Abstract

Abstract

The preliminary research had been conducted to gather information on nutritive values of various plants such as kayu jawa (Lannea coramandelica), mengkudu (Morinda citrifolia), and kelor (Moringa oleifera) to be used as alternative feeds for ruminant. It was expected that the research could generate recommendation for the suitability of those plants as the sources of ruminant ration, new research plan on the comprehensive nutritive values of the plants, and agronomic tests and their procedure in dry land farming systems. Three replicates of leave samples of 3 development phases (old leaves, well developed leaves, and young leaves along with branches) were taken from the three plant species. Therefore, the number of samples was 27. An Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer was employed to analyze proxymat and mineral (Ca and P) content of the leaves. The research result showed that : (a) there was no interaction effect between the plant species and the leave development, (b) the content of all leave nutrients were affected by the plant species except that of fat, whereas the leave development significantly affected only the Calcium content, (c) based on the leave nutrient composition contained, M. oleifera and M. citrifolia could be used as alternative feed particularly for calcium and phosphorous supplies for ruminant in the Palu Valley to replace L. coramandelica which have been more popular, (d) As M. citrifolia and M. oleifera contained sufficiently high BETN level, these plants can be used as an alternative feed that can be mixed with other types of feeds containing non protein nitrogen (NPN), thus enhancing the overall feed nutrition. The research recommend that there is a need to proceed the research on L. coramandelica, M. citrifolia, dan M. oleifera as the source of feed for ruminant in the aspect of biological tests such as preferency and digestibitlity either in-sacco or in-vivo. New experiments relating to growth measurements, productive and reproductive levels will comprehensively add the biological values of the three plants as the sources of ruminant feed.

Abstract

The study aimed to compare several production parameters of Panicum sarmentosum at different defoliation intervals whose its benefit can add knowledge about the favorable defoliation interval of grasses as a feed forage source. The agronomic study was done in plot experiments comparing parameters such as number of tillers, percentage of flowering clumps, forage dry-matter (DM) content, forage DM production, and leaf:stem ratio as an effect of 3 defoliation interval treatments, namely; 4, 5, and 6 weeks with 3 repetitions. The effect of treatment on parameters was determined by the analysis of variance. Significant parameters affected by treatment were then further tested to determine the best defoliation interval between treatments by using the least significancy difference test. The results showed that the number of tillers, the percentage of forage DM content, the production of stem DM (kg/ha) and the leaves stems ratio were not affected by the defoliation interval. Defoliation interval significantly (P<0.05) affected the number (%) of flowering clumps, the production of forage biomass (kgDM/ha), and the production of leaf DM (kgDM/ha) of Panicum sarmentosum Roxb. grass. The one-year observation obtained on the productivity of Panicum sarmentosum Roxb. has not reflected the survivability and productivity of this type of superior local forage yet.

Abstract

Existential anxiety is a growing concern among university students, especially amid academic pressure and uncertainty about the future in the era of the Industrial Revolution 4.0. Research linking existential anxiety to psychological well-being based on Carol Ryff’s theory remains limited. This study aims to examine the relationship between psychological well-being and existential anxiety among university students through the lens of Ryff’s dimensions and Yalom’s concept of existential anxiety. The study adopted a quantitative method and involved 45 fifth-semester students at STIT At-Taqwa Ciparay, Bandung. Data were collected using validated scales and analyzed with the Pearson’s correlation through SPSS version 26. Results showed a significant negative correlation between psychological well-being and existential anxiety. Students with higher psychological well-being reported lower existential anxiety. These findings highlight the need to strengthen psychological well-being as a preventive approach to existential anxiety. The study contributes to educational psychology and supports mental health initiatives in higher education
