Abstract

The cucumber plant (Cucumis sativus L.) is a vegetable plant that can be consumed in fresh or processed form. Cucumber production data from 2019-2022 continues to decline. One of the factors causing the decline in cucumber production is cultivation techniques that have not been carried out properly. To increase cucumber production, it is necessary to pay attention to the availability of nutrients. The fertilizer used is SP 36 fertilizer and organic fertilizer. The aim of the research is: To determine the interaction of SP36 fertilizer and manure on the growth and production of the best cucumber plants. The research was carried out in July - August 2023. The design used was a factorial Randomized Block Design (RAK). First factor: SP-36 fertilizer dose consisting of; P1: Control, P2: 150 kg ha-1 equivalent to 60 gpetak-1, P3: 250 kg ha-1 equivalent to 100 gpetak-1, Factor II: manure consisting of: N1: Control, N2: Cow manure 10 tonha-1 is equivalent to 4 kgpetak-1, N3: 10 tonha-1 chicken manure is equivalent to 4 kgpetak-1, Based on the results obtained: The interaction of SP-36 fertilizer and manure has a very real influence on the number of leaves, fruit length, plant height, fruit diameter and fruit weight Keywords: Production, Cucumis sativus L, SP-36, Cow manure

Abstract

The utilization of medicinal plants in Indonesia is still limited due to the lack of community knowledge on sustainable management and utilization, as well as low awareness of the economic valuation of medicinal plants. The purpose of this community service activity is to improve public understanding of the sustainable management and utilization of medicinal plants and provide insights into their economic valuation. The methods used in this service are counseling, training, and consultation with the community, using a participatory approach. The results obtained show an increase in participants' knowledge of medicinal plants, as well as a more positive attitude toward sustainable plant management. Furthermore, participants' skills in utilizing medicinal plants and calculating their economic valuation have also improved. In conclusion, the conducted counseling and training can enhance knowledge, skills, and public awareness, which in turn can support more sustainable and economically valuable medicinal plant management.

Abstract

This community service activity was carried out in Mata Air Village on July 19, 2025, with the aim of empowering household economies through two main approaches: basic financial literacy education and training in the production of environmentally friendly organic Plant Growth Regulators (PGR). The program was initiated in response to the low level of financial literacy among villagers and the underutilization of local resources to support sustainable agriculture. The method involved needs assessment, contextual material design, implementation through interactive lectures and hands-on practice, and participatory evaluation. The results showed that participants gained new insights into managing household finances and were able to independently produce organic PGR using local materials. Moreover, the activity sparked community initiatives to develop follow-up training and explore micro-business opportunities. This program demonstrates that a simple, practical, and contextual educational approach can have a positive impact on improving both economic capacity and environmental awareness in rural communities

Abstract

This community service activity aimed to empower residents of Manulai II Sub-district, Kupang City, East Nusa Tenggara, through the utilization of Community Economic Empowerment Funds (PEM) and home yard land for the cultivation of horticultural and medicinal plants, combined with entrepreneurship education for adults. The main problems addressed were the low utilization of yard land and PEM funds for productive purposes, as well as the lack of entrepreneurial knowledge among the community. The implementation methods included community education through counseling sessions, technical training, cultivation demonstrations, and entrepreneurship mentoring. A total of 25 adult participants took part in a series of training and hands-on practices. Evaluation results through pre-test and post-test instruments showed significant improvement in participants’ knowledge and skills in both cultivation and entrepreneurship aspects. Additionally, participants demonstrated initiative in developing small-scale home-based businesses. The conclusion of this activity is that an integrative approach involving PEM fund utilization, yard optimization, and entrepreneurship education has proven effective in enhancing the local community’s economic capacity. This model has the potential to be replicated in other areas with similar social conditions and local resources

Abstract

Tomatoes (Lycopersicum esculentum, Mill) are classified as fruit vegetables that contain a lot of water, store a lot of seeds, contain vitamins A and C, and a little vitamin B. To ensure the availability of tomato production, improvements are needed, including pruning and liquid organic fertilizers. The study aimed to determine the effect of pruning and GDM POC on the growth and production of tomato plants. The design used was a factorial RAK pattern consisting of factor I: pruning the main shoot; P0: No pruning (control) P1: pruning the main shoot; Factor II: GDM POC; G0: Control (GDM Fertilizer); G1: concentration of 2 ml/liter of water/plot; G2: Concentration of 4 ml/liter of water/plot; G3: Concentration of 6 ml/liter of water/plot. The study's results showed that pruning the main branches and giving GDM POC concentration to tomatoes significantly affected the yield of tomato plants. The P1G3 treatment produced the best growth and yield of tomato plants. The interaction between pruning of the main branches and giving of 6 ml plot-1 concentration resulted in an average plant height of 98 cm, number of leaves 131 strands, flowering age 32 HST, number of fruits 2 plants-1, and fruit weight 21.83 g. The conclusion is that pruning and GDM POC influence the growth and production of tomato plants.
