Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

The 2021 Adolescent Reproductive Health Survey shows that the group of adolescents aged 15-17 years have dated, where the percentage is 45.3% of male adolescents and 47.0% of female adolescents. Bad dating behavior in this case leading to premarital sex in adolescents is no longer a complex problem but has become a habit or tradition that can result in unwanted pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases. This study aims to identify the factors influencing dating behavior among adolescents. Conducted as a cross-sectional study, the population included 340 students from SMKN 02 Songgom in 2023, with a sample of 184 respondents. Data analysis was performed using the chi-square test. The results indicated no significant relationship between age, place of residence, and dating behavior. However, a significant relationship was found between gender and dating behavior among adolescents. The role of parents or family is needed in providing information regarding good dating behavior, in order to avoid dating behavior that leads to premarital sex.

Abstract

Sexual education plays a critical role in promoting healthy and responsible behaviors among adolescents. Insufficient knowledge about sexual health increases the risk of engaging in unsafe sexual practices. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of sexual education in improving the knowledge of students at SMP Pancasila, Brebes Regency, regarding adolescent sexual issues. The intervention was conducted in May 2024 with 24 students aged 12–18 years, using a pretest-posttest design and educational media, including leaflets and PowerPoint presentations. Results indicated a significant increase in the average knowledge score from 7 to 9 following the intervention. Most participants were aged 14–17 years, and some had prior dating experience. These findings are consistent with Erikson’s developmental theory, highlighting the importance of identity formation and intimacy during adolescence. The educational program effectively enhanced students’ knowledge and equipped them with decision-making skills, self-regulation, and body awareness. This study underscores the necessity of implementing comprehensive sexual education at the middle school level, involving schools, parents, and the community, and employing accurate educational materials such as leaflets. Such interventions are expected to reduce the incidence of premarital sexual behavior and foster responsible attitudes among adolescents

Abstract

Early adolescence represents a critical developmental stage characterized by rapid physical, hormonal, and psychological changes. These transitions often trigger anxiety, confusion, and misconceptions among students, particularly when accurate and age-appropriate reproductive health information is limited. At SMP Negeri 2 Glenmore, preliminary observations revealed that many ninth-grade students lacked basic knowledge about puberty, such as nocturnal emissions among boys or the normal menstrual cycle among girls. This community service program aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of the edutainment approach in improving adolescents’ reproductive health knowledge. The intervention combined short lectures delivered in everyday language, small group discussions, interactive quizzes, and an anonymous question box to create a safe and engaging learning environment. A total of 42 students participated, and their knowledge was assessed using a 20-item questionnaire with established validity (0.71–0.89) and reliability (Cronbach’s alpha = 0.85). Results demonstrated a substantial improvement: the proportion of students with good knowledge increased from 14.3% to 88.1%, with mean scores rising from 10.1 to 16.7. The highest gain was observed in the personal hygiene domain (+75%), followed by psychological aspects and risk-prevention behaviors. Anonymous questions revealed students’ genuine concerns, ranging from physiological changes to moral perceptions, underscoring the importance of open and non-judgmental communication. The findings suggest that edutainment is not only effective but also practical, low-cost, and replicable as a routine program within school counseling and health units. In conclusion, reproductive health education delivered through edutainment fosters knowledge, confidence, and healthy attitudes among adolescents, making it a valuable strategy for sustainable school-based health promotion

Abstract

Background: Population control through family planning (KB) programs is crucial for improving the community's quality of life and promoting women's reproductive health. Studies on contraceptive use in Indonesia indicate that short-term methods, particularly injectables, are the most commonly chosen by users. This preference is influenced by various factors such as age, education level, employment status, and place of residence. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the factors associated with contraceptive use among women of reproductive age in Indonesia.Method: This study employed a quantitative descriptive method with a cross-sectional design to analyze data from the 2023 Indonesian Health Survey (SKI), focusing on the reproductive health component. The sample consisted of 70,649 women of reproductive age. Data analysis was performed using bivariate analysis, specifically the Chi-square test, to examine the relationship between independent variables and contraceptive use. Statistical analysis was conducted using SPSS version 26.0, with a significance level of p < 0.05 considered statistically significant. Results: The results of this study indicate that all variables influencing contraceptive use among women of reproductive age were significantly associated with age (p-value=0.000), education (p-value=0.000), occupation (p-value=0.000), and residence (p-value = 0.000).Conclusion: All studied factors showed a significant association with contraceptive choice among women of reproductive age in Indonesia. Enhancing accessible and educational family planning services, particularly for low-income, rural, and adolescent populations, is essential to increase awareness and promote reproductive health.
