Abstract

Indonesia is a developing country that has very complex environmental health problems, especially in big cities. Poor sanitation is believed to be the main cause in 280.000 deaths. Giwangan Market as a public place visited by many people has the potential as a place for disease transmission. This study aims to determine the knowledge, attitudes of traders in the Giwangan market about sanitation, because sanitation contributes to the realization of environmental health quality. This research is a quantitative research with cross sectional design. The sample in this study was the Yogyakarta Giwangan market traders, amounting to 102 respondents. The sample size is calculated using the Slovin formula. Random sampling with simple random sampling technique. Research instruments in the form of questionnaires and checklist sheets.Data analysis using univariate and bivariate analysis with chi square test. The results showed 78 people (76.5%) good sanitation traders,76 people (74.5%) good attitude, and 64 people (62.7%) had good perceptions about environmental health quality. The bivariate analysis showed that there was a relationship between knowledge (p = 0.002 ≤ 0.05) and attitudes about sanitation (p = 0.006 ≤ 0.05) and the perception of the quality of environmental health in the Giwangan Market. There is a relationship between traders' knowledge and attitudes about sanitation and the quality of environmental health in the Giwangan market. Suggestions for traders to increase awareness in maintaining the health of the market environment while for market managers there is a need for maintenance of facilities and increase availability of sanitation facilities in the market.

Abstract

Environmental health is one of the determinants factors toward the public health status. Transmission of tuberculosis (TB) is influenced by environmental factors. Based on previous TB data in local study, it shows that urban areas (urban) have a high case rate. Therefore, this study aims to reveal the disparity of urban TB sufferers, especially in the city of Yogyakarta based on indicators of the physical environment of the house from the coverage of healthy households. The method of study used is quantitative descriptive analysis of secondary data. The data used were the physical environment of the house which is obtained from healthy housing data and TB prevalence data in Yogyakarta City. The secondary data spread over 18 Public Health Centers in Yogyakarta City. The data collected include healthy housing data and BTA (+) cases data in the study scope using total sampling technique. Based on the trend analysis, it was found that there was a significant trend in data. The higher percentage of non-healthy housing coverage wasassociated in line with the higher the TB prevalence rate. It can be concluded that the physical environment factor of the house as an indicator of a healthy housing is closely related to the incidence of TB in Yogyakarta City. Environmental quality studies need to be carried out for comprehensive TB disease control towards elimination (End TB 2030) which is in line with national programs and SDGs goals.

Abstract

Raja Ampat (Southwest Papua Province) and Kepulauan Seribu (Jakarta Raya Province) are part of Indonesia#39;s territory, which includes the mangrove forest area. This habitat supports a diverse array of animals, plants, and microalgae, including Aurantiochytrium sp. It has antioxidant activity related to lipid content. This study aims to identify the lipid content and the antioxidant effects of the microalgae Aurantiochytrium sp.’s extract isolated from the mangrove forest areas of Raja Ampat and Kepulauan Seribu. The extraction process was conducted using the Folch method, which involves a 2:1 (v/v) chloroform-methanol solvent ratio. The microalgae Aurantiochytrium sp. extract of Raja Ampat (MAERA) and microalgae Aurantiochytrium sp. extract of Kepulauan Seribu (MAEKS) were analyzed using GC-MS, antioxidant potential tested in silico by target proteins (5ZLG, 2A1X, 3VLN, and 1EEM) using Autodock Tools, and in vitro by DPPH and ABTS radicals and the carotenoid bleaching method. The results showed that total squalene and fatty acids in MAERA and MAEKS were at different levels. Squalene as a ligand had the lowest binding energy (-9.4, -6.6, -7.7, and -6.5) compared to the native ligand (-5.6, -4.4, -5.2, and -5.2) and ascorbic acid (-5.6, -4.8, -5.3, and -4.9) by in silico antioxidant activity. The in vitro antioxidant activities by DPPH, ABTS, and ß-caroteen bleaching were 103.00 ± 3.75, 216.39 ± 367, 214.62 ± 7,07 (MAERA); and 131.85 ± 23.48, 225.50 ± 3.36, 251.69 ± 5.39 (MAEKS) were not significantly different (pgt;0.05) by all methods. These findings showed that the Aurantiochytrium sp. strains Raja Ampat and Kepulauan Seribu contained diverse levels of fatty acids and squalene. In the in silico study, squalene was evaluated and in vitro, the MAERA and MAEKS extracts showed moderate antioxidant activity.
