Abstract

Human resource management practices are implemented for achieving thecompany's business sustainability. Otherwise, many companies have not realized the importance of implementing human resource management practices themselves. This study aims to analyzing the implementation of human resource management practices based on technical and non-technical employees in two different work units, namely the head office and the factory at a sugarcane plantation company in East Java Province. Approximately 150 employees selected through the proportional random sampling method from two work units and different job categories were involved as the inside sample. This research uses inferential statistical analysis method. The results of the study show that technical and non-technical employees who work in two different work units have different responses to the implementation of human resource management practices that have been implemented. Differences that occur due to differences in competency requirements and work units are also different. Furthermore, the results of the study show that compensation and career development are two variables that are considered to still need more attention and improvement from the company. Overall, the research results can also be used as material for evaluation and policy recommendations for the implementation of human resource management in companies.

Abstract

The land conversion of rice farming could only be prevented by increasing farming competitiveness. The first step is to map the resource availability supporting paddy farming and income achievement. Therefore, this study aimed to analyze resource availability and income achievement to increase paddy business competitiveness. It used a survey method and observed two populations of farmers producing paddy seed and rice in Tanjung Lago and Rambutan Districts, Banyuasin Regency. Simple random sampling was adopted to determine 130 respondents from two populations, each with 65 rice and paddy seed farmers. The findings showed that resource availability supports farming in tidal land, though it is significantly higher for paddy seed than rice farmers. Regarding income achievements, paddy seed farmers also have higher R/C and B/C values than rice farmers. Income for rice farmers mainly comes from corn, rubber, and oil palm, while paddy seed farmers earn from their farming. This implies that the chance of land conversion into plantations and corn farming is greater for rice than for paddy seed farmers. When this happens on a large scale and in the long term, it impacts national rice production. Therefore, improved resource availability and better integration in production could sustainably increase paddy farming production in tidal land.

Income earned Rp 4,301,211.00/year/family, lower than the income of Rp 33,070,945.00/year/family after migrating. Income get from illegal logging are Rp 13.087.945/year/family. Average migrant allocates 60.81 % of its total income for consumption, and the remaining 39.19 % is allocated to farming and non-farming activities. This study suggests that there should be an increase in revenue breakthrough in the area of origin to be able to suppress the migration process becomes illegal loggers to other areas. Low income is the core problem of farmers to migrate. Required two basic designs: (1) social engineering with community and (2) technical engineering in the direction of the multiproduct and multifunctional forest benefits to overcome the problems of forestry in the long run.

Abstract

Employees are one of the main resources of the organization that has an important role in carrying out activities and determining policies in the organization. Companies need to be able to improve employee performance and create a sustainable competitive advantage. The application of human resource management practices can improve employee performance. But several studies state that intrapreneurial behavior and soft skill also affected it.This study aims to analyze the relationship between human resource management practices, intrapreneurial behavior, and soft skills on the performance of employees working at PT Perkebunan Nusantara XI. The integrated research model was developed by combining three main variables from various literature. Primary data was collected through 150 questionnaires for selected employees working in the head office and production work units. The validity and reliability of the model are tested using by structural equation model. This study was conducted at a state-owned agribusiness organization based on crosssectional data, so it cannot be generalized to a wider range of sectors. The results of this study showed that the variables of human resource management practices and soft skills significantly influence employee performance. The results of the study have the potential to assist policymakers, stakeholders, and organization management in adopting well-articulated findings to improve the quality of human resources and create sustainable competitive advantages. This study contributes to the expansion of literature based on empirical evidence relating to the relationship of human resource management practices, intrapreneurial behavior, and soft skills.

Abstract

In carrying out rice farming in non tidal swamp land, farmers face various problems. The problems or obstacles faced by farmers cause low productivity and sometimes crop failure. Low productivity has an impact on the low income earned by farming households and in aggregate can disrupt national food security and security. If the income earned by farmers from rice farming continues to decline, it is likely that farmers' interest in cultivating rice will also decrease and over time this will threaten the sustainability of rice farming in non tidal swamp areas. Therefore, this research aims to (1) Analyze the factors that are problematic in non tidal swamp land in rice farming, (2) Analyze indicators of interest in the sustainability of non tidal swamp rice farming in South Sumatra Province and (3) Analyze The influence of the problems of non tidal swamp land on farmers' interest in continuing to cultivate rice in non tidal swamp land. The research method used was a survey method with 80 farmers as respondents. The data analysis used in this research is multiple regression analysis and sustainability index figures. The TKT output target of this research is that the important concepts and characteristics of a technology have been proven analytically and experimentally. The results of the research show that the educational human capital variable has a significant effect on problems in the non tidal swamp area. From the results of the analysis, it can also be seen that the sustainability value is 55, meaning that the sustainability of rice farming in the non tidal swamps of South Sumatra Province is at a fairly sustainable level. These results are also in line with field conditions, where farmers still want or are interested in continuing to carry out rice farming in non tidal swamp land. The relationship obtained from the data analysis carried out between the problems of non tidal swamp land and the interest in sustainable farming which was analyzed using a correlation test had a value of 0.45, which means that there is a fairly strong relationship between the problems of lowland swamp land and farmers' interest in continuing to carry out sustainable farming.
