Abstract

Flooding is a natural disaster that often occurs in several village areas in Tempurejo Sub-district, Jember Regency, one of which is in Wonoasri Village. Residents of Wonoasri Village have carried out regular prevention activities every rainy season, one of which is the construction of river bunds and dredging mud. However, if not seriously anticipated, the flood disaster will paralyse access to the village. The purpose of this service is to inform insights and preventive mitigation actions related to flood disasters to the village community and especially to the Wonoasri Disaster Response Village (Destana) team. This activity is composed of several activities including the provision of equipment grants, training and socialisation, and evaluation of activities. The results of this activity are the provision of insights and handling actions by the Destana Wonoasri team related to flood management and the operation of equipment grants. Participants were very interested in this activity organised by the community service team, so it is hoped that this event in the future can be a positive thing for the village community and the Destana Wonoasri team to deal with natural disasters, especially floods.

Abstract

Indonesia is vulnerable to earthquakes due to its location on the “Ring of Fire,” recent research highlights the potential for megathrust earthquakes off the southern coasts of Java and Sumatra. Researching earthquake-resistant building structures' behavior is very important to obtain a more effective and efficient structure. Materials, structural types, and forces such as dead loads, live loads, and earthquake loads influence the structural behavior of high-rise buildings. IT Mandiri Bumi Slipi building, with a height of 149.6 m and 32 floors, exhibits structural irregularities vulnerable to earthquakes. High-rise buildings require earthquake-resistant systems, such as dual-system structures incorporating frames and shear walls. This study compares the behavior of reinforced concrete and steel structures (special plate shear walls) in a 32-story building, focusing on structural weight, beam bending moment, base shear force, and seismic displacement. The analysis used ETABS software and LRFD principles, with spectrum response analysis for seismic loads. Results showed that the reinforced concrete model had seismic base shear forces of 21578.87 kN in the X direction and 21577.91 kN in the Y direction, with drifts of 276.664 mm in the X direction and 141.33 mm in the Y direction, and the largest beam bending moment of 6713.27 kN-m. The steel model shows seismic base shear forces of 10927.52 kN in the X direction and 10929.99 kN in the Y direction, with drifts of 250.31 mm in the X direction and 119.33 mm in the Y direction, and the largest beam bending moment of 4221.82 kN-m. Steel structures are lighter and more effective at resisting seismic loads than concrete, with a weight of 257801.8 kN versus 508305.6 kN and smaller drift and shear force. These findings serve as a reference for innovation in earthquake-resistant construction of high-rise buildings.

Abstract

Abstract

In the planning of earthquake-resistant buildings, earthquake loads must be taken into account so that the building does not move laterally, which can result in weak structural strength points. The amount of deviation can indicate the amount of internal structural forces in the building that can affect safety and comfort factors. One way to increase the strength of the building structure is to use additional structural components, namely shear walls. This study aims to explain the differences that occur in building structures due to deviation behavior. To do this, a dual system and moment-bearing frame system are used to model the building. In this study, the method used is the analysis of the structural deviation that occurs compared to the allowable deviation for three shear wall placement models. Based on the analysis that has been done, the addition of shear walls can increase lateral strength and can withstand existing earthquake loads. In addition, among the three shear wall placement models applied, model two proved to be more effective to apply.

Abstract

Flooding is one of the disasters experienced by several areas in Jember Regency, especially in Ambulu District, one of which is Pontang Village. Although residents do not consider flooding as a threat because the intensity of flood events is still relatively low. However, if it is not anticipated, it will of course disrupt the activities of village communities. The aim of this activity is to provide knowledge and skills in handling the impact of flood risk to village communities and especially to the Pontang Disaster Response Village (Destana) team. This activity consists of various activities such as grants for main and supporting equipment, training and outreach, as well as activity evaluation. The result of this activity was an increase in the knowledge and skills of the village community and the Destana Pontang team regarding flood management and techniques for using the main and supporting equipment that was donated. Participants were also enthusiastic about taking part in activities organized by the implementing team, so it is hoped that this activity can be of added value for the village community and the Destana Pontang team in facing disasters in the future.
