Abstract

The government's desire to reopen and implement offline education has become a hot topic of discussion lately. The risk of spreading covid 19 to children is the concern of many people. For this reason, mitigation and prevention efforts need to be carried out to reduce the potential for the spread of covid 19. One effort that can be done is to make hand washing a good habit. The activity was carried out by providing training in making liquid hand soap for the community, especially teachers and school students in Dusun X to socialize how to prevent the spread of Covid-19 in schools. Activities are carried out through 5 (five) stages which include (1) Survey (2) Soap Making Test (3) Socialization; (4) Soap-making skills training; (5) Monitoring and Evaluation. It is hoped that the manufacture of natural handwash can be used for schools and school children in Dusun X Batangkuis Deliserdang to prevent covid 19 from going to face-to-face school in 2021.

Abstract

Yayasan Ekosistem Lestari (YEL) in Bahorok Research Station in Bahorok Sub-district, Langkat District, is a very important location for this work. The hilly terrain of the area provides a beautiful landscape and varied flora and fauna with the main attraction being the corpse flower (Amorphophallus sp). With a preserved natural environment and unique ecological features, this research station allows other parties to participate in protecting the area in various conservation campaign, one of which is the installation/establishment of conservation information boards. Conservation information boards can raise public awareness about the importance of protecting forests and their natural environment. Information on ecosystems, flora, fauna, management, and the importance of conservation can be conveyed through these information boards. Information boards are widely used as an educational tool for local communities and visitors to the forest at the research station. They can learn about forest ecology, the negative impacts of deforestation, and sustainable ways of utilizing forest resources. Information boards can also be used to invite community participation in conservation efforts, which is expected to improve the quality of knowledge and understanding of conservation areas for communities, researchers, and tourists. Therefore, the installation/establishment of conservation information boards needs to be carried out at Bahorok Research Station, Batu Katak as one of the campaign and solutions to maintain the natural conditions in the forest and river.

Abstract

Paraboea leuserensis BL Burtt, a plant endemic to the provinces of Aceh and North Sumatra, is traditionally used for medicinal purposes by chewing or boiling, treating conditions such as stomach aches and increasing stamina. Research This aiming to know difference activity antioxidant and antimicrobial from extract ethanol gagatan harimau leaves. Extraction was carried out using the maceration method using ethanol solvent. Phytochemical testing includes tests alkanoids, flavonoids, glycosides, saponins, tannins, steroids and triterpenoids. Antioxidant activity was tested using the DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picryl hydrazyl) method which was measured at a wavelength of 515 nm and antibacterial activity test by disc diffusion method (Kirby-Bauer Test). Test results phytochemicals show metabolit secondary contained​ in extract ethanol leaf idea tiger among them alkaloids, flavonoids, glycosides, saponins, tannins, and steroids/triterpenoids. Extract ethanol gagatan harimau leaf own activity antioxidants that are classified as strong based on IC50 value obtained​ as big as 45.95 ppm Activity test antimicrobial In E. coli inhibition zone value highest at concentrations of 75%, and 50%., S. aureus mark the highest inhibition zone at concentrations of 75% and 50%, then in C. albicans with inhibition zone values at concentrations of 75% and 50%.

Abstract

Hutan mangrove merupakan kawasan penyangga antara kawasan daratan dengan perairan, tumbuh dan berkembang di kawasan pesisir. Mangrove memiliki banyak manfaat dari segi aspek ekologi, fisik, dan ekonomi. Pulau Sicanang memiliki bentangan mangrove yang sangat luas, salah satunya dari kelompok famili Lythraceae. Akan tetapi belum diidentifikasi berapa jumlah jenisnya. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengidentifikasi jenis tumbuhan famili Lythraceae di hutan mangrove Pulau Sicanang dan mendeskripsikan karakteristik morfologi serta anatomi stomata daunnya. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksploratif untuk mengkoleksi sampel famili Lythraceae di empat stasiun yang menjadi jalur jelajah. Data karakteristik jenis-jenis famili Lythracea dianalisis secara deskriptif. Kerapatan dan distribusi stomata epidermis daun dianalisis secara kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian diperoleh bahwa terdapat tiga jenis famili Lythraceae berdasarkan karakterisktik morfologinya, yaitu Sonneratia alba, Sonneratia caseolaris dan Sonneratia ovata. Status konservasi famili Lythraceae di Pulau Sicanang berdasarkan IUCN Red List of Threatened Species masuk ke dalam kategori Least Concernt (Sonneratia alba dan Sonneratia caseolaris); dan kategori Near Threatened (Sonneratia ovata). Sonneratia alba, Sonneratia caseolaris dan Sonneratia ovata memiliki tipe stomata anomositik dan distribusi stomata tersebar. Kerapatan stomata Sonneratia alba masuk ke dalam kategori tinggi (>500/mm2), sedangkan Sonneratia caseolaris dan Sonneratia ovata masuk dalam kategori rendah (<300/mm2).

Abstract

Lebah Heterotrigona itama merupakan salah satu lebah yang banyak ditemui di daerah tropis seperti Indonesia. Lebah ini tidak memiliki sengat dan hidup secara berkoloni. H. itama dapat menghasilkan madu, propolis, roti lebah dan juga berperan dalam penyerbukan tumbuhan. Peran atau manfaat dari Heterotrigona itama dapat berjalan dengan baik apabila kebutuhan pangannya terpenuhi. Lebah ini mengumpulkan polen yang digunakan sebagai sumber makanannya. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui tumbuhan-tumbuhan yang berperan sebagai sumber polen bagi H. itama. Untuk mengidentifikasi tumbuhan sumber polen digunakan metode asetolisis. Ditemukan 14 spesies tumbuhan yang merupakan sumber polen bagi H. itama yaitu Ageratum conyzoides, Cocos nucifera, Triumfetta semitriloba, Abutilon julianae, Lagenaria siceraria, Cynodon dactylon, Haloragis brownii, Ruellia tuberosa, Calatola sanguinensis, Oenothera clavaeformis, Dombeya burgessiae, Cucumis melo, Trianthema portulacastrum, dan Nerium oleander. Polen dari L. siceraria (73.17%) merupakan spesies yang paling dominan ditemukan pada koloni satu, polen dari D. burgessiae (48.83%) merupakan spesies yang paling dominan ditemukan pada koloni dua dan polen dari D. burgessiae (15.79%) juga merupakan spesies yang paling dominan ditemukan pada koloni tiga.
