Abstract

This study aims to analyze the objectives of Islamic education and its curriculum from Harun Nasution’s perspective using a library research method through books and scientific journals. The findings show that Harun Nasution’s thoughts on the Islamic education curriculum are progressive and systematic, emphasizing spiritual, moral, intellectual, and social harmony. He proposed a phased curriculum suited to students’ cognitive, emotional, and spiritual growth, beginning with introducing basic values and moral formation in early education and culminating in broader religious understanding and social responsibility at higher levels. The foundation of this curriculum lies in placing morality at the center, stressing that religious education is not merely knowledge transfer or ritual practice but should shape strong character and tolerance. Harun highlighted rationality, causality, and guidance from the Qur’an and Sunnah, rejecting fatalism. Its success depends on ideal educators knowledgeable, exemplary, and adaptive, capable of integrating spirituality, reason, and social competence to form holistic individuals relevant to modern challenges.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of Think Tanks in the development of Islamic education, particularly in policy formulation, strengthening governance and management, and transforming the Islamic education system in the era of globalization and technological disruption. This study uses a qualitative approach with library research methods through critical analysis of various scientific sources such as reputable journals, academic books, and relevant policy documents. Data analysis techniques are carried out through data reduction, data presentation, and systematic drawing of conclusions. The results show that Think Tanks have a strategic role as centers for knowledge production, policy analysis, and advocacy based on empirical research that can produce adaptive, contextual, and sustainable Islamic education policies. Think Tanks also contribute significantly to strengthening strategic planning, visionary leadership, human resource management, quality assurance, and the digitalization of Islamic education management. In addition, Think Tanks act as agents of transformation that encourage the integration of Islamic values with 21st-century competencies, digital literacy, and the strengthening of moderate character. This study confirms that strengthening the role of Think Tanks is an urgent need in building a holistic, innovative, and globally competitive Islamic education system without losing its Islamic identity. Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis peran Think Tank dalam pengembangan pendidikan Islam, khususnya dalam formulasi kebijakan, penguatan tata kelola dan manajemen, serta transformasi sistem pendidikan Islam di era globalisasi dan disrupsi teknologi. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi kepustakaan (library research) melalui analisis kritis terhadap berbagai sumber ilmiah berupa jurnal bereputasi, buku akademik, serta dokumen kebijakan yang relevan. Teknik analisis data dilakukan melalui reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan secara sistematis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Think Tank memiliki peran strategis sebagai pusat produksi pengetahuan, analisis kebijakan, dan advokasi berbasis riset empiris yang mampu menghasilkan kebijakan pendidikan Islam yang adaptif, kontekstual, dan berkelanjutan. Think Tank juga berkontribusi signifikan dalam penguatan perencanaan strategis, kepemimpinan visioner, pengelolaan sumber daya manusia, penjaminan mutu, serta digitalisasi manajemen pendidikan Islam. Selain itu, Think Tank berperan sebagai agen transformasi yang mendorong integrasi nilai-nilai keislaman dengan kompetensi abad ke-21, literasi digital, dan penguatan karakter moderat. Penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa penguatan peran Think Tank merupakan kebutuhan mendesak dalam membangun sistem pendidikan Islam yang holistik, inovatif, dan berdaya saing global tanpa kehilangan identitas keislamannya..
