Abstract

ABSTRACTGeneration Z, being a digital cohort, utilizes social media platforms as a way to consistently acquire acknowledgment by increasing the quantity of followers, likes, shares, and comments. The content exhibited on social media platforms assumes significant importance for individuals. This is due to the fact that Generation Z lacks exposure to the convergence of the physical and digital realms [1]. Developing exceptional online personas on social media is an inherent phenomenon, since their persona as a fictional generation materializes in the virtual realm. The formation of an online persona occurs without the deliberate presentation of true impressions, such as a genuine smile, body language, and other non-verbal clues. This process results in the creation of an authentic self-identity that is free from manipulation. The objective of this study is to investigate the process of online persona construction among individuals belonging to Generation Z through the utilization of photovoice methodologies. The research participants consisted of individuals from generation Z, specifically between the ages of 18 and 27, possessed a social media followed by over 1,000 followers and actively engaged in self-presentation on social media platforms. Participants engage in a comprehensive training program on smart photography techniques. Subsequently, they are required to capture photographs using a smartphone camera for a duration of 7 days and subsequently share them on their own social media platforms. The process of data extraction will involve conducting in-depth interviews to gather a comprehensive understanding of their online persona’s building experience. This information will then be examined thematically, taking into account the participants' descriptions of the images they captured. The results of the thematic analysis conducted using the Nvivo 12 software revealed that the online persona is associated with a self-presentation strategy that encompasses the deliberate selection of photo displays as cues, the effectiveness of captions, proficiency in capturing displays (photos or videos), and the precision in choosing upload times. The self-presentation strategy is implemented with three primary goals: to cultivate favor and approval (ingratiation), to promote oneself, and to serve as a source of inspiration or example (exemplification).

Abstract

Nurses have a major contribution to the health sector, both physically and mentally. In their duties, nurses are required to display emotions according to institutional expectations, a process known as emotional labor. This study examines the relationship between emotional labor and psychological well-being among nurses at X Hospital in North Lampung. The research employed a quantitative method with a total sample of 70 nurses out of 73 available. The instruments used were the Emotional Labor Scale consisting of 27 items (? = 0.930) and the Psychological Well-Being Scale with 20 items based on the PERMA theory (? = 0.850), using a four-point Likert scale. Data were analyzed using SPSS 25.0 to test normality, reliability, linearity, and Pearson correlation. The results showed a significant positive correlation between emotional labor and psychological well-being (r = 0.293; p = 0.014). This finding highlights the importance of effective emotional management for nurses’ mental health.

Abstract

This study explores the process of developing high self-esteem among visually impaired adolescents at SLB A Bina Insani, Bandar Lampung, based on Coopersmith's Self-Esteem Theory (1967). A qualitative approach with a multiple case study design was used to explore in depth the psychological and social processes underlying self-esteem. Three participants with high self-esteem were selected using the Coopersmith Self-Esteem Inventory (CSEI). Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation, then analyzed thematically. The results show that high self-esteem is formed dynamically through the interaction of internal and external factors. Coopersmith's four factors : acceptance, control, expectations and standards, and rewarding of competence interact with aspects of self-esteem : significance, competence, virtue, and power through self-acceptance, realistic expectations, independence, and appreciation of self-competence. Social support from family, teachers, and peers strengthens this process, resulting in independence, optimism, and resilience in the face of stigma and obstacles. This study emphasizes the importance of unconditional acceptance from family, an inclusive and supportive learning environment, and a culture of appreciation to support the development of positive self-esteem in visually impaired adolescents

Abstract

Teachers in Special Education Schools (SLB), such as YSCL Bandar Lampung, face significant challenges in educating students with special needs. High workloads, performance demands, and limited support often lead to increased levels of job burnout. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of self-efficacy training in reducing job burnout and enhancing educational quality in the special education context. A quasi-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest approach was used. Participants were selected using the saturated sampling technique. Data was collected using the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) and the Teachers’ Sense of Efficacy Scale (TSES). Data analysis was performed using paired t-tests, ANOVA, and regression to assess the impact of the training on teacher self-efficacy and burnout. Pretest results showed that 70% of teachers experienced moderate burnout, 20% mild burnout, and 10% severe. After the intervention, the rate of mild burnout increased to 35%, moderate burnout was 65%, and there were no longer any teachers experiencing severe burnout. Following the intervention, the proportion of teachers reporting mild burnout. increased to 35%, while no teachers remained in the severe category. The burnout score also showed a significant reduction from 60.65 to 53.20 (t = 3.308; p = 0.004), indicating the effectiveness of the self-efficacy training program. These results support the integration of self-efficacy training into professional development programs for special education teachers. Schools and education authorities are encouraged to adopt similar interventions to improve teacher well-being and resilience, particularly in inclusive and high-demand educational environments.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of workload on subjective well-being among young ustadz and ustadzah working in Islamic boarding schools (pesantren). Using a quantitative approach with simple linear regression analysis, this research involved 276 respondents aged 18–29 years who were actively teaching in various pesantren across Indonesia. Data were collected using validated measurement instruments, including the Satisfaction With Life Scale (SWLS), the Positive and Negative Affect Schedule (PANAS) based on Diener’s theory (2018), and a workload scale developed based on Gawron’s theory (2018). Data analysis was conducted using SPSS version 27, encompassing validity testing, reliability testing, normality testing, and Pearson product–moment correlation analysis. The results indicated that workload had a positive and significant relationship with subjective well-being (r = 0.520, p < 0.001). This finding suggests that higher workload is associated with higher levels of subjective well-being when work is perceived as meaningful and interpreted as a form of devotion. Within the pesantren context, spiritual meaning and religious values play a crucial role in transforming work pressure into a source of psychological satisfaction and happiness. These results highlight the importance of value-based work environments in shaping positive psychological outcomes. This study contributes to the development of positive psychology, particularly in enhancing the understanding of well-being within religious-based work settings.

Abstract

This study explores online self-presentation strategies among Indonesian university students who actively use Instagram. Employing a descriptive qualitative design, two participants (SR and MT) were selected based on their high level of engagement on the platform and their willingness to provide access to both primary and secondary Instagram accounts. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observational analysis of Instagram activities, and content documentation. The data were analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model to identify key patterns of digital self-presentation. The findings reveal five core self-presentation strategies aligned with Hogan’s (2010) digital dramaturgy framework: performance, exhibition, curation, audience selection, and archive control. SR demonstrated a spontaneous and reflective self-presentation style grounded in authenticity, whereas MT employed deliberate curation to construct a professional and aesthetically refined digital identity. These findings indicate that Instagram functions as a dynamic digital stage in which students strategically manage impressions in accordance with social contexts and identity goals. This study contributes to the growing discourse on digital culture by illustrating how Indonesian university students negotiate authenticity and professionalism in their online self-presentation practices.
