Abstract

This study aims to analyze the achievement of library facilities and infrastructure at SMP 1 Pattallassang and SMP 2 Pattallassang based on the National Library Standards (SNP) for Schools Number 11 of 2017. The research uses a descriptive qualitative method. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, with five librarians as data sources. The analysis was conducted in three stages: data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results show that the achievement of library facilities and infrastructure standards in both schools is quite good, although some aspects are still unmet, particularly regarding the library's location, which remains integrated with the school building. Available facilities include work desks and chairs, reading tables and chairs, bookshelves, catalog cabinets, magazine racks, circulation desks, and computer equipment. Librarians strive to meet the standards by providing the necessary facilities. SMP 2 Pattallassang implements a floor-seating method for visitors, while SMP 1 Pattallassang provides two models of reading tables: tables that can be used as classrooms and tables with partitions to enhance visitor comfort. In conclusion, school libraries have met most of the standards, although improvements are still needed in terms of location and certain infrastructure aspect.

Abstract

Literatify Journal is an academic journal that publishes issues related to the development of libraries. This journal is officially published by the Library of UIN Alauddin Makassar. One of the methods that can be used to calculate the half-life and obsolescence of literature is through a bibliometric study. This is necessary as a consideration for determining the relevance and usage period of references in scientific works. This study employed a quantitative research approach. The population in this research consists of all citations referenced in Literatify Journal articles that include publication years. Based on the analysis of 46 articles with a total of 405 citations, the half-life of Literatify Journal publications from 2020 to 2023 was found to be 7 years. Among these citations, 145 (36%) were considered obsolete, while 260 (64%) were considered current. Based on these findings, it is recommended that future scientific works refer to literature published no more than 7 years prior to the date of writing.

Abstract

Perpustakaan perguruan tinggi memiliki tanggung jawab untuk menyediakan koleksi yang relevan dan berkualitas guna mendukung kegiatan pendidikan, penelitian, dan pengembangan ilmu pengetahuan. Namun, pertambahan koleksi yang tidak diimbangi dengan pengelolaan yang tepat dapat menyebabkan penumpukan bahan pustaka yang tidak lagi sesuai kebutuhan pengguna. Salah satu upaya yang dilakukan untuk menjaga kualitas koleksi adalah kegiatan penyiangan (weeding), termasuk penyiangan koleksi skripsi. Artikel ini membahas pelaksanaan penyiangan koleksi skripsi yang dilakukan oleh mahasiswa Jurusan Ilmu Perpustakaan UIN Alauddin Makassar melalui kegiatan Praktik Kerja Lapangan (PKL) di Perpustakaan Politeknik Ilmu Pelayaran Makassar. Metode pelaksanaan dilakukan secara tatap muka dalam lingkungan kerja nyata selama satu bulan lebih, dengan pendampingan pustakawan dan dosen pembimbing. Tahapan kegiatan meliputi identifikasi koleksi, seleksi berdasarkan kriteria relevansi dan kondisi fisik, serta dokumentasi hasil penilaian. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa penyiangan berdampak positif terhadap peningkatan kualitas koleksi, efisiensi ruang penyimpanan, dan kemudahan temu kembali informasi. Selain itu, kegiatan ini memberikan pengalaman praktis bagi mahasiswa dalam menerapkan teori manajemen koleksi, meningkatkan kompetensi profesional, dan memperkuat kesiapan mereka memasuki dunia kerja. Dengan demikian, penyiangan koleksi skripsi tidak hanya mendukung optimalisasi layanan perpustakaan, tetapi juga berperan sebagai sarana pembelajaran berbasis praktik bagi mahasiswa.
