Abstract

Kata Kunci:  koneksi matematis, pembelajaran in action

Abstract

This is a qualitativedescriptive research that aims to analyze the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model of the mathematics teacher on the surface area of the cylinder. The subject of this study was just one person who was selected purposively from three mathematics teachers of grade IX at SMP. The research instruments were the researcher herself, observation sheet, interview guide, and documentation. The data in this study were then analyzed in three stages, namely data condensation, data presentation, as well as conclusion and verification. The results of the research show that the teacher as a research subject who applies the PBL model in class is not fully in accordance with the theory. In addition, she treats the two research classes differently because of the differences in students' mathematical abilities in the two classes (epistemic injustice). Also, the application of the PBL model does not work as it should be in learning. This is because, on the one hand, there is still a lack of students' ability to understand the context of the problem given by the teacher. On the other hand, the teacher is still accustomed to conventional learning. Therefore, the teacher still tends to dominate learning activities. In fact, learning activities should be dominated by students.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the application of MURDER collaborative model (Mood, Understand, Recall, Detect, Expand, and Review) on student learning outcomes, activities, and responses in learning mathematics in class X. This research is pre-experiment with quantitative approach with techniques sampling is cluster random sampling. Data collection was carried out using observation sheets of implementation of learning, test results of learning (pretest and posttest), observation sheets of student activities, and student questionnaire responses. The data analysis technique used is descriptive and inferential statistical analysis. The results of descriptive statistical analysis showed: (1) the average of learning achievement was 3,73 (well implemented), (2) the average pretest results were 35 (very low category). The average posttest results was 85 (high category), (3) the posttest results show that classical completeness is achieved 94% (4) the average normalized gain is 0,77 (high category), (5) the average percentage of activity students by 90% (very active) (6) the average percentage of students who gave positive response 89%. The results of inferential statistics analysis show: (1) the average value of students taught using collaborative MURDER model was greater than 70, (2) the normalized gain average value was greater than 0,3 (medium category), (3) the average classical completeness greater than 80%. In general it can be concluded that implementation MURDER collaborative model has an effect on students mathematics learning outcomes, activities, and responses.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the students' difficulties in solving straight-line equations in terms of anxiety in learning mathematics in class VIII SMP. The method of this research is descriptive qualitative research. There are three students who are the subject of this study, namely one student with high anxiety, one student with moderate anxiety, and one student with low anxiety. The results showed that subjects with high anxiety (SKT) had more difficulty in solving questions and needed a relatively long time to solve problems. Subjects of moderate anxiety (SKS) had little difficulty in applying concepts and more difficulties in applying principles and difficulties in solving verbal problems and took a long time to solve problems. The subject of low anxiety (SKR), has no difficulty in understanding concepts, applying principles, and has no difficulty in solving verbal problems but requires a relatively long time in solving questions. The results of this study are expected to add insight and minimize students' difficulties in solving straight line equations

Abstract

This study aims to identify misconceptions on logarithm of students at class X. This research is categorized as descriptive research with quantitative approach. Subjects in this study were students of class X, selected with purposive sampling technique. Data were collected by diagnostic test method. Instrument in this study is multiple choice test with four choices of answers. Students are also required to fill in the CRI score as a student's level of confidence in the chosen answer. Students’ understanding categories are obtained from combination of diagnostic test results (true or false) with CRI values (high or low). The results of this study indicate that the highest category of conceptual understanding of the logarithmic material of students at Class X senior high school is the misconception category. Students' misconceptions on logarithmic material still occur in each indicator. The percentage of students who experience the highest misconceptions at indicators that discuss understanding the values of various logarithmic forms and able to sort the logarithmic numbers from the smallest number to the largest number. The lowest misconception occurs at indicators that discuss using logarithmic properties in solving simple logarithmic equations.
