Abstract

Bener Meriah Regency is one of the central coffee production areas in Aceh Province, especially in Taman Firdaus Village. Coffee bean processing generates waste in the form of coffee husks, which account for approximately 50-60% of the harvest. Therefore, there is a need for innovation to process coffee husks into a delicious coffee husk tea product with high economic value. Consequently, socialization and training activities are required to process coffee husks for target partners who are direct farmers. It is expected that these activities will: 1) increase the income of the community, especially partner groups, 2) become an alternative for partner groups to utilize coffee husks as a product with high economic value, and 3) cultivate an entrepreneurial spirit among partner groups for products produced through the utilization of Arabica coffee husks.

Abstract

The research aims to see the effect of using kale (Ipomoea Aquatica), water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes) and apu-apu (Pistia statiotes) in the phytoremediation process on water quality in palm oil mill waste. The design used in this research is an experimental design using a non-factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD). The treatments in the study used 4 treatments and three replications, namely P1: 20 liters of palm oil waste + 600 grams of water spinach, P2: 20 liters of palm oil waste + 600 grams of water hyacinth, P3: 20 liters of palm oil waste + 600 grams of apu-apu, P4: 20 liters of palm oil waste. The observation parameters in this study include pH, DO, Temperature, Nitrate and Phosphate. The results showed that the best aquatic plants in phytoremediation of palm oil wastewater were in treatment B (water hyacinth) and the lowest in treatment D (control). From the results obtained, it can be concluded that water hyacinth is suitable for use as a plant in phytoremediation and is able to improve the quality of palm oil wastewater.

Abstract

Tor tambroides, T. tambra, T. douronensis, and T. soro are native fish species to Indonesia with their natural habitat generally being upstream of rivers in hilly areas with clear water and strong currents. Information of the structure and function of appendicular osteology is necessary to understand how fish accelerate and maintain body balance in the water. This study used 5 samples per fish species obtained from Tor fishermen around the habitat of these fish. The results of the comparison showed morphological differences between the appendicular structure of Tor species, consisting structure of the pinnae pectoralis, pinnae pelvicalis, pinnae dorsalis, pinnae analis, and pinnae caudalis. The highest variation was found in the pinnae caudalis. The pointed shape of the pinnae caudalis with long fin rays indicates that the Tor species is capable to swim at a high speeds. Keywords:ossa appendiculareTor douronensisTor tambraTor tambroidesTor soro

Abstract

This community service program aimed to empower residents of Krueng Mate Village, North Aceh, through yard-based local food security initiatives. The main issues identified were the underutilization of home yards and limited access to sustainable food sources. The program involved awareness sessions, technical horticultural training, seed distribution, planting, and growth monitoring. A participatory approach encouraged active community involvement. Results showed a plant survival rate above 85% and increased public knowledge and skills in managing yard crops. The program helped meet household food needs, reduce daily expenses, and strengthen community solidarity. The success of this initiative in Krueng Mate indicates that food security based on community empowerment can be an effective strategy to enhance socio-economic resilience. This activity is expected to be replicable in other villages to support sustainable development through local resource optimization.
