Abstract

Aruk is part of Sebunga Village, Sajingan Besar District, Sambas Regency, west-Kalimantan. The Aruk region is directly adjacent to the country of Malaysia and developed into a Pos Lintas Batas Negara (PLBN). The existence of PLBN provides easy access that affects not only the economic and social culture, but also has an impact on the physical changes of buildings in this area. This research was conducted to recognize the physical characteristics of buildings, especially residential buildings located in the Aruk border area. 74 selected buildings were collected through observation which was strengthened by interviews with users. The variables in this study are the function, use of materials and visual form of the building's appearance. Data were analyzed to see the closeness of building characteristics, especially with the year of establishment so as to conclude the character of residential buildings in these locations. The results of the analysis show that buildings that built earlier periode in the Aruk use material that are easily found around locations, especially wood, and have a more complex appearance than the buildings after. These characteristics tend to change in line with the development of this area and increasingly easy access to the region.

Abstract

Sambas is an area that has a variety of cultures, so it needs to be preserved in order to stay awake. The design of the Sambas Culture Center is the main alternative as a container for Sambas culture to perform, exhibit and introduce culture so that its sustainability is maintained. It is hoped that the Sambas Culture Center design will attract the interest of the community, especially the younger generation, to care about their own culture. This design method uses the J.C Jones design method. All information is analyzed, then synthesized to produce certain concepts according to the initial idea and then evaluated. This design produces a physical form and a philosophy which is a source of pride for Sambas. In this design, according to the cultural data, Sambas is most likely to be preserved, it can be divided into 3, namely in the form of performances, exhibitions, and education. The Sambas Culture Center is a single building with a triangular roof which is equipped with typical Sambas ornaments and the symbol of the Sambas Sultanate at the top of the roof.

Abstract

Community health center also known as Puskesmas are public healthcare facilities located across Indonesia. Puskesmas Pal III is a community health center in Pontianak which has been established and operating since 1993. A re-evaluation is required to adjust current building condition to users needs, standards, and regulations. The re-evaluation is also known as post occupancy evaluation (POE). This study uses mixed methods (qualitative and quantitative) which compare the questionnaire results from building users as respondents to theories and standards regarding Community Health Center or health facilities in general. In the process, the data analysis using this method is connected by three functional aspect variables namely zoning and layout, circulation, and dimensions. The result of the study shows that the spaces in Puskesmas Pal III have been operating properly according to its function, the relationship between spaces is considered quite comfortable and have met the minimum standard also grouped based on the same function, and the circulation in the building is also considered comfortable. Moreover, from samples that have been studied, the space layout is considered quite spacious although there is an inadequate space which is over capacity in motorcycle parking areas for visitors.

Abstract

Motorsports in Indonesia are growing. This is proven by the increasing number of areas with permanent and/or non-permanent racing circuits with improvements on existing ones. The Sultan Syarif Abdurrahman Pontianak racing circuit was closed since 29 October 2020 until an undetermined time. West Kalimantan and Pontianak City require racing circuits with national standards and adequate facilities. The author's Design of the Pontianak 150cc Racing Circuit Area tries to answer the required racing circuit. The author studied the racing circuit standards which are referenced by IMI, FIM and CIK-FIA also the precedents of racing circuits and race events. An analysis conducted related to the design subject and the facility needs of a racing circuit. The author determines which sites around the city of Pontianak with an adequate area. The design refers to the needs of the 150cc class race which is often held in West Kalimantan Province. The design's concept is arena concept. The design has pit building, medical building and visitor/audience buildings which are placed around the racetrack. With the learning outcomes of circuit standards, circuit precedents and racing event precedents, the design concept can be the beginning of a racing circuit construction needed by West Kalimantan and Pontianak City.

Abstract

Science is a very important science for children to understand, because children are a golden age phase where at their age their brains grow and develop rapidly. The need to learn science from an early age is to avoid their fear in adulthood when it comes to studying science. Many children or teenagers avoid science lessons because for them it is a difficult lesson to understand. Therefore, it is necessary to learn science from an early age to avoid the stereotype that says science is difficult and scary. The Children Science Center was built to help children learn science. The Children Science Center was also built to be a means of learning science outside of school, because many schools in Indonesia have inadequate facilities for studying science. The method used in the Children Science Center is the design method of J.C Jones. Jones started his design from an idea that was equipped with information to strengthen the idea. All information is analyzed, then synthesized to produce certain concepts according to the initial idea and then evaluated. The evaluation stage will be the basis for optimizing the design. This Science Center has a commercial area and is a public space that can provide income and educational recreation for children.

Abstract

The existence of ethnic Chinese has existed for a long time and is inseparable. The Kakap River area, especially in the old temple area, Sungai Kakap Village, Sungai Kakap District, Kubu Raya Regency is one of the areas inhabited by many ethnic Chinese. Through the potential and problems that exist in the region, it is necessary to make efforts to preserve culture because Chinese culture in West Kalimantan is currently one of the ethnicities that has been recognized and has developed for a long time. Therefore, it is necessary to build a Chinese Cultural Center as a form of development of culture and art and improve the image of the region. Based on potential and problems, the five-step method in design is used by utilizing information from data collection obtained, and supported by clear analysis and synthesis of concepts. This design has the main function as a performance of Chinese cultural and artistic activities as well as supporting functions as building support functions such as cultural research, seminars, and recreation. The result of this design is a design building consisting of a new mass area and an existing mass area with the function of worship, activities, and preservation of Chinese culture. The design theme uses a neo-vernacular architectural approach that adapts to the pattern of the surrounding environment as original architecture built by the local community with a new concept that applies cultural and environmental elements expressed in the form of architectural physical.

Abstract

Sambas Regency has the potential to improve the regional economy. There is industrial and business potential in Sambas Regency which makes it possible to increase meeting activities such as workshops, seminars, exhibitions, conventions, conferences, festivals and others. So far meeting activities in Sambas Regency have been carried out using makeshift facilities from other buildings, so they are inadequate to fulfill the special function of meetings. For this reason, it is necessary to provide facilities in the form of a convention center. The location of the Sambas Convention Center Design is on Jalan Ahmad Yani, Sambas City, Sambas Regency, West Kalimantan. The method applied in the design is the Glass box according to John Christopher Jones. Building design is carried out in several stages, namely by collecting primary data and secondary data. The data is then analyzed and produces a design concept that will realize the design of the building. The design function consists of meeting functions, commercial functions and service functions. The design results are in the form of design products in buildings with symmetrical shapes with the application of the theme of regionalism architecture. The building mass is inspired by the iconic building of Sambas City, namely the Sambas Palace with three separate mass arranged horizontally along the site area. The building is designed according to the architectural principles of local buildings. Building circulation is made flexibly according to the philosophy of Malay building. Using wide-span structures and grid structures in buildings and using trus systems in roof construction.

Abstract

The creative industry in Pontianak City is actually quite developed, especially in the culinary, fashion, and craft sub-sectors. However, the lack of availability of creative ecosystems as well as limited space and equipment for creative actors who have ideas but do not have the capital have caused the creative industry to be unable to develop rapidly. Therefore, it is necessary to have a creative hub that functions as a place to gather, interact, collaborate, innovate, and introduce products for creative actors. In addition, this creative hub is also a forum to improve the quality of community human resources through educational events and trainings or workshops that are very useful as a provision to navigate the world of work. The design of a creative hub in Pontianak City combines three creative hub concepts, namely creative space, makerspace, and coworking space with a Contemporary Architecture approach which is expected to be able to be a solution to various design problems considering the function of the building in addition to providing a decent space, it also demands design trends that reflect the creative industry, namely always innovative and up to date.

Abstract

One of the basic needs for all humans without exception is education as stated in the UUD 1945 article 31 paragraph (1) states that every citizen has the right to education. The education obtained is in accordance with UU RI Number 20 of 2003 concerning the National Education System in article 5 which states that citizens who have physical, emotional, mental, intellectual and/or social disabilities have the right to receive special education, namely special education. Students with physical disabilities or disabilities (blind, hearing impaired, quadriplegic), mental deficiencies (mental retardation), as well as physical and mental limitations are included in the group of Children with Special Needs. The educational medium for children with special needs is the Special School. Special school was established to increase the distribution of educational services for special needs so that every citizen does not experience gaps in obtaining education. By applying the design method proposed by J. Zeisel in 2006, design is carried out objectively by utilizing data collection through field observations and data collection through books, journals and data from relevant agencies/institutions regarding the design object. Having a design area of 2.2 hectares. The Kubu Raya Regency Special School consists of two building masses, namely the school building and the dormitory building. The school building consists of one floor and the dormitory building consists of two floors.
