Abstract

Abstract

Elderly is someone who has entered the age of 60 years and over. In a group categorized as elderly, a process called the Aging Process will occur. One of the physical changes that occur in the elderly is in the urinary system, namely a decrease in the tone of the vaginal muscles and urinary tract muscles. This literature review aims to determine the effect of keggel exercise on urinary incontinence in the elderly. The method is descriptive analysis with data analysis method using Literature review. With the key words the effect of Kegel exercise, urinary incontinence in the elderly, the effectiveness of Kegel exercise, the effectiveness of pelvic floor exercise. The results of a literature review of 20 journals showed that only one journal presented that Kegel exercise did not have a significant change in the elderly with urinary incontinence. Meanwhile, 19 other journals said the opposite. This keggel exercise has been shown to strengthen the pelvic or pelvic muscles so that it can train and strengthen the external sphincter in the bladder. The conclusion is that there is an effect of urinary incontinence before and after the keggel exercise in the elderly. Keggel exercises can reduce urinary incontinence. Suggestions for future researchers are expected to be able to use a different research design to compare research subjects on the variable kggel exercise to urinary incontinence in the elderly.

This study aimed to analyze the relationship between family support and the resilience of pulmonary TB patients in the working area of Garuda Health Center, Bandung. The research used a correlational analytic method with a cross-sectional approach, involving 65 respondents selected through purposive sampling. Data collection instruments included the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS) questionnaire to assess family support and a resilience questionnaire for pulmonary TB patients. Data were analyzed bivariately using the Chi-Square test. Results The results showed that 46 respondents (70.8%) received good family support. A total of 38 respondents (58.5%) had high resilience levels. A statistically significant relationship was found between family support and the resilience of pulmonary TB patients at Garuda Health Center, Bandung, with a p-value of 0.000. Conclusion and Recommendation The study concluded that the higher the family support, the greater the resilience of TB patients. It is recommended that health professionals encourage families to provide consistent support to pulmonary TB patients. Contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) This study aimed to examine one of the contributing factors to the resilience of pulmonary TB patients, namely family support. Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a deadly chronic disease in the world known as the "Mother of Disease" because it triggers a variety of other diseases that can lead to microvascular and macrovascular complications, impacting a decrease in quality of life. Therefore, proper care called self care is needed. Self care is a person's actions to control their health problems including diet management, blood sugar monitoring, drug therapy, foot care and physical activity. The purpose of the study was to determine the relationship between self-care and the quality of life of people with type 2 diabetes mellitus at the Griya Antapani Health Center. The research method uses quantitative descriptive correlation with a cross sectional approach. The sampling technique used purposive sampling with a total of 56 people from a population of 126 people with type 2 diabetes mellitus. The research instrument is in the form of a Summary of Diabetes Self Care (SDSCA) questionnaire to measure self-care and Diabetes Quality of Life(DQOL) to measure quality of life. Data analysis used a spearman rank test with the result of p = 0.001 < 0.05. In conclusion, there is a significant relationship between self-care and the quality of life of people with type 2 diabetes mellitus at the Griya Antapani Health Center. Self-care behaviors that need to be improved are physical activity and regular blood sugar monitoring. It is hoped that people with diabetes mellitus will improve self-care behavior to improve health and prevent further complications of the disease.

Abstract

Introduction and Methods Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease that can affect various organs and bodily systems over time, leading to complications. These complications may be classified as microvascular or macrovascular. Microvascular complications include neuropathy (nerve damage), nephropathy (kidney damage), and retinopathy (eye damage). Diabetes mellitus with complications can become a lifelong condition and may significantly impact the quality of life of both the individual and their family. This study aimed to examine the quality of life among type 2 diabetes mellitus patients with and without complications at Griya Antapani Primary Health Center. The study employed a quantitative, observational analytic design. A total of 56 respondents were selected through purposive sampling. Data on patients' quality of life were collected using the Diabetes Quality of Life (DQOL) instrument and an observation sheet. Data analysis was conducted using the Wilcoxon test. Results Statistical analysis using the Wilcoxon test showed a P-value of 0.032. Among the 56 respondents, 24 individuals (42.9%) had complications, while 32 individuals (57.1%) did not. Among those with complications, only 7 individuals (12.5%) reported a good quality of life, while 17 individuals (30.4%) experienced a poor quality of life. In contrast, all patients without complications (32 individuals or 57.1%) reported a good quality of life. None of the patients without complications reported a poor quality of life. Overall, 69.6% of respondents had a good quality of life, while 30.4% had a poor quality of life. Conclusion and Recommendations Patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus who experience complications tend to have a poorer quality of life compared to those without complications. The statistical analysis confirms a notable difference in the quality of life between these two groups. Future studies are encouraged to further explore the influence of patient characteristics such as age, sex, educational background, lifestyle, body mass index, and marital status, while also specifying the types of complications experienced by individuals with diabetes mellitus. Contribution to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) This study contributes to understanding the impact of type 2 diabetes mellitus complications on patients' quality of life. The findings support Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3, which aims to ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages. Specifically, the study aligns with target 3.4: to reduce by one-third premature mortality from non-communicable diseases through prevention and treatment, and to promote mental health and well-being. This corresponds to Indonesia's national indicator 3.4.1(a), which tracks mortality due to cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes, or chronic respiratory diseases.
