Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between height and arm muscle strength to volleyball serving ability by health vocational school students. This study is quantitative descriptive which tries to describe the serving ability of students volleyball in relation to height and arm muscle strength. The population of this study is all students of SMK Kesehatan Samarinda, while sampling uses purposive sampling techniques. The data collection technique uses a height test with measurements, an arm muscle strength test with a medicine ball test, and a volleyball service ability test. The data analysis technique uses descriptive analysis and inferential analysis. This analysis uses the SPSS 20.0 program using a multiple linear regression test with a significant level of α = 5%. Based on the data analysis conducted in this study, the conclusions were obtained. 1) there is a relationship between height and upper serve ability in volleyball with r count (r0) = 0.445(P<0.05), 2) there is a relationship between arm muscle strength and upper serve ability in volleyball with r count (r0) = 0.635 (P<0.05), 3). There is a relationship between height and arm muscle strength together with the ability to serve the top in volleyball, there is a result of R calculation (R0) = 0.798 (P<0.05). From the results of the study, height and arm muscle strength are known to be related to the ability to serve the top in volleyball, in general, it can be drawn a straight line that students who have height and arm muscle strength can show better serving ability over volleyball.

Abstract

The SERAWA (Healthy, Physical, and Spiritual) program is implemented to improve the quality of life of the elderly at UPTD PSTW Nirwana Puri, a social service institution in East Kalimantan, Indonesia. The program adopts a holistic approach, with a focus on physical health, fitness, and mental well-being. Indonesia's elderly population is increasing rapidly, and this demographic shift poses challenges to the health care and social welfare systems. The SERAWA program aims to overcome this challenge by providing comprehensive support to elderly residents in the institution. The program consists of two main components: Health education and psychological support. Health education focuses on promoting a healthy lifestyle, including balanced nutrition, regular exercise, stress management, and chronic disease prevention. Meanwhile, psychological support is provided through group discussions, sharing sessions, and individual counseling to address emotional well-being and prevent loneliness. The results of the program showed a positive impact on the physical health, emotional well-being, and social connectedness of elderly participants. The success of the SERAWA program demonstrates the effectiveness of a holistic approach in improving the quality of life of the elderly and highlights the potential to replicate similar programs in other social institutions across Indonesia. ABSTRAKProgram SERAWA (Sehat, Raga, dan Jiwa) dilaksanakan untuk meningkatkan kualitas hidup lansia di UPTD PSTW Nirwana Puri, sebuah lembaga layanan sosial di Kalimantan Timur, Indonesia. Program ini mengadopsi pendekatan holistik, dengan fokus pada kesehatan fisik, kebugaran, dan kesejahteraan mental. Populasi lansia di Indonesia meningkat pesat, dan pergeseran demografis ini menimbulkan tantangan bagi sistem perawatan kesehatan dan kesejahteraan sosial. Program SERAWA bertujuan untuk mengatasi tantangan ini dengan memberikan dukungan komprehensif kepada penghuni lansia di lembaga tersebut. Program ini terdiri dari dua komponen utama: pendidikan Kesehatan dan dukungan psikologis. Pendidikan kesehatan berfokus pada mempromosikan gaya hidup sehat, termasuk nutrisi seimbang, olahraga teratur, manajemen stres, dan pencegahan penyakit kronis. Sedangkan dukungan psikologis diberikan melalui diskusi kelompok, sesi berbagi, dan konseling individu untuk mengatasi kesejahteraan emosional dan mencegah kesepian. Hasil program menunjukkan dampak positif pada kesehatan fisik, kesejahteraan emosional, dan keterhubungan sosial peserta lansia. Keberhasilan program SERAWA menunjukkan efektivitas pendekatan holistik dalam meningkatkan kualitas hidup lansia dan menyoroti potensi untuk mereplikasi program serupa di lembaga sosial lain di seluruh Indonesia.

Abstract

This community service program aims to provide assistance in the management of the Borneo Physical Education Journal (BPEJ) which is managed by the Physical Education Study Program of FKIP UNMUL. BPEJ has an important role as a forum for scientific publications for academics and researchers in the field of physical education. Through this assistance, it is hoped that the quality of journal management can improve, its visibility will be wider, and it will be able to contribute more optimally to the development of science in the field of physical education. This mentoring activity is carried out in several stages that are structured and comprehensive, namely through the stages of preparation, implementation, evaluation and follow-up, The results of post-test and data analysis show that BPEJ scientific journal management assistance activities have had a positive impact on journal management and publications. Increasing participants' understanding of journal management, increasing the number and quality of published articles, and increasing the visibility of journals are indicators of the success of this activity

Abstract

Monograph writing is an important skill for final year students of the Elementary School Teacher Education Study Program (PGSD) to complete their final project and contribute to the science of education. However, many PGSD students do not have sufficient skills in writing monographs according to academic standards. Therefore, this training aims to improve the ability of PGSD Unmul students in writing quality monographs with a practical and theoretical approach. This training was attended by 40 final year students of PGSD Unmul. Before the training, an initial test was carried out to measure students' understanding in writing monographs, including writing techniques, argument preparation, and the use of appropriate references. The results of the initial test showed that only 30% of students had understood the basics of monograph writing, while the rest still had difficulty in compiling systematic scientific writing. After the training, students take a final test to evaluate their skill improvement. As a result, 80% of participants showed a better understanding of monograph writing, especially in structuring arguments and using references appropriately. This training is expected to help PGSD Unmul students complete their final projects with better quality and enrich their scientific writing skills according to the needs of the world of education. In addition, the improved skills are expected to enrich the references and teaching materials used by lecturers at PGSD, as well as improve the quality of education at the elementary level.

Abstract

Traditional games played using tools have important value both in the context of education and cultural preservation. This game tool functions as a concrete medium that is able to enrich the student learning experience. This Community Service activity aims to assist students of the Elementary School Teacher Education Study Program (PGSD) in designing and making traditional game tools. The activity was carried out through technical assistance and simulation of the use of game tools made by students. Based on the evaluation results, it was found that 54.2% of students demonstrated a very good understanding of the concept of traditional games, while 45.8% showed a sufficient understanding. In terms of developing ideas and creativity, 60% of students felt very helped and 40% felt quite helped in developing creative ideas for making game tools. Providing new experiences for students, especially in the process of designing and creating learning media based on regional games, 65.5% of students felt that they got a new experience, and 33.5% felt that it was enough to get a new experience. The feasibility of the traditional game tools produced, as many as 41.3% of students stated that the tools were quite applicable in learning in elementary school, and 58.7% considered that the tools were very applicable in the context of thematic learning at the elementary school level. These findings show that mentoring activities can encourage increased understanding, creativity, and practical competence of PGSD students as prospective educators who are innovative and culturally insightful

Abstract

High school students generally participate in activities based on encouragement or invitations without fully understanding the purpose behind them. In reality, individuals typically engage in certain activities driven by personal interest. In this context, interest becomes a component of personality that plays a role in influencing students' choices. The purpose of this study is to determine the level of student interest in participating in sports extracurricular activities at SMA Negeri 2 Tenggarong. This research is a quantitative descriptive study using a survey method. The research subjects were students who do not participate in sports extracurricular activities at SMA Negeri 2 Tenggarong, totaling 719 students. The instrument used was a questionnaire, with a reliability coefficient calculated using Cronbach’s Alpha formula, resulting in a value of 0.901. Quantitative descriptive statistics with frequency tables were used to analyze the data. The results showed that students' interest in participating in sports extracurricular activities at SMA Negeri 2 Tenggarong tends to fall within the moderate category. The results are detailed as follows: very high category – 9.19%, high category – 19.5%, moderate category – 33.3%, low category – 25.29%, and very low category – 12.6%.

Abstract

The habit of sitting in an inappropriate and sustainable position can cause back pain and the risk of spinal disorders. This community service aims to educate the importance of ergonomic sitting positions to prevent back pain and spinal disorders in students of SDN 004 Samarinda Ilir. This activity was carried out through socialization and simulation for 100 students, and it involved teachers in ergonomic discussions and practices. The results of the service showed an increase in students' understanding of the correct sitting position. The percentage of students who understand how to sit properly increased from 35% to 85% after socialization. In addition, the wrong sitting habits such as slouching hanging legs, and sitting with the back tilted to the side, decreased from 40% to 10%. The conclusion of this service activity is effective in increasing student awareness about the importance of ergonomics in preventing back pain and spinal disorders in students of SDN 004 Samarinda Ilir and producing real improvements in healthier sitting posture behavior.

Abstract

The eye health knowledge education program is one form of program to increase students' awareness and understanding of how to maintain eye health, prevent visual impairment, and improve quality of life. The method of this community service activity is a qualitative approach, which is carried out at SDN 004 Samarinda Ilir, the participants in this activity include students and teachers. Data collection uses observation techniques as preparation, implementation of education and training, and evaluation. After the implementation of the educational program, students can know and understand the habits that need to be avoided and limited in terms of gadget use, and students can explain the impact and risks of excessive gadget use. The results of the educational program to maintain eye health that was implemented showed a difference in the level of understanding and knowledge of students before education obtained a percentage of 35% and after education, the percentage increased to 82%. This difference shows that the educational intervention provided has a positive impact on student understanding so it shows a significant increase in the level of experience and knowledge of students regarding eye health.

Abstract

Coaching Clinic tentang penggunaan alat olahraga untuk Karang Taruna Buana Remaja Manunggal Jaya bertujuan untuk mengatasi kurangnya pemahaman di kalangan remaja mengenai teknik, perawatan, dan keamanan yang tepat dalam menggunakan treadmill dan home gym. Program tersebut dilakukan melalui tahapan sistematis, meliputi persiapan, pelaksanaan, dan evaluasi. Tahap persiapan melibatkan analisis kebutuhan, persiapan materi, dan koordinasi dengan organisasi pemuda. Tahap implementasi meliputi konseling, demonstrasi, praktik langsung, dan diskusi. Evaluasi dan tindak lanjut menilai pemahaman, keterampilan, dan kepuasan peserta, serta memberikan rekomendasi untuk pengelolaan peralatan yang berkelanjutan. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa 87% peserta meningkatkan pemahaman mereka tentang penggunaan peralatan, 80% berhasil menerapkan teknik yang tepat, dan 90% menjadi sadar akan risiko keselamatan dan cedera. Selain itu, 85% manajemen organisasi berkomitmen untuk memelihara dan mengelola peralatan secara berkelanjutan. Tingkat kepuasan yang tinggi sebesar 93% menunjukkan bahwa program tersebut memenuhi harapan peserta dan memberikan manfaat nyata. Keberhasilan Coaching Clinic ini dapat menjadi model program serupa di komunitas lain untuk mempromosikan budaya olahraga yang aman dan sehat.

Abstract

Program pengabdian masyarakat "Peningkatan Kompetensi Guru Melalui Pendampingan Penulisan dan Publikasi Karya Ilmiah Bagi Guru SMA Se Kota Samarinda" bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan dan kepercayaan diri guru dalam menulis dan menerbitkan artikel ilmiah. Program ini menggunakan metode pendampingan dan lokakarya intensif untuk meningkatkan pemahaman guru tentang penulisan artikel, manajemen referensi, dan prosedur pengiriman ke jurnal ilmiah. Sebagian besar peserta menunjukkan kemajuan yang signifikan dalam keterampilan menulis ilmiah dan menyusun artikel yang memenuhi standar publikasi. Meskipun beberapa peserta menghadapi kendala pada tahap akhir publikasi, pendampingan tambahan diberikan untuk memastikan keberhasilan mereka. Tingkat kepuasan peserta yang tinggi menunjukkan efektivitas dan relevansi program untuk mengembangkan kompetensi guru di SMA Negeri Kota Samarinda. Keberhasilan program dievaluasi berdasarkan persentase pencapaian dari pre-test sebelum pendampingan, yang mencapai 40%, sedangkan post-test meningkat menjadi 90%, menunjukkan peningkatan 50% dalam kemampuan peserta untuk mempublikasikan karya ilmiah. Hasil pelaksanaan pengabdian menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman penulisan artikel ilmiah, kemampuan menyusun artikel, penguasaan penggunaan referensi dan teknik manajemen daftar pustaka. Secara keseluruhan, program ini berdampak positif pada profesionalisme guru dan memiliki potensi untuk meningkatkan budaya akademik di sekolah mereka, berfungsi sebagai model pengabdian masyarakat berkelanjutan yang mendorong pengembangan kompetensi guru secara berkelanjutan dan berkontribusi pada kualitas pendidikan yang lebih baik.
