Abstract

Films wield significant societal influence by imparting moral messages, particularly resonating with the millennial demographic. This study delves into the moral narrative of the true-story-based film "172 Days." Employing a qualitative descriptive approach, the research scrutinizes the macro, superstructure, and microstructure of the film. Through Teun Van Dick's Critical Discourse Analysis, the macro structure illustrates life's trials, emphasizing patience and sincerity. The superstructure emphasizes love for all things solely for the sake of Allah. Lastly, the microstructure advocates audience sincerity and patience in embracing their destiny. The findings underscore the film's profound message of resilience and faith, resonating with contemporary societal values. By analyzing the film's layers, this research sheds light on the nuanced ways in which cinema shapes moral consciousness and societal perceptions.

Abstract

This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model in enhancing learning outcomes among fourth-grade students at SD IT BUNAYYA, particularly in the subject of form of substances (IPAS). Conducted through classroom action research (PTK) over three cycles, data was collected via observation and tests. The subjects were fourth-grade students, and success was defined as achieving a class average of at least 7.5. Results showed an average score of 6.4 in cycle I, 6.8 in cycle II, and 8.5 in cycle III, indicating a notable improvement in student learning outcomes. Increased learning activity was also observed. Recommendations include implementing the PBL model in teaching form of substances and fostering students' problem-solving skills through discussion. This research benefits students by enhancing learning outcomes, supports teachers in improving teaching quality, and contributes positively to overall school efforts to enhance student performance.

Abstract

This study aims to build a new conceptual model that aims to provide an explanation of a tourism marketing destination, in this case the destination loyalty concept. The conceptual model was built with the aim of creating a bridge to overcome the gap between the Destination service cave quality variables on Destination royalties and information service on destinations. The data taken in this study used data from the Convenience sample. The data was collected from a population of both domestic and foreign tourists visiting destinations in Central Java province and the data was analyzed using the 25 Amos software. Research deserves to be accepted. This study provides evidence that the application of service dominant logic theory and self-concruity theory has become an optimal solution to increase destination loyalty based on the variables proposed from this theory. Companies are expected to provide service providers who are able to encourage positive emotions which are expected to be able to build an alignment. In addition, a destination plan that has a form of consideration in making a hard cape and soft cape. Later it will be able to encourage the emergence of a Destination which can comprehensively lead to an increase in Destination loyalty.

Abstract

Culture, as a nation's invaluable asset, must continuously be introduced and preserved in alignment with the progress of time. Integrating cultural studies with scientific knowledge through education fosters the development of cultural awareness attitudes. A generation trained in cultural sensitivity will recognize the significance of heritage and innovate its presentation to suit contemporary developments. This study explores the use of a Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model integrated with the ethnochemistry of Malay culture—specifically utilizing traditional curd milk—in teaching chemical kinetics to enhance students' cultural awareness. The research employed a quasi-experimental method with a nonequivalent pre-test–post-test control group design, conducted at SMAN 2 Siak Hulu, Kampar, Riau Province, involving Grade XI Science students. Cultural awareness attitudes were assessed using indicators adapted from Wunderle, including data and information gathering, cultural consideration, cultural knowledge, cultural understanding, and cultural competence. The results demonstrated that the experimental group achieved an average cultural awareness score of 81.85 (categorized as Very Good), whereas the control group attained an average of 60.84 (Fairly Good). The learning model contributed significantly to enhancing cultural awareness attitudes, with a contribution rate of 56.1%. These findings suggest that integrating ethnochemistry within PBL effectively cultivates both scientific and cultural competencies in students. Keywords: cultural awareness, ethnochemistry, malay culture, PBL

Abstract

Purpose: This study investigates the impact of physical and social work environments on job satisfaction among seafarers in Indonesian shipping companies, addressing a critical gap in maritime human resource literature. Given the long periods of isolation and high-stress conditions faced by seafarers, understanding workplace dynamics is essential for improving crew retention and operational efficiency. Methodology: A quantitative explanatory survey was conducted with 350 seafarers across different ranks in deck and engine departments of Indonesian-flagged vessels. Stratified random sampling considered variations in work experience, vessel type, and operational route. Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics with SPSS 26, enabling examination of multiple relationships while controlling for confounding variables. Results: Findings show that both physical (working conditions, safety equipment, living quarters) and social environments (team cohesion, supervisor support, communication) positively influence job satisfaction. Social factors exerted 42% greater influence than physical conditions. Additionally, seafarers with over five years of experience reported 28% higher satisfaction. Open-ended responses underscored the importance of fair conflict resolution and recognition systems. Conclusions: While adequate physical conditions remain essential, investments in the social environment particularly leadership training and communication systems produce stronger effects on satisfaction, challenging industry practices that emphasize physical over social improvements. Limitations: Results are limited to Indonesian seafarers and specific shipping segments, suggesting the need for cross-national and longitudinal studies. Contribution: The study offers evidence-based insights for crew management and advances theoretical understanding of job satisfaction in isolated work environments, with a replicable methodological framework for other maritime contexts.
