaitu Host Dirundeng Podcast. Hasil perolehan data dianalisis melalui tahapan reduksi data, penyajian data dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menerangkan karakteristik yang digunakan oleh Host Dirundeng Podcast meliputi empat prinsip, yaitu memberi contoh dari pengalaman diri sendiri, memiliki selera humor, selalu antusias dan selalu rendah hati dan bersahabat. Gaya komunikasi yang digunakan meliputi, the equalitarian style, dan the relinquishing style. Hambatan yang dihadapi Host Dirundeng Podcast berupa nonteknis dan teknis. Hambatan nonteknis meliputi hambatan semantik, psikologis dan prasangka, serta hambatan teknis berupa hambatan ekologis. Dengan demikian hambatan nonteknis lebih besar daripada hambatan teknis yang mana hambatan-hambatan ini berdampak pada proses siaran dan kenyamanan pendengar.

Abstract

This research examines women and media in journalistic activities. One way is to engage in journalistic activities. One way to become a citizen journalist is in the Serambi Indonesia daily. The Serambi Indonesia daily based in Banda Aceh, is a large-circulation local media that has access to citizen journalists through the Citizen Journalism column. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach. Data collection was carried out by documenting articles written by female journalists. The research results show that female journalists in the Citizen Journalism column write by involving their experiences in an event, with the construction of article writing in accordance with news elements.

Abstract

Aceh Besar is rich in mature tourist destinations that can be used as a source of creative economic growth for the community. In addition, the iconic historic tourism destination, Aceh Besar has many tourist destinations that can be branded through the use of local media. This study aims to further examine the use of local media in creating the historic tourism marketing communications in Aceh Besar. Data collection was conducted through interviews and participatory observation. The results show that the Aceh Besar Tourism and Youth Agency (DISPARPORA) does not build relationships with local media, but instead uses tourism ambassadors as spokespersons and outdoor media for each event. Meanwhile, local media brands promote tourism through articles produced as part of their support for tourism in Aceh Besar.

Abstract

The Department of Culture and Tourism has been promoted through social media and print media and by holding national and international events inviting tourists to visit Simeulue Island. The impact of the promotion carried out by the Simeulue Regency Tourism Office, Simeulue Regency tourism is already known worldwide, especially water tourism (surfing). In 2019, more than a thousand foreign tourists visited Simeulue, but since 2020, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of foreign tourists coming to Simeulue has decreased. This research aims to discover the communication strategy of the Tourism Department in Simeulue Regency in promoting local wisdom tourism and the obstacles faced by the Tourism Department in promoting local wisdom tourism destinations in Simeulue Regency. This research uses qualitative research methods with interview, observation and documentation techniques. Data analysis uses descriptive qualitative. The research shows that the communication strategy of the Tourism Office in Simeulue Regency in promoting local wisdom tourism is carried out by fostering tourist destinations owned by Simeulue Regency. Promotion is carried out through print media in the form of brochures, electronic television media broadcast on TV Aceh, festivals, events and expos, and social media by showing videos of tourist destinations via the YouTube channel. The obstacles faced by the Tourism Office in promoting local wisdom tourism destinations in Simeulue Regency are lack of budget for promotion, lack of understanding of human resources regarding developing tourism potential, lack of network and disruption of internet and electricity networks.

Abstract

Islamic communication values are not only be obtained from daily interactions between communicators and communicant, but also from screen media, such as web series. The web series entitle Bidadari Bermata Bening is an Islamic novel that contains the values of qaulan sadida (telling the truth) in everyday life. This research aims to look at the values of qaulan sadida in the Bidadari Bermata Bening web series as part of Islamic communication. This research uses a qualitative analysis technique. Data search was carried out using a web series documentation technique of ten episodes. The results of this research show that qaulan sadida in this web series is applied in the Islamic boarding school educational environment, relationships between characters, friendship, business practices, and the personality of the main character in the story.

Abstract

This community service program aims to improve students’ writing literacy and verbal communication skills through short story writing mentorship at SMPN 3 Meurebo. The initiative was motivated by the low level of interest and creative writing ability among students, which limits their capacity to express ideas and imagination in written form. Activities were conducted face-to-face using a participatory approach and the fun learning method to create enjoyable, collaborative, and reflective learning experiences. The program was implemented in three stages: preparation, mentoring, and evaluation. Evaluation was carried out using pre-test and post-test assessments to measure participants’ progress. The results showed a significant improvement in students’ writing competence, with the average score increasing from 41% to 83%. The most notable improvement occurred in the understanding of intrinsic and extrinsic story elements, demonstrating the effectiveness of the mentoring model in strengthening conceptual comprehension and practical writing skills. The program also had a positive impact on students’ motivation, self-confidence, and creativity in writing. Overall, this activity successfully fostered literacy enthusiasm and supported the development of a creative learning ecosystem. The outcomes are expected to serve as a replicable model for writing literacy programs in other schools, particularly in regions with similar challenges in promoting a literacy culture.
