Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to explore the history of the arrival of the Chinese community in Saparua and identify the dynamics of the Chinese community's life in terms of social, economic, political, cultural and governance aspects in Saparua. Thus, it is hoped that this research can enrich the historiography of the relatively few Saparua Chinese in Maluku. The research method used is the historical method which consists of four stages, namely heuristics, criticism, interpretation, and historiography using theories and other relevant social science concepts. From this research, it is known that the Chinese community in Saparua has existed for a long time. This is evidenced by the existence of relics in the form of old Chinese graves, Chinese churches, and Chinese schools in Saparua. The social life of the Chinese community and the local community there still has a very good relationship. This can be seen by the use of the original clan in Saparua and the use of the Malay language of Saparua by the Chinese community. In addition, the Chinese people live their lives side by side with one another regardless of ethnicity and skin color. The Chinese community does not play an important role in politics or their government is more inclined to the economic field. This can be seen from their livelihood as a wholesaler of grocery, building materials and basic necessities. They do this economic activity every day so that the ethnic Chinese in Saparua are referred to by the local community as "Saparua Chinese". Thus the Chinese people in Saparua have considered themselves as Saparua people.

Abstract

Historical, in addition to having auxiliary science in his knowledge, history also establish relationships with other sciences, especially fellow social sciences. In this connection what happens is a relationship of mutual need, herein lies the difference with the concept of science Auxiliary history, where a more dominant history in need of help to uncover a problem, more precisely we can call it with a combination of two social sciences. The development of post-World War II History shows a strong tendency to use the social sciences approach in historical studies. One of the basic ideas is that: the descriptive-narrative history is no longer satisfactory to explain complex problems or symptoms in the event of History. Psychology is very related to mental and psychological human. Humans who become the object of historical study is not just explained about the actions taken and what is caused by the action? why someone does that action? These questions pertain to the psychological condition in question. Conditions that can be caused by stimuli from the outside or the environment, can also from within himself. The use of social phsychology in history, gave birth to the focus of the study of the history of mentality.

Abstract

This community service program was initiated to address the low level of historical awareness in island communities rich in local artifacts and narratives but underutilized in education. The purpose was to foster collaboration between schools and communities in preserving local history through the development of a mini museum and traveling exhibition titled “Tracing the History of the Small Islands of Maluku.” The method employed a participatory approach, field observation, co-design workshops, guide training, and mixed-method evaluation under a reflective action framework. Findings indicated a 32% increase in students’ historical awareness and greater community participation in cultural preservation. The mini museum and mobile exhibition proved effective as educational media and cultural identity enhancers. The program introduced an innovative community-based cultural engagement model applicable to other island regions. It implies the integration of local history into curricula and promotes sustained collaboration among universities, schools, and communities
