Abstract

Therapeutic communication is a communication effort aimed at healing the patient. However, for mentally retarded children, therapeutic communication functions to foster independence. Mentally retarded children are children with special needs who have limitations in their intelligence and social functions. This research aims to find out how interpersonal and therapeutic communication patterns occur in the process of forming the independence of mentally retarded children. The research method used is descriptive research. Where data collection techniques use observation, interviews and documentation. Meanwhile, the data analysis technique uses triangulation analysis method. From the research that has been conducted, it is known that Panti PSDI Raharjo has implemented therapeutic communication through interpersonal communication to foster the independence of mentally retarded children. Regarding interpersonal communication patterns, supervisors use a constructivist approach. This approach helps children to support the exploration of children's abilities and development. Meanwhile, in therapeutic communication, supervisors use two types of communication, namely verbal and non-verbal. This makes communication more effective and maximal in fostering independence. From the explanation of the research results above, it can be concluded that the pattern of interpersonal communication that occurs at the PSDI Raharjo Home goes well, thus encouraging the success of therapeutic communication carried out by the supervisors, although in its implementation there are still several obstacles, but the supervisors are able to overcome these obstacles well, so that the process develop children's independence smoothly.

Abstract

Abstrak : Balai Latihan Kerja (BLK) Surakarta mempunyai tugas dan fungsi meningkatkan kompetensi keahlian melalui pelatihan dan sertifikasi, uji kompetensi bagi tenaga kerja, serta meningkatkan Kerjasama dengan industri dan dunia usaha untuk penyesuaian kualitas pelatihan serta penempatan lulusan. Melalui koordinasi awal diperoleh informasi bahwa siswa peserta didik di BLK Surakarta selama ini lebih fokus pada keahlian yang diajarkan sesuai jurusan yang ditempuh, padahal untuk persiapan masuk ke dunia kerja diperlukan softskill tambahan, salah satunya adalah public speaking. Berdasarkan hal tersebut, tim pengabdian kepada masyarakat Universitas Surakarta memberikan penyuluhan dan pelatihan public speaking dengan metode story telling bagi siswa Jurusan Bisnis & Manajemen BLK Surakarta dengan harapan para siswa dapat meningkatkan keterampilannya dalam presentasi efektif maupun kepercayaan diri untuk berani berbicara di depan umum. Dengan berbekal softskilll tersebut, diharapkan para siswa Jurusan Bisnis & Manajemen BLK Surakarta benar-benar siap menghadapi dunia kerja yang sesungguhnya. Metode yang digunakan pada kegiatan ini adalah ceramah, diskusi dan stry telling. Ceramah ini dilakukan dengan pemaparan materi oleh tim pengabdian kepada masyarakat Universitas Surakarta. Diskusi dilakukan berbarengan dengan pemaparan materi dengan model tanya jawab oleh peserta maupun tim pengabdian. Sedangkan pelaksanaan praktekpublic speaking menggunakan metode story telling. Materi kegiatan ini meliputi tentang kecakapan presentasi efektif, public speaking dan how to spek to inform. Memberikan pemahaman dan pelatihan bagaimana seharusnya melakukan presentasi efektif dan public speaking. Kata kunci: public speaking, presentasi efektif, story telling ABSTRACT: The Surakarta Vocational Training Center (BLK) has the task and function of increasing skill competency through training and certification, competency testing for the workforce, as well as increasing cooperation with industry and the business world to adjust the quality of training and placement of graduates. Through initial coordination, information was obtained that students at BLK Surakarta have been more focused on the skills taught according to the majors taken, even though in preparation for entering the world of work additional soft skills are needed, one of which is public speaking. Based on this, the community service team at the University of Surakarta provided public speaking counseling and training with the story telling method for students of the Surakarta BLK Business & Management Department with the hope that the students could improve their skills in effective presentations as well as the confidence to dare to speak in public. Armed with these soft skills, it is hoped that the students of the Business & Management Department of BLK Surakarta are truly ready to face the real world of work. The methods used in this activity are lectures, discussions and stry telling. This lecture was carried out with material presentation by the community service team at the University of Surakarta. The discussion was carried out simultaneously with the presentation of the material with a question and answer model by the participants and the service team. While the implementation of public speaking practice uses the story telling method. The material for this activity includes effective presentation skills, public speaking and how to spec to inform. Abstract

Abstrak: Kelurahan Gedangan berada di Kecamatan Grogol Kabupaten Sukoharjo dan dipimpin oleh Bapak Lurah Srinoto, SP. Kelurahan Gedangan ikut serta berpartisipasi dalam Pembangunan Indonesia dengan memberdayakan wanita dalam suatu organasisasi kemasyarakatan yaitu Pembinaan Kesejahteraan Keluarga (PKK) yang dipimpin oleh Ibu Lurah Sri Rokhimah. Pengurus PKK Kelurahan Gedangan terdiri dari Kader Pengurus PKK tingkat RT, yang sebagian besar merupakan ibu-ibu muda berprofesi sebagai ibu rumah tangga. Pada waktu pertama melakukan koordinasi untuk menggali informasi tentang kegiatan rutin PKK Kelurahan Gedanagan dan kesejahteraan para kader PKK, diperoleh keterangan bahwa sebagian besar kader mengandalkan gaji suami dalam memenuhi keperluan hidup sehari-hari. Pada jaman sekarang ini, kebutuhan keluarga untuk biaya makan, pendidikan, kesehatan, sosial kemasyarakatan dan lainnya sangatlah besar. Guna menigkatkan kesejahteraan keluarga, tidak ada salahnya apabila para ibu kader ini membantu memberikan tambahan penghasilan. Pada waktu koordinasi juga diperoleh informasi bahwa para ibu muda banyak yang mempunyai akun sosial media seperti Whatsapp, facebook, Instagram sebagai media bersilaturahmi online. Berdasarkan kondisi seperti itu, tim pengabdian kepada Masyarakat Universitas Surakarta tergerak hatinya untuk membantu memberikan penyuluhan dan pelatihan memanfaatkan teknologi informasi sebagai media promosi online yang sederhana mengingat para kader juga memiliki akun sosial media. Kegiatan pengabdian dilaksanakan dengan metode ceramah, disertai tanya jawab peserta dan pelatihan membuat promosi melalui Whatsapp, facebook, Instagram yang paling popular bagi para kader. Hasil pengabdian ini, dapat menambah wawasan para kader dalam memanfaatkan platform Whatsapp, facebook, Instagram untuk melakukan promosi dan beberapa kader sudah mewujudkan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari sehingga dapat meningkatkan kesejahteraan keluarga. Kata Kunci: teknologi informasi, kesejahteraan, Kelurahan Gedangan Abstract : Gedangan Village is in Grogol District, Sukoharjo Regency and is led by Lurah Srinoto, SP. Gedangan Village participates in Indonesian Development by empowering women in a community organization, namely Family Welfare Development (PKK) led by Village Head Sri Rokhimah. The Gedangan Village PKK management consists of RT level PKK management cadres, most of whom are young mothers who work as housewives. At the first time of coordinating to dig up information about the routine activities of the Gedanagan Village PKK and the welfare of PKK cadres, information was obtained that most of the cadres relied on their husband's salary to meet their daily living needs. In this day and age, family needs for food, education, health, social and other expenses are very large. In order to improve family welfare, there is nothing wrong if these cadre mothers help provide additional income. During the coordination, information was also obtained that many young mothers had social media accounts such as Whatsapp, Facebook, Instagram as a medium for online communication. Based on such conditions, the University of Surakarta Community Service team was moved to help provide counseling and training using information technology as a simple online promotional medium considering that the cadres also have social media accounts. Service activities are carried out using the lecture method, accompanied by questions and answers from participants and training in making promotions via Whatsapp, Facebook, Instagram which are the most popular for cadres. The results of this service can broaden the cadres' insight in utilizing the Whatsapp, Facebook, Instagram platforms to carry out promotions and several cadres have implemented this in their daily lives so that they can improve family welfare. Abstract

This study discusses the interpretation of semiotic theory in an advertisement, specifically focusing on IKEA's "Second Best" advertisement on YouTube Ads. This study aims to explore meanings beyond the product promotion intended by IKEA, examining the deeper message conveyed through the audio-visual presentation. The method used is descriptive qualitative. In this qualitative method, the author acts as the primary instrument in research, with analysis conducted continuously from the initial stages through data analysis. Semiotic analysis is the science of signs, especially from the perspective of Roland Barthes, who developed a two-tiered marking system he terms denotation and connotation. These systems can be applied to identify and understand the symbols and meanings presented in the IKEA advertisement ("Second Best"). The study results indicate a common theme, namely that IKEA seeks to offer convenience and solutions to families for their household needs, particularly through its home goods

Abstract

Pengabdian kepada masyarakat di “Karang Taruna/Sinoman Taruna Jati” bertujuan untuk memberikan pengetahuan dan wawasan tentang bela negara kepada pengurus dan anggotanya, agar mereka lebih memahami peran mereka sebagai generasi milenial. Kegiatan ini mencakup penyuluhan mengenai tantangan yang dihadapi bangsa, serta peran yang dapat dilakukan oleh anggota dalam upaya bela negara. Pengabdian ini menggunakan metode presentasi dan tanya jawab tentang generasi milenial dan bela negara. Penyuluhan tentang Peran Generasi Milenial Sebagai Kader Bela Negara mempunyai maksud untuk memberikan wacana pentingnya generasi muda mempersiapkan diri dalam menghadapi tantangan pada era industri 4.0 menuju era 5.0 serta bonus demografi yang akan dialami oleh Indonesia pada tahun 2045 di rumah salah satu warga di RT. 03, RW. 17 Desa Sajen, Kecamatan Trucuk, Kabupaten Klaten berjalan dengan lancar.

Abstract

This study investigates the influence of digital empathy, online identity formation, fear of missing out (FoMO), and social media fatigue on the mental health of adolescents in West Java, Indonesia. Using a quantitative research design, data were collected from 175 adolescent respondents through a Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS 3.0). The results reveal that digital empathy and online identity formation have a positive and significant effect on adolescents’ mental health, indicating that empathetic online behavior and authentic self-expression contribute to psychological well-being. Conversely, FoMO and social media fatigue demonstrate negative and significant effects, suggesting that excessive social comparison and emotional exhaustion reduce mental wellness. Moreover, social media fatigue mediates the relationship between FoMO and mental health, showing that digital overload acts as a psychological strain linking fear of exclusion to reduced well-being. The model explains 57% of the variance in mental health, indicating strong predictive power. These findings highlight the importance of cultivating digital empathy, promoting balanced online identity management, and implementing interventions to minimize FoMO and fatigue among youth. The study contributes to both theoretical understanding and practical strategies for enhancing adolescent digital well-being in the context of rapid social media engagement.

Abstract

Abstrak:Orang Muda Katolik (OMK) adalah paguyuban pemuda dan pemudi Katolik. OMK menjadi salah satu wadah bagi muda mudi katolik untuk belajar berorganisasi. Tahun 2021 terjadi pergantian kepengurusan baru setelah OMK Bonifasius mengalami kemandegan. Pengurus baru yang terbentuk merupakan anggota baru yang belum memiliki banyak pengalaman dan ketrampilan. Setelah analisa dari para anggota, ketrampilan yang paling mendesak untuk mendapat pembekalan adalah ketrampilan public speaking dan kepemimpinan. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan ketrampilan dan kepercayaan diri anggota OMK dalam berbicara di depan umum. Dengan adanya permasalahan ini maka pengurus bekerjasama dengan Tim Pengabdian Masyarakat dari Universitas Surakarta untuk memberikan pelatihan. Harapannya, sebagai generasi muda yang penuh harapan mereka memiliki ketrampilan yang baik di dalam berbicara di depan umum, sehingga ketika mereka berada baik di gereja, sekolah, lingkungan kampus, lingkungan tempat bekerja maupun di masyarakat mampu dan percaya diri untuk berbicara. Metode yang digunakan adalah dengan ceramah, diskusi, dan latihan story telling. Ceramah dilakukan dengan pemaparan materi dari para narasumber dengan presentasi sebagai media penyampaiannya. Sedangan story telling dilakukan dengan praktek dari para pengurus dengan menceritakan pengalaman mereka atau berbicara tentang suatu tema tertentu di hadapan pada peserta. Materi yang diberikan berkaitan dengan pemahaman public speaking, jenis public speaking, serta teknik presentasi yang efektif. Dari kegiatan ini anggota OMK berani untuk bercerita di hadapan teman-temannya dan beberapa dari mereka bahkan mampu menceritakan materi dengan baik dan terkonsep setelah mendengarkan materi yang sudah diberikan sebelumnya.

Abstract

DIDU has become a new phenomenon among entrepreneurs, both small and large. One of them is the MSME world, which has evolved into a long-term program aimed at enhancing human resources and socio-economic conditions. Through the dynamics and development of technology, mass media have become an essential tool that meets primary needs, allowing the community to utilise them according to their needs and benefits. Therefore, literacy and optimisation are necessary for its effective operationalisation. This is important to convey through semi-formal activities from the academy to the community, as practitioners, by collaborating in the Ngringo Village MSME Expo event. With the aim of providing enrichment and updated and upgraded insights to optimise the use of social media as a business tool. Using a qualitative approach with surveys, observations, and face-to-face interviews, and ending with group discussions with business actors. Getting a discussion of the needs of academics and practitioners in improving business needs and producing interactive and innovative responses and discussions, one of which is providing a level of protection to prevent cases of fraud online. The advantages and disadvantages of organising Expo events are continually being improved to ensure consistency in building businesses on an MSME scale.
