Abstract

Robert browning and the form of poetry known as “dramatic monologue” inevitably go togather. It is already made known that dramatic monologue is esssentially a narrative spoken by a single character. We are to imagine that it is being listened to but never answered; it is a dialogue of which we are to hear only one side. It gains added effect and dimensions through the character’s comments on his own story and the circumtances in which he speaks. It is through the single character’s speech that Browning present the plot, characters and scenes. It is through the words of Andrea that the reader can feel the presence of the plot, characters and scenes. This article tries to describe how Robert Browning handles his three objects in writing dramatic monologue through his poem entitled Andrea Del Sarto.

Abstract

Students’ character can be developed in the learning process. Literature at schools in Indonesia is always considered complimentary and unimportant, even though literature is very influential in developing students’ skill in language. Literature is an important source that can influence the development of students’ character. This paper argues that the authentic assessment of the literary sources being taughtat schools helpsteachers to deal with ways of developingstudents’ character. Thus, this paper is to demonstrate the authentic assessment of literary sources taught atthe third grade of elementary schools at MIN 2 Aceh Tamiang in developing students’ character. The study used a mixed method; the use of experimental and qualitative methods. Experimental method was used to assess cognitive domains while qualitative descriptive was used to show affective and psychomotor domains. The findings show that in the cognitive domain, the assessment of poetry and drama are best carried through written, oral, and assignment tests. The affective domain is best performed through observation and journals while the psychomotor domain is done effectively through portfolios and performance appraisals. The paper shows that the literature teaching through authentic assessment at schools develops students’ responsibility, hard work, creativity, friendliness, and discipline. The finding also reveals that the scores obtained by students have reached the minimum scores of passing after the use of authentic assessment.

Abstract

This study explores the role of Meunasah as a non-formal learning space for early childhood education in Aceh, focusing on its benefits and challenges. Meunasah, a community institution with a strong emphasis on religious education, provides young children with opportunities to engage in spiritual development, social interaction, and cultural learning. This research employs a qualitative case study approach, combining semi-structured interviews, participant observation, and document analysis to gather data from Meunasah teachers, community leaders, parents, and local education authorities. The findings reveal that Meunasah plays a vital role in fostering children's spiritual development, moral values, and social skills through communal activities and early religious instruction. These experiences contribute to children's emotional regulation, sense of identity, and social responsibility. However, the study also identifies several challenges that limit Meunasah’s effectiveness as a holistic learning environment. These include inadequate learning resources, lack of formal teacher training in early childhood pedagogy, and inconsistent parental involvement. Despite these limitations, the research highlights the potential of Meunasah to complement formal education systems by promoting a more integrated and community-based approach to early childhood development. Strengthening the role of Meunasah through curriculum development, teacher training, and collaboration with families and schools is essential to maximize its impact. Ultimately, Meunasah holds promise as a key pillar in Aceh’s early education landscape, provided that systemic support is in place.

Abstract

One way for teachers to be total in teaching and educating is to improve their welfare in terms of income. But also, teachers must always improve their knowledge and abilities to become professional educators so that they have a real influence on students in applying the results of learning in their daily lives. This research aims to find out the quality standards, professionalism, and efforts to improve teacher professionalism in teaching. The type of research used is a literature study with a qualitative descriptive approach. The results show that the government has made efforts to improve teacher professionalism. Among other things, teachers are required to have a minimum education of S-1, participate in teacher work deliberation forums, and provide teacher certification. But in fact, some teachers do not fulfill their calling in educating and are more material-oriented. The teaching profession must be based on a calling to achieve the goals of national education. At the very least, teachers must be qualified and professional in their fields to be exemplary and quality teachers.

Abstract

This study aims to learn more about lecturers' different types of providing feedback to students. A qualitative-descriptive analysis was carried out to apply it. Questionnaire was used to collect the information, and its goal was to determine how the English lecturer gives feedback to students in learning the language. The researcher found that English lecturers used many different kinds of feedback during this research, which refers to Wulandary’s (2017) and Ellis’ (2017) theory. They made use of each sort of feedback. However, it should be solicited in the first place. In addition, the lecturers provided students with written suggestions regarding how they might improve. The first is the amount of direct corrective feedback, which was the highest. When students write something wrong in English class, their lecturers will give them immediate feedback through written comments.
