Abstract

Characterization of eggplant endophyte bacteria and rhizobacteria as well as their antagonistic ability against Ralstoniasolanacearum. Bacterial wilt caused by Ralsonia solanacearum is one of important diseases causing severe loses in eggplantproduction. Various strategies were used to manage bacterial wilt, including planting resistant varieties, soil amandement, andsoil solarization. However, management of R. solanacearum in eggplant by using endophytic bacteria and rhizobacteria werenot been done that much. The objective of this study was to: (1) characterization of endophytic and rhizobacteria; (2)determines the inhibition ability of endophytic and rhizobacteria isolates against R. solanacearum pathogen on eggplant. Thelaboratory experiment was arranged in completely randomized design with 5 treatments and 5 replications. The double layermethod using yeast peptone glucose agar (YPGA) medium was used in vitro test. Based on the morphological characteristicsthese isolates were suspected as a member of genus Bacillus. Among the isolates used in this study, TK isolate showed thebest capability to inhibit growth of R. solanacearum.

Abstract

Empowering SMEs in the midst of globalization and high competition has forced MSMEs to face global challenges, such as increasing innovation, developing human resources and technology, and expanding the marketing area. Social networks provide a medium for processing new innovations for SMEs such as relationships with customers, work partners and also suppliers. Business process management can assist business actors in carrying out their business activities in the face of today's challenges and global competition. This study reveals that every business process can be supported by the implementation of IT by a company. This study uses a grounded theory approach. Grounded theory studies tend to follow a structured approach. This research uses case studies of hydroponic SMEs in Indonesia, which produce the types of social media social media functions that are often used by Indonesians. The main strength of this research is the functions of social media needed by SME actors. From the results of the study it was found that SMEs need social media functionality in 4 functions, namely: the interaction function, the marketing function, the reputation function, and the information function. SMEs in Indonesia need applications that contain these 4 functions to be able to market, sell, and interact with other people.

Abstract

Delivering information in agricultural extension requires a special strategy by considering various elements in agricultural extension. One of the communication strategies used by agricultural instructors in this digital era is by utilizing social media, where instructors convey their communication material through various media, both traditional and modern. The aim of this research is to describe the perceptions of instructors in the use of digital technology in delivering extension services. The research used a survey method with a sampling technique using simplified random sampling consisting of 60 extension workers. Data analysis to measure instructors' perceptions of instructors' communication strategies in using digital media was carried out by calculating scores. The results of the research show that the communication strategies used by extension workers in delivering education to farmers can be applied so that farmers can carry out internal communication activities using digital media more efficiently and effectively in conveying recommended recommendations in farming. Extension workers have a positive perception of communication strategies in the use of information which is demonstrated through communication techniques, communication channels, communication messages and use of the internet. The instructor's perception is in the medium criteria where the instructor is quite good in carrying out his communication activities.

Abstract

An important disease in eggplant is bacterial wilting caused by Ralstonia solanacearum. The aim of this research is to characterize the biochemical endophytic bacteria isolated from eggplant root (BEAT) and as an agent for promoting plant growth and controlling bacterial wilt disease in planta. This research was conducted at the Plant Protection Laboratory and screen house of the Faculty of Agriculture, Jenderal Soedirman University, Purwokerto. This research was conducted descriptively to test the biochemical character of BEAT and used a Complete Randomized Block Design (RCBD) in the in planta test with 4 treatments, 6 replications and 3 plants each treatment, so that 72 plants were tested. The treatment consisted of control (without endophytic bacteria) and 3 BEAT isolates. The results showed that the endophytic bacterium AKc isolate had the ability as a bacterium to promote plant growth by producing IAA phytohormones, phosphate solvents, enzymes producing proteases, cellulase, amylase, chitinase, and HCN, as well as increasing the root volume and fresh weight of plants respectively by 40, 42% and 31%, suppressing the disease intensity by 33.33% and able to suppress bacterial wilting the best on the AUDPC value that is 47.32% -day.

Abstract

Digital technology is crucial in advancing digital agriculture by enabling farmers to access valuable information such as planting schedules, pest and disease management, and market price trends. Despite its potential, the use of ICT by farmers remains limited due to inadequate internet access. In 2018, only about 25.7% of farmers in Indonesia had internet connectivity. Given this situation, it is essential to investigate the efficiency of ICT utilization among farmers, particularly in the Kebumen Regency. This research aims to understand farmers' perceptions of ICT usage and identify the diversity of ICT access at the farmer level. The study involved 90 rice farmers in Kebumen Regency. Access to ICT tools in this research refers to smartphones, computers, and laptops. Farmers' perceptions of ICT usage were assessed using a four-point Likert scale with the following options: strongly agree, agree, disagree, and strongly disagree. The development of the survey statements was guided by the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) theory, which identifies two key factors influencing technology adoption: Perceived Usefulness (PU) and Perceived Ease of Use (PEOU). The findings reveal that smartphones are the most widely used among the various ICT tools available to farmers. The study also indicates that farmers generally perceive the usefulness (PU) and ease of use (PEOU) of ICT tools. Based on these results, future agricultural extension strategies should prioritize the development of applications that are easily accessible via smartphones.

Abstract

Changes in the economic structure in Kebumen Regency over the last few decades have resulted in changes in the composition of labor absorption and have led to a slowdown in farmer regeneration in Kebumen Regency. This research was conducted to determine the influence of economic expectations on the interest of farmer children in working in the agricultural sector. The primary data was obtained through structured interviews with farmer children in Kebumen Regency. Data appropriately collected is then analyzed using a probit regression model. The analysis results show that children of farmers in Kebumen Regency are still interested in working in the agricultural sector. The level of economic expectations of children of farmers in Kebumen Regency regarding the agricultural sector is 54.47%, meaning that children of farmers in Kebumen Regency are optimistic that the agricultural sector will develop. Factors that influence farmers' children's interest in working in the agricultural sector are the feelings of farmer children, the level of knowledge of farmer children about the agricultural sector, the level of education of farmer children, the role of friends, and the level of economic expectations of farmer children towards the agricultural sector. The interest of children of farmers can be increased by providing roles and space for children of farmers to carry out activities in the agricultural sector, providing education about the agricultural sector, increasing the productivity of cultivated plants, stabilizing prices of agricultural products at the farmer level, increasing production efficiency, and implementing appropriate technology.
