Abstract

Introduction: Every month's regular menstrual cycle should ideally span 21-35 days.  The menstrual cycle is influenced by several factors, namely stress levels and sleep quality. Menstrual cycle disorders indicate metabolic and endocrine system irregularities. The impact that often occurs due to menstrual cycle disorders is infertility and difficulty identifying the fertile period. The purpose of the study was to determine the relationship between stress levels and sleep quality with the menstrual cycle in seventh-semester nursing students at Universitas Muhammadiyah Lamongan. Methods: This research design uses correlation analytics with a cross-sectional approach using a simple random sampling technique with a sample of 111 respondents. Measured using the Depression Anxiety Stress Scale questionnaire sheet for stress levels and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index questionnaire for sleep quality. After tabulating the data and analyzing it using the Spearmen Rank test. Results: This study showed that almost half of the 43 female students (38.7%) experienced mild stress and more than half of the 60 female students (54.1%) had poor sleep quality.  Conclusions: Based on the results of the analysis using the Spearmen rank test, the value of p = 0.000, where p <0.05 means that there is a relationship between stress levels and sleep quality with the menstrual cycle in nursing students in semester VII of Universitas Muhammadiyah Lamongan. Based on this research, it is expected that female students can reduce stress, get enough sleep 7-8 hours, diet, and control weight so that the menstrual cycle returns to normal.

Abstract

Risky premarital sexual behavior has become a growing concern for both the public and governmental institutions. Such behavior is associated with various negative outcomes, including the transmission of sexually transmitted infections (STIs), teenage pregnancy, and other health-related consequences. This study aims to analyze the effect of Smart Youth Empowerment Program on adolescents’ knowledge and attitudes toward risky premarital sexual behavior at Bojonegoro Regency. A pre-experimental design employing a one-group pre-test and post-test approach was used. The study population comprised 253 students, from which 80 respondents were selected using simple random sampling with an additional 10% adjustment. Data were collected using a questionnaire that assessed participants' knowledge and attitudes toward risky premarital sexual behavior. The data were tabulated and analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test with a significance level of p < 0.05. The findings revealed that prior to the intervention, a majority of students (78.8%) had low levels of knowledge, and nearly two-thirds (67.5%) demonstrated negative attitudes. Post-intervention, 92.5% of students displayed high knowledge levels, and all participants (100.0%) exhibited positive attitudes. The Wilcoxon test showed a significant result (p = 0.000), indicating that the intervention significantly influenced students’ knowledge and attitudes regarding risky premarital sexual behavior. Thus, Smart Youth Empowerment Program serves as a promising strategy for improving adolescent awareness and promoting healthier attitudes in the context of sexual health education.

Abstract

Anxiety during pregnancy is a common psychological condition, especially among high-risk pregnant women. Excessive anxiety may negatively impact both maternal and fetal health. This study aimed to examine the relationship between maternal age, parity, and social support with anxiety levels in high-risk pregnant women at RS Arsy Paciran. A correlational analytic study with a cross-sectional approach was conducted on 35 respondents selected using consecutive sampling. Anxiety levels were measured using the DASS-42 questionnaire, and social support was assessed using the Maternity Social Support Scale (MSSS). Data were analyzed using the Spearman Rank correlation test. The results revealed that maternal age (p=0.022), parity (p=0.009), and social support (p=0.001) had significant correlations with anxiety levels. Women who were younger or older than the ideal reproductive age range, had higher parity, or received low levels of social support experienced greater anxiety. Among the three variables, social support showed the strongest negative correlation with anxiety (rs = -0.615). This study concludes that maternal age, parity, and social support are dominant factors influencing anxiety in high-risk pregnancies. Healthcare professionals are encouraged to provide targeted education and consistent support to pregnant women, particularly those identified as high risk, to promote mental well-being during pregnancy.
