Abstract

Disguised unemployment experienced by farmers in Indonesia are often caused by Zero Marginal Productivity of Labor . However, the completion of disguised unemployment has been only focused on the improvement of the economic structural transformation from agriculture to industry as an aspect of macro analysis, without considering aspects of micro analysis. Though micro analysis through socioeconomic rationality farm households can solve problems underemployment get to the root of the problem, because the basic analysis departs from the social and economic rational behavior. The research was conducted in the village of East Mount Merapi Flower District of Lahat. The research technique is a survey method. Sampling using the simple random method. Socioeconomic rationality analysis of disguised unemployment completion done with tabulation analysis, mathematics, and simulation. Abstract

This study aims to determine species distribution by observing the stingless bees cultivated by the community in South Sumatra Province using meliponiculture. By visiting boxes and studying the entrance and characteristics of stingless bee hives at each research location, bee samples were obtained in six districts or cities where beekeepers exist. The study was conducted from January 2023 to May 2023. The type of bee species was identified in each culture box, the diameter of the entrance was measured, and the diameters of the honey pot and brood cell pot were measured. A descriptive analysis was performed to gain an overview of each entrance and nest. Based on the identification results, eight different varieties of stingless bees were discovered. Each research site had an unequal distribution of the eight varieties of bees. Lepidotrigona terminata, Heterotrigona itama, Lophotrigona canifrons, Geniotrigona thoracica, Tetrigona apicalis, Tetragonula testaceitarsis, Tetragonula fuscobalateata, and Tetragonula laeviceps are examples of stingless bees. Variations in the size of identified stingless bees affect the size of the hive, brood cell, honey pot, and entrance. The nest, brood cells, honey pot, and entrance grow in proportion to the size of the stingless bee. Differences in the form and size of the entrance can also distinguish between species.

Develop a strategy to overcome illegal logging and forest deforestation based on the socio-economic characteristics of the logger. The analysis showed that socio-economic conditions of the migrant who become illegal loggers illustrates that they are still a low level of education and have productive age. Income earned Rp 4,301,211.00/year/family, lower than the income of Rp 33,070,945.00/year/family after migrating. Income get from illegal logging are Rp 13.087.945/year/family. Average migrant allocates 60.81 % of its total income for consumption, and the remaining 39.19 % is allocated to farming and non-farming activities. This study suggests that there should be an increase in revenue breakthrough in the area of origin to be able to suppress the migration process becomes illegal loggers to other areas. Low income is the core problem of farmers to migrate. Required two basic designs: (1) social engineering with community and (2) technical engineering in the direction of the multiproduct and multifunctional forest benefits to overcome the problems of forestry in the long run.

Abstract

The sustainability of peatlands required sustainable thinking to protect the existing ecosystem. One of the restoration efforts was the application agrosilvofishery model with 3R (Rewetting, Revegetation and Revitalization) on peatlands. The research objective was to examine the economic value of application agrosilvofishery model on peatlands with a combination of jelutung, chilies and catfish. The research method used purposive sampling method where research location was selected in OKI Regency, South Sumatra. The sample of research was 10 who has their own degraded peatlands, then empowerment them to cultivate peatlands, to obtain the optimal benefits. It was selected based on quota in action research. Farmers selected forest and fruit plants to plant on peat based on their interests. In economic study, the acceptance value was obtained from the agrosilvofishery model, namely jelutung Rp. 716,473,469/m3/30 years, jelutung sap 2,782,080,000/kg/30 years, chilies received Rp. 40,000,000/year, and the average income for catfish was Rp. 1,836,000,000/year. Sensitivity analysis of jelutung-chili-catfish agrosilvofishery obtained an NPV of Rp. 13,413,797,049, IRR (+) 60%, Net B/C 7.1, Gross B/C 3.7, and PP 0.01/year. From the results of this study, farming on peatland with the agrosilvofishery model was feasible. The development strategy by using the business canvas model agrosilvofishery provided an overview of peatlands sustainability in future. Further, this research provided an illustration that to provide for a decent life, farmers need to think about short, medium and long term businesses.   Keywords: Agrosilvofishery, Chili, Jelutung, Catfish, Canvas Business

Abstract

Gambier is the leading commodity of Musi Banyuasin Regency and the only regency in South Sumatra Province that actively cultivates and processes the gambier commodity. This study aimed to formulate alternative strategies for developing gambier agribusiness. This research was conducted in Toman Village, Babat Toman District, Musi Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra Province. The research site was selected using a purposive sampling method. This study employed a survey approach involving eleven respondents, comprising experts, gambier farmers, and members of the general public in Toman Village. The data collected were analyzed qualitatively using a SWOT analysis framework. The results of the SWOT analysis indicate that the primary strategy for developing the gambier agribusiness falls within the first quadrant, representing the Strengths-Opportunities (SO) strategy. This strategy focuses on leveraging existing strengths to capitalize on and optimize available opportunities. The proposed actions include maximizing the application of cultivation technologies in gambier farming, expanding agro-industrial activities to enhance value-added processing, strengthening institutional support for gambier farmers, and promoting increased domestic consumption of gambier products. Through the implementation of this strategy, the main problem of gambier agribussiness in Toman Village, namely the low quality and limited inovation of gambier products, can be effectively addressed.
