Abstract

The provision of quality nursing services is determined by the performance of nurses in providing nursing care. The delivery of nursing care has hazards, one of which is ergonomic hazards. Good knowledge of ergonomic principles is essential for nurses therefore nurses have self-awareness, can improve work behavior, and avoid the negative impacts of ergonomic hazards, namely musculoskeletal diseases. This community service activity was carried out on nurses in the intensive care unit at a hospital in Pekanbaru City, which began with a pre-test, education, and post-test. Education was carried out using media as an Education Module consisting of working in a neutral/non-awkward position and posture, reducing excessive loads, reducing excessive repetitive movements, minimizing static positions, minimizing pressure at certain points, and stretching at work. The evaluation results showed an increase in nurses' knowledge after being given education. This activity is known to be effective as an initial solution in improving nurses' understanding of ergonomic principles in providing nursing care which is still lack. It is expected that this educational activity can be carried out on nurses in other clinical settings with more varied methods and media and reinforced with reminders.

Abstract

Stunting remains a public health issue in Indonesia, with an estimated 27.7% of children under five years old experiencing stunting. The role of parents and family is very important in meeting the needs of children and providing them with good growth and development, so that children can live well. A positive family coping approach is very important. Without effective family coping mechanisms, the family's functions cannot be adequately achieved. Desa Air Jernih is a Stunting Locus Village in 2024. The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between family coping mechanisms and the incidence of stunting in toddlers, using a total population technique involving 89 families with toddlers and employing three types of questionnaires: a respondent characteristic questionnaire, a toddler height measurement, and a parental coping mechanism questionnaire using the F-COPES instrument. Based on statistical testing using the chi-square method, a p-value of 0.282 was obtained, indicating that there is no relationship between family coping mechanisms and the incidence of stunting.

Abstract

The increase in the elderly population certainly raises various problems because the elderly experience various physical, mental, social and health changes. The aging process makes it difficult for the elderly to carry out Activity Daily Life (ADL) independently and become dependent on others. Limitations in performing ADLs, degenerative diseases, physical disability, pain, decreased cognitive function, sleep disturbances, social isolation, and life satisfaction can affect the quality of life of the elderly. Many elderly people find it difficult to adapt to the aging process, feel alone, frustrated, depressed and lose confidence, which affects their quality of life. The aging process causes various changes in humans including biological changes, psychological changes, social changes and spiritual changes. When the elderly try to adapt to the aging process they experience, not a few feel lonely, angry, depressed, and lose self-confidence. Reminiscence provides an adaptive function in the elderly and is positively correlated with successful adaptation through increased self-esteem, reaffirmation of a sense of identity, and mastery of their shortcomings in old age.
