Abstract

The bridge is one of the most important means of transportation for humans. The bridge also serves as a link between one area and another. Seeing the importance of the function of a bridge, the construction of a bridge must meet various existing standards. One of the requirements that must be met in making a bridge is the resilience of the bridge in accept the load of both humans and vehicles that cross the bridge and the static equilibrium conditions on the bridge. The construction of a Truss bridge is usually carried out at the place where the bridge will stand. But now the construction of the bridge can be done outside that location, to then be shifted to the actual location. And, that's not only for short bridges, but also for long bridges. But sometimes a condition does not allow conventional bridge construction, while on the other hand the construction of the bridge is something very important. For that we need an innovation, an alternative method so that the construction of the Truss bridge can be carried out. The 100 meter span Australian Truss bridge was assembled above the maintenance bridge at the Batang Arau flood control structure and then shifted downstream to the new bridge location which is 10 meters away. Before the shifting was carried out, rails were prepared as the shifting path and two bridgeheads as the placement of the Truss bridge on the left and right of the Batang Arau river. Currently the Ujung Tanah II Truss bridge has been functioning for 30 years with good maintenance.

Abstract

Climate change presents its own challenges for traditional fishermen in coastal areas of West Sumatra. Fluctuations in environmental conditions and extreme weather affect their catch and income. This study aims to describe the adaptation strategies undertaken by traditional fishermen in the face of climate change impacts. Qualitative research was conducted through in-depth interviews with 15 fishermen in the coastal tourist areas of Carocok, Mandeh, and Sasak. The results showed that most fishermen implement strategies to diversify sources of income, either by expanding fishing areas, fish farming, or seasonal work outside the city in the construction or service sectors. Another strategy implemented is to suppress household consumption patterns by adjusting the type and quantity of food based on fluctuations in income from fishing. Fishermen also take advantage of strong social and familial relationships within the community to help each other overcome economic difficulties. Despite implementing various adaptation strategies, most fishermen still rely heavily on marine resources. Sustainable adaptation planning is needed by considering social, economic, cultural, and gender roles to maintain the sustainability of traditional fishing livelihoods in coastal areas of West Sumatera. Key words: Fishermen. Adaption strategies, and Climate change

Abstract

Abstract: Market and terminal are two places that can both be described as something crowded, noisy, complicated, and prone to crime. However, behind this general condition, it turns out that markets and terminals are inseparable symbiosis in the economy of cities and regions. If this symbiosis is separated, inevitably, the terminal will not develop. This is the case with several inter-provincial (AKDP) and inter-provincial (AKAP) public transportation terminals. This paper explains the relationship between the two as a socio-economic symbiosis, a Minangkabau local wisdom, and the following phenomena. It can be concluded that (a). reflecting on the planning and development of traditional markets in West Sumatra, especially the nagari market; the nagari market is crowded because one is always next to the terminal (b). local wisdom between the market and the terminal is like water and fish. Fish cannot live without water. But a terminal without a market around it is like a fish without water. This is the case in nine of the ten AKDP and AKAP terminals in West Sumatra (c). terminal construction is always located in the district's capital city, except for the Kiliran Jao terminal (Sijunjung Regency), which does not consider the location's economic, pathological, and sociological aspects. However, each development is always accompanied by a feasibility study per the Ministry of Transportation requirements.
