Abstract

Evaluation of land suitability is carried out to perceive the potential and limitation factors of an area as an agricultural development area. Air Putih Village is one of the potential area for watermelon development area. This research was conducted to perceive the level of actual and potential land suitability for watermelon cultivation in Air Putih Village, Tuah Madani District, Pekanbaru City in the form of a semi-detailed map scale of 1:25.000. The method used in this study was a purposive sampling survey based on a map of land units. There were 7 units of land covering an area of 330.56 ha with a total of 21 sample points. Data were sourced from field observation, analysis of chemistry and physics of soil samples at the laboratory and secondary data from climate data. Land suitability assessment was carried out using the limiting factor matching method. The actual land suitability was in class S3 and N with effective soil depth (rc), base saturation (nr), slope (eh) and soil texture (rc) as limiting factors. The class of the potential land suitability for watermelon cultivation were S2, S3 and N.

Abstract

Anggrek menjadi salah satu jenis tanaman hias yang populer digunakan, baik di dalam maupun luar ruangan, karena keindahan warna dan variasi bentuk bunganya. Serangan penyakit pada bagian tanaman dapat menurunkan kualitas dan kuantitasnya, sehingga berdampak pada kerugian ekonomi karena konsumen umumnya enggan membeli tanaman yang terinfeksi. Kurangnya informasi mengenai jenis penyakit yang menyerang tanaman hias, khususnya Anggrek, di lokasi pengabdian de Garden menunjukkan pentingnya dilakukan kegiatan pendampingan. Informasi mengenai penyakit tanaman hias sangat diperlukan guna mendukung upaya diagnosis dan pengendalian. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan petani mengenai penyakit pada tanaman Anggrek, cara mendiagnosisnya, pilihan pengendalian yang dapat dilakukan, serta melakukan evaluasi. Metode yang digunakan dalam pengabdian ini dengan melakukan penyuluhan, pelatihan, pembuatan petak percontohan dan pretetst serta postest dengan kuisioner. Berdasarkan hasil pretest menunjukkan peserta tidak mampu menjawab 15% dari pertanyaan yang diajukan pada kuisioner kemudian setelah dilakukan pendampingan dilakukan posttest dan didapatkan peserta telah mampu menjawab dan memahami 80% kuisioner. Hasil pendampingan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pemahaman, yang tercermin dari hasil sesi tanya jawab di akhir kegiatan, dan dapat diimplementasikan untuk mendukung pengembangan usaha tani tanaman hias. Pendampingan yang dilakukan dapat meningkatkan tingkat pengetahuan petani tentang hama dan penyakit dan cara pengendalian dengan sistem pengendalian hama terpadu.

Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the effects of applying solid compost and coal fly ash on the improvement of Ultisol chemical properties and to determine the optimal dosage for its application. Ultisol, known for its high acidity, low organic matter content, and limited nutrient availability, requires specific amendments for optimization. The study was conducted using a factorial completely randomized design (CRD) with 12 treatment combinations: four levels of solid compost (0 t.ha-1, 2,5 t.ha-1, 5 t.ha-1 dan 7,5 t.ha-1) and three levels of fly ash (0 t.ha-1, 3 t.ha-1 and 6 t.ha-1), each with three replications. The soil that has been treated is incubated for two weeks, then the chemical properties of the soil are analyzed. The results showed that the combination of solid compost and fly ash significantly improved Ultisol chemical properties, including increasing soil pH, reducing Al-dd levels, and enhancing P-available, organic carbon (organic C), total nitrogen (total N), cation exchange capacity (CEC), and total potassium (total K). The combination of 7,5 t.ha-1 solid compost and 6 t.ha-1 fly ash provided the best results, achieving a soil pH of 5.15, an increase available P to 23.7 ppm, and a high CEC level. This combination effectively improved Ultisol quality, making it more supportive for plant growth.

Abstract

Latar Belakang : Stunting merupakan salah satu masalah gizi kronis yang berdampak signifikan pada pertumbuhan dan perkembangan anak. Ibu hamil dengan kekurangan energi kronik (KEK) memiliki risiko tinggi melahirkan bayi dengan berat badan lahir rendah (BBLR) yang menjadi salah satu faktor utama penyebab stunting. Tujuan: untuk mengetahui pengaruh pendidikan kesehatan berbasis audio visual terhadap pengetahuan pencegahan stunting pada ibu hamil dengan KEK. Metode Penelitian : Jenis penelitian ini adalaah quasi eksperimen dengan desain one group pretest posttest desain. Sampel pada penelitian ini adalah ibu hamil dengan KEK di Wilayah Kerja Puskesmas Langsa Baro. Pengumpulan data menggunakan kuesioner dan dianalisis menggunkan uji paired t test. Hasil : adanya peningkatan nilai rata-rata pengetahuan ibu sebelum dan setelah diberikan intervensi dari 3,15 menjadi 7,92 dengan selisih rata-rata -4,76. Hasil uji statsistik didapat nilai p value sebesar 0,000 (> 0,05). Kesimpulan : Pendidikan kesehatan menggunakan media audiao visual tentang pencegahan stunting terhadap pengetahuan ibu hamil yang mengalami kekurangan energi kronik (KEK).

Abstract

Education is an important aspect in the current era of modernization. Choosing the right study program in college is a crucial step for class XII students to prepare for their future. In this context, socialization regarding strategies for choosing study programs and scholarship opportunities is very relevant. With the right information, it is hoped that students can make intelligent decisions and get the opportunity to continue their education to a higher level. Community service activities are carried out through lecture, discussion and question and answer methods. The service team from Dharma Andalas University provided material using Power Point to make it easier for participants to understand. In addition, discussion and question and answer sessions were held to ensure deeper understanding. Multi-media tools such as laptops and LCD projectors are used to ensure the effectiveness and interest of participants in socialization activities. With this interactive method, it is hoped that participants can gain a good understanding of strategies for choosing study programs and scholarship opportunities.

Abstract

Cases of child growth retardation generally occur in around 5-10% of children. In addition to growth, malnutrition in toddlers is also a problem that must be addressed. Screening the development of toddlers is very important and must be carried out regularly. Nutrition and development are closely related. Malnutrition can cause developmental disorders. The aim of this community service activity is to improve knowledge and skills, as well as to assist cadres in monitoring the development and nutritional needs of toddlers. This activity will be carried out through training and assistance involving 10 posyandu cadres from partner villages. The partners in this activity are the Head of Paya Bujok Tunong Village, Langsa Baro District, Langsa City, and the target group is the cadres. The activity was held from 20 to 29 August 2025. The location of the activity was at the Geucik Gampong Paya Bujok Tunong office, Langsa Baro District, Langsa City. The activity included lectures, question and answer sessions, and simulations of child development monitoring using the Developmental Pre-Screening Questionnaire (KPSP) form. The community service activity method involved education, simulation, and mentoring. The areas of development assessed were gross motor skills, fine motor skills, speech/language, and socialisation/independence. The target group's knowledge of how to prevent malnutrition in toddlers was also assessed. The training activity lasted 2 days, and the mentoring lasted 1 week.  Posyandu cadres who had received training showed increased knowledge of developmental monitoring and malnutrition prevention. The pre-test knowledge category was 60%. After the cadres were trained, their knowledge increased to 80%. The cadres' skills in monitoring toddler development before training were in the good category for 3 people (30%). After training, the good category increased to 80%.

Abstract

Land use is one of the key factors influencing both the physical and chemical properties of soil, including characteristics such as soil color and texture. This study aimed to characterize the physicochemical properties and fertility criteria of soils under different land use types. Five land use categories were selected for investigation: shrubs, grasses, Eucalyptus sp., mixed plantations, and oil palm. Each land use type consisted of three replications. Soil sampling was conducted at five designated points per land use type, with samples collected from a depth of 0–30 cm, resulting in a total of 75 samples. The research was carried out over a three-month period from April to July 2022 using a land survey approach and purposive sampling technique. The observed parameters included soil color, texture, permeability, pH, total nitrogen (N), total phosphorus (P), total potassium (K), organic carbon (C), base saturation, and cation exchange capacity (CEC). The results revealed that the soil color was predominantly black (2.5Y 2/1), with a sandy loam texture. Soil permeability ranged from moderately fast to fast (6.33–23.68 cm·h⁻¹), while soil pH was acidic (4.75–5.11). Total nitrogen was categorized as low (0.11–0.18%), total phosphorus as very low (10.73–27.56 mg·100g⁻¹), and total potassium as very low to low (3.60–10.87 mg·100g⁻¹). Organic carbon content was low to moderate (1.49–2.45%), base saturation was very low (3.37–13.59%), and CEC was classified as very low to low (4.39–8.62 cmol(+)/kg).

Abstract

Sugar palm has an economic and ecological functions. Sugar palm is also able to adapt to marginal land including tidal. This study aims to identify land characteristics for their suitability for tidal. This land survey research was carried out in the Tenayan Raya, Pekanbaru. Sampling points are based on the overlay of land system maps, soil type maps and peat depth maps. Assessment of land suitability for palm trees is carried out using the limiting factor method in actual and potential conditions. The assessment results show that the actual land suitability of all SLH is not current suitable (N1) with the limiting factor for toxicity (xc), with very high Fe levels. Limiting factors of Fe can be overcome by water management, amelioration (supplement of organic material), liming and fertilization. Potential land suitability of all SLH is marginally suitable (S3).
