Abstract

Abstract

Subjective well-being is an essential part of mental health in both religious and non-religious communities. On a global scale, most research on the relationship between religiosity and subjective well-being is conducted on English-speaking, Western, and Christian populations. This large-scale study is expected to complement and balance previous research by reporting the important role of resilience as a mediator in the relationship between religiosity, social support, and self-efficacy on subjective well-being based on a sample of Indonesians, the world's largest Muslim population. Data collection uses adaptation of standardized scales, namely the Positive Affect Negative Affect Schedule (PANAS) and Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS) for measurement of Subjective well-being, Resilience Evaluation Scale (RES) for resiliency, The Centrality of Religiosity Scale (CRS) for religiosity, The Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS) for social support, and the General Self-efficacy scale (GSES) for self-efficacy. A convenience sample of 1640 Muslim undergraduate students made up the responses. This study's findings suggest that self-efficacy, social support, and religiosity all directly influence resilience. Subjective well-being is directly affected by religion, social support, self-efficacy, and resilience. The association between self-efficacy, social support, self-religion, and subjective well-being is mediated by resilience. Resilience partially mediates the relationship between religiosity, social support, and self-efficacy with subjective well-being. This research has practical implications for the practice of Islamic guidance and counseling, notably the use of religion as a tool to build resilience, for instance, through a more positive reading of difficulties as God's gift for personal growth.

Abstract

Children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) have non-adaptive behavioral problems related to social maturity, which impact their future lives as adults, thus necessitating access to appropriate treatment. This experimental study aims to examine the effect of executive function therapy on improving social maturity in children with ADHD. It adopts a comprehensive approach, employing a one-group pretest-posttest design on 20 children with ADHD. The social maturity scores of the children in the initial examination ranged from 32 to 86, measured using the Vineland Social Maturity Scale (VSMS), and then analyzed by one-way repeated measures ANOVA using SPSS. The results show an improvement after executive function therapy (Phase III/Post-test, M = 75.90; Phase II, M = 64.00; Phase I, M = 64.30; Pre-test, M = 61.35), thus indicating a significant influence of the therapy on the improvement of the social maturity of children with ADHD, F(3; 16) = 73.9; p < .001, η_p2 = .795 showed moderate level of therapy effectiveness. This study suggested that executive function therapy is effective in improving social maturity in children with ADHD.

Abstract

Memorizing the Qur’an is a spiritual endeavor that is noble yet filled with significant challenges. Many Qur’an memorizers face various obstacles throughout this journey. This study investigates the role of social support in fostering resilience among Qur'an memorizers who simultaneously fulfill dual roles as students. Conducted with 180 santri from five pondok pesantren in Central Java, aged 15-19, the study adopts a non-experimental quantitative design. Findings indicate that emotional support (β=0.306, p < 0.01) and informational support (β=0.237, p < 0.01) significantly predict resilience, while instrumental support does not (β=0.154, p > 0.05). Adding companionship increased the explained variance of resilience to 42.7% (R²=0.427, F(1,175) = 9.730, p < 0.001). These findings underscoring the importance of peer support, guidance from kyai (religious mentors), and a supportive environment in sustaining the challenging process of Qur’an memorization. This study implies that for Qur'an memorizers, resilience is strengthened by companionship, guidance, and emotional support, which collectively enable them to navigate the spiritual and academic challenges of their journey.

Abstract

Online victimization is harmful actions directed at individuals or institutions through digital technology. This study aims to develop, validate, and examine the psychometric properties of the Online Victimization Scale (OVS). The researchers constructed and adapted several items from the Online Victimization Scale (OVS) by Tynes et al. (2014) and the Perceived Online Racism Scale (PORS) by Keum (2021), resulting in 54 items that were translated into Indonesian. A quantitative research method was employed using an accidental sampling technique. Data were collected from 204 individuals aged 14-23 years who were active social media users. Data analysis was conducted using Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA)to evaluate the factor structure. Score reliability was assessed by calculating composite omega and stratified alpha values using the lavaan package in R. The results indicated high inter-factor correlations, prompting a second-order factor analysis. The first-order and second-order models demonstrated good model fit indices with no significant differences, resulting in a final scale of 16 items. Measurement invariance testing using multi-group CFA confirmed that the scale met the criteria for scalar invariance, as indicated by minimal changes in ΔCFI and ΔTLI (<0.01). These findings validate the equivalence of the factor structure, factor loadings, and item intercepts between male and female participants, ensuring that score differences reflect actual differences in the online victimization construct rather than measurement bias.
